    Very useful video! Thank you.
    If I may, I'd like to ask just two questions:
    [1] starting as a band 5 in a specific area (in-patients orthopaedics and out-patients msk), would it be appropriate to apply for band 6 roles after one year?
    [2] in your opinion, would it be useful to switch from the private sector to the public one (also remaining within the same band)? If so, why? Otherwise, why?
    Thanks in advance.

      Hi
      1) I don’t see any reason why not as long as you can manage the caseload and feel confident enough and can be successful at interview.
      It’s personal choice.
      Why is it you want to progress so quickly out of interest?
      2) I’m not sure, why do you ask this question? Useful in what way? If you can provide me some more context I can give a better answer

      First of all, thank you for your previous answer.
      I'll try to be more clearly.
      [1] I would just like to understand when it's the right time to do the next step. The main reason is represented by the fact that I'd like to become as more competent as I can and I'd like to make the right steps and waste no time being stuck in a situation (job position) that doesn't help me in that.
      [2] I mean, for example, what is the most supportive environment (always in terms of career progression, professional development, etc.)?

    Does doing a masters in physiotherapy or PHD move you further up the bands, or is it more focused on clinical experience?

    • @masi4579
      @masi4579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It definitely helps but I’d say that clinical work experience is probably more valued however I can’t speak for every trust but it just makes more sense to me.

      @@masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689 As a physiotherapist can you choose which patient to work with for example if you are female and would prefer to treat female patients. would the NHS give you that option?

    • @gavin7miller
      @gavin7miller 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@saudrehman8810 no as that is discriminatory and not feasible to support this due to the dynamics of NHS work.
      Unless there’s religious reasons which permit such a request. This would be discussed with management prior to employment to ensure equality and diversity opportunities are maintained.
      Without such justification I would suspect this wouldn’t be accommodated within the NHS.
      Hope that answers your question

    If we do our masters abroad as an international student..what will be the band you will be entering as a physiotherapist..

    • @jmac3112
      @jmac3112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as your masters let's you apply for your HCPC registration and if recognised by CSP, you would be entering at a band 5. Depending where you've done it, you may need to do some additional training/education to apply for your HCPC registration (all physios need to be registered with HCPC to practice in UK)

      Hi Maham, the HCPC and your specific employer will be able to fully assess you. You are free to apply for any band if you can evidence your exp and it complies with all the policy.

    Is it possible to advance even higher than a band 7? Ie band 8-8a? I’m guessing that’s much more of a senior management level physiotherapist within a hospital setting?

    • @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689
      @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes absolutely, usually these are people who are specialists or manage a region or something similar. The higher band you go the less contact time with patients you have unfortunately- that’s the way the system is built (atleast as far as I’m aware of).
      You can carve out your own niche/specialism once you’re at that level though external activity and development like courses, teaching, and other things you could come up with.

    So when you’re working up in bands is there some sort of exam or certification you do to go up the bands ? Is there some sort of evidence you have to provide to prove you’re a band 6 etc ... if that makes sense ?

      Hi Abhya, there is no exam, just interview like a normal job interview. Yes you will have to show evidence like a CPD folder to demonstrate your experience as well as performing well in the interview 👍🏼

    Hey man, just wondering - are physios expected to undertake postgraduate study to specialise, or can you get all the experience you need on the job? Is postgraduate study required for higher bands like 7, 8, etc?
    I'm considering a career in physio but not sure I'd wanna go back to uni to specialise.

    • @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689
      @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can do depending on your experience. But usually I think they would want you to have experience in a U.K. setting/NHS trust so I’m not quite so sure if that would always be the case.

      If you can provide evidence of your work in the home country, you can qualify for a band 6 & 7.
