I believe that the Omen blood, and the Omen curse are a manifestation or “lashing out” if you will of the crucible primordial tree. Before the greater will latched onto it funneling the power, and source of life from it like a parasite. Forcing it into order of its own liking, and into submission. But there are those born touched by the crucible, which blends all life together, which is why the omen have so many seemingly random traits from different creatures attached to their forms like weird tails, numerous horns, and bestial fur. The formless mother however taps into the life giving power of the crucible by the blood of those it directly bleeds it’s raw life giving power into, the blood of the omen. Much like again, a parasite.
I love how these two brothers are examples of the two extreme reactions of abuse. One completely gives in and begs for praise and love while the other lashes out in extreme anger against it. Two of the most human characters, and im sure that wasnt a mistake
i love this detail, it makes mohg a pretty interesting character as his hate for the erdtree is arguably justified, and as a tarnished, the player has very similar motivation
The more you dive into this games characters, the more relateable/sympathetic they become. Radahn was the victim of many tongue lashings from me, but looking back now he was actively preventing a meteor strike and may have loved his pet even more than I do.
@@khornethebloodgod4155 “where are you tarnished?” “I know almost everything, remember?” “I know exactly where you…..might be tarnished! Im about to scarlet aeonia youuuuuu.” 1…..2…..THREE!!! …….aw man. I thought you’d be behind this illusionary wall :(
State of Demigod forces: Godrick: Devastated, barely holding on Melania: Defunct, sleeping Radahn: Stuck in Calid, burning everything Rykard: Human forces gone, only experiments left, under permanent siege Morgott: Holding Leyndell and sieging Gelmir, still greatly diminished Ranni: Only 3-4 followers, under Black Knife surveillance Mohg: Hidden, under no threat, and actively recruiting I mean, he may be mad as a hatter, but Mohg does a good job keeping a low profile and is the only one whose forces are actively prospering without any outside threat.
Honestly, you make a damn good point. I mean miquella was doing a great job of building his kingdom until mohg stole him away. He really mohged that one up
Honestly, if he attacks as he is when we meet him, he just might pull out a W. Absolutely overwhelm Godrick. Keep Formless Mother on the DL and work with his bro to take down Rykard. Bum rush Ranni. The Omen twins working together, the Nights Cavalry, and a platoon of Bloody Fingers working together are certainly a match for Rhadan but if they take him on first and help in the festival the same way we do as Tarnished alongside the others like we do, it's a wash. Betray Morgott. Revealing Miquella will bring the wrath of Melania down on him but that wouldn't matter if he recruits a Tarnished like Okina to take down the Elden Beast and saves M for last after the Formless Mother becomes the premier cosmic power. Way I see it, the only real reason why he lost is because of players like us
I would like to share my own observation on Mohg that few people don't seem to take much notice of. The single detail that Mohg has a omen horn that has pierced out his right eye and possibly made contact with his brain. I think this detail can explain almost everything. I believe that as a child, Mohg unlike his brother became very rebellious and angry with his mistreatment as a Omen and tried to lash out in anger at his situation. Because of his rebellious behavior I believe Mohg's imprisonment was a exceptionally brutal one judging from the shackle animation and reading the shackle item description it implies that his imprisonment was under maximum confinement and safeguards. When we use Mohg's Shackle we see that he is temporarily bound to the ground, temporarily incapable of standing up or even lifting his arms. We see his shackle is broken in half unlike his brothers so it doesn't work as well as it did in the past. This means that back in the day when he was imprisoned with the magical shackle he probably couldn't move and after many years it's possible his horn slowly grew into his eye socket. This caused him a lot of pain and drove him insane and desperate to get out of his situation. We know Omen blood is exceptionally powerful to the Formless Mother and perhaps he called out in pain for someone to help him escape his situation while his own omen horn drew blood from his eye and maybe even his brain, causing the Formless Mother to hear the call and commune. There are many rituals that require you to draw your own blood in order to commune with eldritch beings, it would be kinda karmic if it turned out that the horn that pierced his eye due to the cruelty of his long and negligent imprisonment conditions was the accidental catalyst that allowed him to make contact with a outer god. Imagine if the omen horn literally pushed his eyeball into his brain. Literally "EYES ON THE INSIDE".
Also doesn't Mohg's animation have him slam head first into the ground? I think his watchers to abuse him for their amusement and this would cause one of his horns to bend like a nail if you miss hitting it properly.
I like the idea of both brothers offering a safe guard against the frenzied flame being that both have a reason to keep it buried. Morgott provides an unbreakable seal and mohg offers a powerful warrior in the form of his projection. Morgott doesn't name his brother a traitor which could imply they still have respect for eachother and possibly still support eachother.
@@sanguineregis5354 unless he thinks the projection IS Mogh and sealed him away as both a safeguard against someone taking the frenzied flame and to seal his brother away
I’m thinking that under Leyndell Mohg is a spirit manifestation before he fell from grace and communed with the Formless Mother. With the thought of why he’s there my explanation: maybe he was guided by grace to the underground area. He was guided by grace to guard the frenzied flame from ever being unleashed. Then the Formless Mother communed with him here which caused his fall from Grace.
If Miquella ever wakes up, he's gonna be pissed. His goal was to resist the forces of the outer gods and ironically his fate was becoming the vessel of one. Surely the corruption and manipulation of his body will have consequences 😱
I'm guessing what ever will happen in the dlc will be what wakes him up. The corruption aspect is the reason I think we would fight him. Hopefully it would be similar to Renala where we just defeat him and not kill him.
The way Godfrey picks up morgott seems to me that he had regret in his sons upbringing, which has me believing that the mother’s side wanted them to be banished, because otherwise Godfrey wouldn’t have even talked about morgott which shows compassion of the character.
We know Marika was enslaved to the greater will, but we can't definitively say where the historical antipathy for omens and other mutants originated. After all it is said that once such things were considered divine blessings. Maybe it was the greater will that in it's tyranny denied all aberrants the light of it's golden order or maybe it was humanity who feared the curse of their blood. If it was the greater will, then I doubt Marika had a choice about banishing her omen children, and if it was just the terrestrial golden order, then it would be hard to justify keeping their own children while forcing others to mutilate and discard theirs.
@@todo9633 The nobility often say one thing, and yet do another. Rules for thee, and not for me. It would be completely realistic for Marika to command the cruel imprisonment and disfigurement of other people's children, and not her own. That she DID shun and exile her own children, shows to me that it's either a commandment from the Greater Will, or that she personally originated the practice from her own beliefs.
@@TheSuperRatt I personally believe the persecution of Omens to be a commandment of the Greater Will. It is noted that objectively “Omen-ism” isn’t a curse-the phenomenon happens when the power of the Primordial Crucible-the source of power before the Greater Will’s Erdtree-manifests in a person. The Greater Will is shown to be incredibly hostile to even tiny *hints* of any powers besides its own existing in the Lands Between. Any non Greater Will power is exterminated or safely subjugated into a subordinate position. Children born with traits showcasing a power that existed prior to its arrival in the Lands Between would enrage the Greater Will to no end, so of course it would order the destruction of the Omen. Frankly considering how so many are killed at birth, I think it is a testament to Marika’s love as a parent that she “only” had her Omen twins imprisoned and hidden from sight rather than outright destroyed. It would have been incredibly easy to do the former especially with the Greater Will exerting such powerful control over her.
@@todo9633 The Greater Will doesn't give much of a shit about that, it was Marika who envisioned and enacted a form of order in which the omen are treated the way they are, it may be terrible but that is still order. Think of the Greater Will as Khorne, it does not mind what the order is as long as it is order.
Mohg being infatuated with Miquella is likely due to Miquella’s power to make others love him (from bewitching branch). This implies that this power is still in effect even when he is asleep.
I believe that this is why his sister thinks he's the greatest Empyrean. Rose (scarlet) tinted spectacles, maybe, caused by being in his thrall. I see little evidence that he is the most powerful. It's also not clear if his ability to make others revere him is something that he can do deliberately or discriminately.
@@thevo4100 the description from bewitching branch says he “learned very how to compel such affections”. So he was a pro at using it. We also know he created the rings of light incantation and was researching ways to break the outer gods’ influence. Cut content confirms he was St. Trina so him having sleep related powers is also possible (and rather fitting since he’s always sleeping). One of the cookbooks says he can enter dreams as well and influence people, basically a combination his sleep and brainwashing. An inception like power. The brainwashing ability is enough to make him the most feared demigod IMO. More cut content shows he had the great tune of abundance and his remembrance weapon was a twin blade.
@@thevo4100 for me Miquella is the most interesting demigod. It seem like there was a whole storyline and boss fight with him but it was cut before release. He would be the logical target for a dlc.
@bins Wanger while I agree, cut content cant be used as evidence. It was cut for a reason, and it's entirely possible that it is no longer meant to be considered canon.
i believe theres a likelihood varré killed our maiden at the beginning of the game. the dead one in the church of anticipation would have been ours, and varré waits at the first step, immediately knowing we are maidenless. varré also allows us to soak the cloth in any maidens blood, taking away the hardest part of the ritual. seems like another strategy in recruiting bloody fingers
@@nerdybirdnerd916 Not heavily implied to be ours, actually. That part is purely speculation, and the one at the beginning is more likely to be ours anyways.
The item descriptions in this game are quite fascinating when they start to push opinions and impressions, revealing some oddly nebulous "public" (ie the view from the perspective of the "average person" in The Lands Between) bias. Even more fascinating is when they gloss over or outright ignore relevant concrete details. Calling Mohg a raving lunatic is one example, but another, much more subtle example is the Vulgar Militia. They are derided and scorned and are even rumored to be cannibals (according to the Vulgar Militia Saw description) ... but some of their gear points out that they are actually the dedicated guardians of old battlefields. It's also never mentioned anywhere (that I can find) that they are almost definitely servants of Maliketh. They use certain bestial incantations and some of them even use weapons augmented with the rune of death. Not to mention that they guard the Bestial Sanctum.
I think the items descriptions are coming from Gideon as he seems to be a scholar and would keep a "compendium" of sorts for the Tarnished... Even after death as a spirit. Would explain the opinions and bias.
They could very easily be both the guardians of battlefields, revelling in all the death, and be cannibals. Feeding on death, and thus also being scorned and shunned by all others.
Some of the scorn might just be people in the Lands Between trying to dissuade the curious from getting too close to the members of certain factions. If you paint them as dangerous, such as spreading rumors of cannibalism, people are likely to shy away from them. When said faction is heretical and a threat to you this can stifle the faction's efforts to recruit. When that faction is hiding something those in power need to keep secret and safe (such as the Rune of Death) this weeds out all but the stupidest or most determined. And I suppose the function the Vulgar Militia played in society might have changed over time. Happens in the real world. Circumstances change and well... adapt or perish. Over time tales of what they did before they reorganized get mixed up with memories of newer actions and you end up with confusing, contradicting stories.
In my first playthrough I didnt find out about the Flame of Frenzy and genuinely thought the purpose of the unalloyed gold needle was to cleanse Miquella of Mogh's tainted blood. I was so confused when I beated mogh and approached the cocoon only to find out I could do nothing with it despite it clearly being an NPC judging by how it disappeared when you approached the camera as it happens to other NPCs in the overworld. Fingers crossed for a Miquella ending in future DLC.
I feel like this is indeed where the dlc where go. Miquella will awaken to find his beloved sister gone and his festering blood will rupture, mohgs and the formless mothers influence still very there. To bring on a age of blood so we the new lord or bringer of a new age will have to deal with him.
The whole quest with Mohg felt really undercooked to be honest. There was so much to work here, like perhaps we could meet Mohg as a non-hostile NPC first after Varre sends us to his palace, giving us the offer to join the dynasty and if we accept, he would send on a quest to eliminate his potential rivals in a similar vein as Ranni's quest. Say if we refuse his offer is when you fight him as a boss and if you join, you unlock another ending altogether with 2 variations; one where you seek to even usurp Mohg himself as the Lord of Blood and one where you become his most esteemed knight with Varre becoming the main villain similar to the quest with Rosaria and Leonard from DS3
I think that having an actual audience at some point would've been cool, but this which you propose would've been too samey. They already used Vyke to be a direct parallel to us, in the same way Oscar was going to be in DS1 before it became cut content, and on top of that we also have Bernhal following a similar disillusionment arc. Having Varré like that would be a lesser Vyke. It does have wasted potential, to that I agree.
Don’t take a shot every time you hear “blood”, you will die That said, Mohg is definitely one of the most fascinating characters in this game, especially given his connection to another outer god, and I’m in total agreement that something will occur with Miquella’s cocoon in the future, I have this image in my head of an inter dimensional world inside of the cocoon but only time will tell
Maybe they’ll do a dream sequence or something? Like after defeating Mohg you touch Miquella’s hand and are transported to his unconscious/dream. Kind of like with what happens when we touch Fia for her quest.
Mohg’s projection under Leyndell is like when kids put some pillows under the mattress to pretend they’re there when, in fact, are out there wilding with formless goddess’
I feel like Miquela isn’t as inactive as he seems. One of Miquela’s powers is forcing those around him to love or at the very least have an affection towards him. At first it seemed unintentional or passive, but according to the Bewitching Branch, he “learned very well how to compel such affection”. This implies that Miquela is actually a willful manipulator, and he very well could have manipulated Mohg at some point in their lives. That could explain why Mohg is so fixated on Miquela specifically. Mohg’s still potentially under Miquela’s influence. Perhaps Miquela was aware that his Haligtree wouldn’t have been enough for him to ascend into his adult godhood, and more power may have been necessary for his evolution. Or maybe he just manipulated Mohg in the past, but the effect it had on Mohg lasted longer than he had anticipated. Miquela’s power of manipulation can’t just be some random fact, it seems like it very well could explain why Mohg chose Miquela specifically.
True, Mohg doesn't know about the Outer God of Rot so why wouldn't he pursue Malenia instead? Using courting methods, not abduction of course, because he might get his ass kicked then
@@dunkleham since he can commune with the formless mother she would probably say: “This one is already aligned with another one of me so get another person”
I love this idea honestly with as little as we learn about Miquela he very easily could be like Gwendolyn where he's not AS bad as the other demigods/goddess (atleast imo) but still a egotist of sorts
It's pretty interesting that Mohg when deciding to create this new dinasty was fixated with Miquella, and both Malenia and Mohg seem to desire him the most out of everyone Malenia being his sister is undersrandable, but Mohg? Meeting this outer God that grants him powers to his accursed blood shoukd have very little to do, yet the first thing he chooses to do to start the dinasty is to kidnap Miquella, and we don't even know how he was able to know his powers It seems kind of weird to me Miqella would purposely attract Mohg tho, as being kidnapped from a place like the Haligtree where everyone is accepted seems counter-intuitive My guess is that the outer god, the formless mother somehow told him to do so and that this mother is linked to Miquella in someway
About the Rose Church I also find it very interesting that there is no grace on its island. Might mean something given that there are graces in a lot of less important places on the Liurnia marshes.
Lore wise I believe personally that he strays from graces as another spit in the face of the order , he has a couple as ways for recruits to come in , the farm spot one for easy transportations of albinuracs and the one in his area for his own uses
@@yourlaughhere Mohg likely isn’t Grace-Given and Albinaurics wouldn’t be either so it’s probably not for transportation for them specifically. Could be for any Grace-Given knights but it seems rare that Tarnished can see Graces at all.
When I defeated morgott and claimed his great rune, he still lives for a bit to give his final words and the interesting thing is that he is grey and lanky looking but no horn growths are upon the body once you took his great rune from him, which made me wonder about the omen curse and the golden order connection. rhykard and radahn also share a rune but the lord of blasphamy has a serpent on his half.
Re: the albinaurics in the Moghwyn area, my theory is that because the portal to that area is in the concentrated snowfields, just like the entrance to the haligtree is, some Albinaurics arrive in the area seeking the Haligtree and use that portal thinking it goes there. This could easily happen even to the player themselves as the haligtree entrance is hidden via a puzzle and guarded by the powerful 1st gen albinaurics. Once the Albinaurics use that portal they're stuck and either convinced or forced to eventually become the red omen Albinaurics. That would explain why the normal Albinaurics look so defeated in the entrance area; there's literally no escape from that place (AFAIK) except teleporting through grace. So they sought the Haligtree but are now doomed to serve Mogh.
There are also albinaurics hanging out at Rose church in Liurnia. They seem hesitant to enter it. Possibly because of the sanguine noble. He could be being recruiting or abducting them as well. Poor albinaurics :(
In a way miquella and mohg are mirrors and reverses of each other; they are both a part of a set of twins, one set care deeply for each other and want to protect/help their sibling, while the other set deeply oppose what the other stands for/with. Both miquella and mohg want to give the outcasts a place to belong and are trusted deeply/honoured by those that follow them
I do love the lack of a "moral" good in Elden Ring. In Dark Souls, while the dark was often presented as evil or villianous, it only took a little bit of digging to realise that it was just misunderstood, and the evil it generated wasn't from it's own nature but from the enshacklement of the gods. In this game though, there isn't really a sole source of good. Shabriri and the Frenzied Flame do oppose the two fingers, but they are inherintly coniving and manipulative. Mohg and his dynasty, while embracing their wrongly hated blood, do follow the will of a greater one who could be manipulating them just as the being who sent the Elden Beast is manipulating the Lands Between. It's really a matter of perspective, which I think adds a really nice flavor of personal interpretation to the lore of this game. Although I must say Radahn is definitely the best character in the game. Morally, coolest, best fight, etc. Generally raw as fuck
Eh idk the age of dark/deep from what i learned is just as bad as the age of fire, nothing but Islands in a bottomless stagnant ocean where giant bugs and winged humanoids exist oh and let's not forget our dear nightmare friends the angels who are the dark's equivalent of the chaos demons.
@@thememeilator2633 A youtuber, Last Protagonist, goes into detail about the dark, deep, and the abyss. It seems that the dark has a relation to water. From is a Japanese company, and it is likely Shintoism's concepts of water had an influence on Darks Soul's dark. As a small summary in Shintoism, there is purity in flowing water and conversely there is uncleanliness and corruption in stagnate water. In stagnate water vermin such as mosquitos and flies flourish. So it is likely that the deep isn't the dark but a corrupted version due the halting of the age of dark.
idk about a moral good in Elden Ring, I admit that I haven't gone through everything yet but from what I have seen so far those that rebelled against the golden order like Rykard, Ranni, and the Dung Eater have done a lot of messed up things with seemingly little justification for it.
Ascended Miquella could be an insane boss fight in the DLC. Imagine a phase 1 where he is corrupted by blood, and then he uses his power to rid himself of the accursed blood and fights us in his natural form for phase 2. so many possibilities
That would be awesome, as much as I'd like to fight him as his corrupted blood god form, I would love even more to fight him as himself with his own unalloyed gold powers. Malenia says he's the most fearsome empyrean so we definitely need to see why.
I've constantly wondered how strong morgott would be if he didn't do everything in his power to hold back his curse rather than embracing it. I'd like to think he'd become top 4 or 5 in terms of difficulty
do you know that he probably defeated radahn or possibly pushed his army back to caelid. i am not saying morgott is more stronger. radahn is without any doubt more stronger than any demi gods. but it definetly show that what morgott is capable to.
@@HerMi.T you talking about the intro? That was quite clearly a very young radahn as his the same size as morgott in the image, he probably had just learnt gravity magic
@@skinless5136 his army fought against rykard army not he fight rykard himself. there is no record that he fought rykard. infact, rykard body is immortal. I mean everyone is immortal in elden ring but when you killed their soul they go back into erdtree to feed it or probably regenerate itself if tree needs them but rykard is superior than this. he can't be killed in conventional way and he can even come back into life with his own power. In short, it is impossible for anyone to truly killed him.
I'm convinced that Mohg is planning on having a kid with Miquella somehow and that child will be named Moghwyn. We've already seen that the gods don't really have to reproduce in a conventional way given the whole Marika and Radogan thing. Mohg's references to his Dynasty sound like he is trying to start a family, a new lineage. If Miquella emerges from his cocoon, I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see him take a feminine or androgynous form. Especially since he was cursed to have the body of an infant, giving a sense of unfinished malleability to him. Following the themes of alchemy in the game, gold is also a fairly malleable, soft metal when it is pure (unalloyed). Mohg mixing his blood with Miquella in the cocoon could be a way of creating a new alloy by tainting Miquella's purity.
You may be on to something. I thought Mohg may have been off his rocker, most likely due to the influence of the Formless Mother so that she could taint an Empyrean especially one that can resist influence of the outer gods. But I think your idea of Mohg using his blood to form Miquella in such a way to be able to have a child with him makes more sense.
i think that Mohg actually refers to Miquella when he says his last words, seeing as Miquella is currently transforming in the cocoon, possibly ascending to full godhood and becoming a vessel to Formless Mother, thus the similarities between names Gohdwyn and Mohgwyn: Mohg wishes to make Miquella a being comparable to Gohdwyn in power, and become his consort (sorry if something is incomprehensible, English is my third language lmao)
You may be right, but I don't think Mogh would want to have a child with Miquella, rather, he could be trying to reform Miquella into a sort of god-vessel-offspring. By combining Miquellas child body, the corruption of an outer god and his own genes/omen blood, to grow a pseudo-son.
I’m very fascinated by mohg’s lore in general, but I just want to take a moment to appreciate his voice acting as well. even though he only has a few lines, the way they’re delivered tells so much. you can hear the tenderness in his voice under his villainous facade - even though miquella is practically dead, mohg takes care not to wake him up by speaking softly, and he turns away before speaking louder. even when he “yells”, you can tell his voice physically is not used to shouting. it’s gravelly and messy and it gives you the impression he’s been whispering this entire time - either to keep himself secret or to not wake miquella (probably a combination of both). mohg isn’t some barbaric lord - he’s soft-spoken and cunning, and is honestly slowly growing the most influence out of any of the demigods. and this is from less than ten lines. incredible va job
The Omen Curse itself is a very interesting aspect of the lore and it makes the Dung Eater an even more interesting character. At first he might look like a "chaotic evil" character for no apparent reason but the more you know about him the more he starts becoming kind of a personification of "vengeance" or hatred towards prejudiced people to the point of cursing every single living being that comes in future generations. It makes me wonder what kind of person he was before all this in times of peace. I'm not a lore expert and I don't know if it's said anywhere so I just let my imagination wander. Maybe he was a father of a child who was born with the Omen Curse and was killed or something like that and that's why he went on this crusade to burn the world and curse everybody. Which is actually pretty interesting giving the fact that he's actually creating a world where the concept of death is reintroduced and everybody is equal. Just a fascinating character overall.
His reason to do that is because he feel like an Omen and can simpatize with them and becuse of that he thinks it's wrong that there get hunted. So he started hunting hunens and creating Omen things out of there corpses, which in the end created a rune that makes everyone an Omen and everyone equal. I love how he makes out of something that evil, something good that would help the world. (not every thing I say is proved it is a bit of interpretation and speculation)
It's still not the proper solution to abuse and bigotry. A curse will always be a curse, no matter if it becomes universal. Even if it became that all humans experienced, say, CANCER, at the age of 40, it WOULD become normal eventually. But we would always revile it, and seek to undo it. Omens suffer nightmares inflicted by malicious spirits. Omens are BORN covered in horns, which cannot be good for the mother, which is something people always forget to mention. In the end? It's still a curse not because dogma says it is, but because of its effects on people's quality of life.
I sat down to watch 20 minutes and continue it later, ended up watching the whole thing. You're seriously on another level making these lore videos and I can't wait for the nokron video!
I've noticed in the haligtree area, there's a spirit laying in the snow that tried to stop Mogh, and directly ahead of him is the portal to Moghwhyn, with an albinauric guarding it. the portal leads directly to a spot where blood albinauris standing over regular ones. i believe a majority of the albinaurics are from haligtree and originally came for Miquilla.
Same. I believe they came for Miquella and were then Corrupted by Mogh's blood. But some of them could've willingly joined him, or believed Miquella abandoned the Haligtree and tried to make a new dynasty with Mogh so they joined "them" for that reason. The 2nd generation of Albanaurics don't seem super clever so it could be all of these things
@@noamias4897 seriouslt, that whole race deserves Darwin awards. I also noticed that Moghwynn was one of two places you can't find nobles, but there's bodies of them hanging all over the blood lake. You can find them in haligtree though, and the spirit is one of them.
Given the relatively large body of information we have on the Formless Mother (compared to the goddess of rot for example), I’m surprised we don’t get an ending based around her. It would have been cool to take over the Moghwyn Dynasty in some way to continue the goals of the Formless Mother but maybe future DLC will do something with that idea. The Cocoon of the Empyrean definitely has something to do with future DLC at the very least.
That’s is the only thing I wish was different about the endings, I wish you could align with people. Like when I got to Malenia I wanted to be like “Let’s team up? I found where that weirdo stashed your brother and we can go get him like right now” lololol
You could argue that dung eaters ending is the formless mother ending since creating additional omen will empower the formless mother and give her more champions
I think the reason accursed blood is the most useful medium for the formless mother is because it is separated from grace. The lands between are under the control and influence of the Greater Will, so every creature has some degree of grace running through them. So when Mohg was cast out, he was literally shunned and separated from the Greater Will's control, and his blood was no longer graced. So the Formless Mother, as an outer god in contest with the Greater Will, was then able to give her "grace" to Mohg.
Miquella's story is going to have such a tragic end. As you said, he seems to be the only demigod that actually cared about others. Fantastic video! You have drawn some really interesting conclusions from the environmental story telling and I like how your theories are in the aggregate throughout all your videos. It's clear that you've put much effort into this. Looking forward to more!!
Is it just me or does the throne or pedestal holding Miquella’s cocoon look a lot like a pelvic bone? The symbolism is actually pretty interesting as Miquella is yet to be really born or reborn from his protective cocoon (or uterus?) Orphan of Kos 2.0 incoming with the DLC?
I find it very interesting that the influence of the Outer Gods tends to be most powerful underground. As you mentioned in the video, Mohg communed with the Formless Mother deep underground. The doomed Nomadic Merchant clan summoned the Outer God of the Flame of Frenzy when they were buried alive, deep underground. And the Lake of Rot we also find deep underground as well, which as we now know, the Scarlet Rot is the influence of an Outer God. And we find the greatest quantity of that Rot deep underground below Nokstella. It makes me wonder what lies below the Lands Between. While the influence of the Stars seem to be held at bay by Radahn, beneath the Lands Between seems to be where the Outer Gods have the greatest influence.
The lands between implies that there is something above and below. What are these places? Heaven and hell? The outer god's we would perceive as "evil" (rot, blood etc) come from below, those we perceive as "good" either come from above or reach up above IE the greater good and the erd tree. I don't have anything to add to what you've said but the name of the lands between has kept peaking my interest
The Flame of Ruin worshipped by the giants is also the power of an Outer God. Curiously, it is very high above ground, almost matching the Erdtree. I believe the fire god from which it comes is the only one to engage in open conflict with the Greater Will as well, during the war with the giants. Perhaps this symbolism, along with the fact that the aforementioned flame is the only thing that can burn the Erdtree, implies that these two beings are more or less equals while others scheme underground.
It is possible that they are underground because the erdtree has driven them there, the underground outer gods seem to be growing in power whilst the erdtree has reached its peak. They are biding their time.
Gideon says that the Lord of Blood is "deluded about 'reviving' his dynasty". The Omen are certainly linked to the crucible. So, I think that the 'Mother of Truth' was the main god in the lands between, before the greater will and the age of the Erd tree. Thus bestowing the blood of her former subjects with power.
Another point to keep in mind is that it says that Malenia/Milicent's gold needle is "one of" the ones that Miquella crafted. I'd wager a guess that he made one for himself too, and that is why Mohg's plan to corrupt him with the formless mother's influence failed, at least in part. Also Mohg's obsession with becoming Miquella's consort, may have been a later development due to Miquella's allure affecting him.
So I may be a small part of the audience but I don't mind long lore vids. Infact they have rewatch value cuz I can come back and see and hear things I missed or glosses over. I still watch the plot against the gods by hawkshaw. Thanks for the lore analysis. You don't know how important for those of us that crave the lore but are too lazy to scroll through wikis
@@SmoughTown Likewise, I love taking the time to watch them start to finish. 5-10 min lore videos aren’t really lore so much as brief summaries of story components imo. I also really appreciate your complete lack of clickbait in your titles and content, can’t say the same for other certain souls creators.
@@SmoughTown of course, Gotta give credit where it’s due! Amazing stuff Smough. This is great to listen to while working. I really like the fact that you talk in a normal pace, while everyone else is aping VaatiVidya's slow melodramatic crawl. It really helps a lot with the listening experience. Thank you!
Mohg has always stood out as my favorite boss in the game. His and Morgott's symbolism as the two major reactions to abuse was very cool to me, also his horns are cool
I keep feeling we're missing endings: Lately i've had the guess that we're literally in the Lands Between God Realms, and our journey is that of resolving the God War, after seeing this and miquella's video i have the feeling that we're missing an Unalloyed ending, a Blood Ending and a 5 finger ending. and each ending means one god winning the war through the actions of the tarnished
@@Mad_Tongues Rot ending still needs some more elaboration besides malenia, as the god of rot seems to be very incidental even for FromSoft's standards of storytelling
Look up Blood (1997), a parallel shooter game to Doom It's what the dev's were playing as a child Bloodborne is literally Blood-born Mogh is the latest echo of Chernovog's brood
Also powerscaling-wise Mohg does minor spacial bending instead of emenation or evocation of his blood magic. He sticks his hand into a portal or stabs into a portal. Really cool
Lots to digest in this video but one thing that stood out to me was Miquella himself. If he was so resistant to outer gods influence, maybe that's why he hasn't awoken yet despite all of Mohg's effort. Perhaps he was resisting the Mohg and the Formless Mother's influence as he sleeps until he forms until the god of his own design. Obviously he'll be corrupted due to the blood ritual, and in his fury, he lashes out at us and starts the boss fight. Hopefully the DLC answers questions about Miquella because he seems to be in everything. Though we'll probably get more questions than answers considering it is FromSoft lol.
How do we know he would be corrupted? If he can resist the outer gods why can't he resist a ritual especially after the main one who did that ritual is dead?
Don't apologise for longer videos. I, for one, am happy to have them, even though I'm sure it takes so much more work. Also, not necessarily a miss, per say, but Mohg's consorting and sharing his bed chambers with Miquella immediately made me think of Fia The Death Bed Companion and a piece of dialogue she had about changing or rebirthing the dead through her "work." I think it's worth looking into what exactly the "magic" of a Death Bed Companion is in Elden Ring, as I think a similar sort of thing is being done to/with Miquella. But I've only gone through one playthrough so far (at 185 hours). Taking a bit of a break before I go in for another.
@@SmoughTown Again, not for me. I listen to these (and have in the past with Dark Souls) while I draw. So longer just means more inspiration...and less time I have to click the phone to find another video. 😅
22:53 Gonna have to contradict that detail. I don't think it's Margott making the Mohg illusion in the depths. Because that illusion still persists past Margott's defeat in the capital. Meanwhile Margit in Stormveil does not persist after his defeat (and this is assuming you skipped stormveil and got radahn and rennala's runes to make it to altus without godrick's rune). I think the Frenzied Flame is one thing they do still have a silent agreement to work together on suppressing. Both placing a barrier in a sense.
except mohg the omen _also_ persists if you kill mohg lord of blood. somehow it's independent from both of them? feels like an oversight, cause it's definitely meant to be an illusion of some kind (disappears in gold like margit, and also immune to all statuses).
@@alexisprice1848 his illusion does not speak at all, while both of the Margit illusions (stormveil and outside the capital) do. That may have an implication that he's not actually controlling it while Morgott is directly controlling his.

@@fireblast133 true, although at the same time, Elden Ring seems to have the highest amount of recycled boss fights in the entire soulsborne, so I'm honestly not sure. Would have loved an option to become Mohg or Miquella’s shadow, and enforce their rule in a world of Blood, vengeance, and curses, or whatever goals the corrupted Miquella would have
These twins are two sides of the same coin, both yearning desperately for love but finding opposite ways, morgott finding it in the family that shunned him while mohg found it in the formless mother, the one who I believe gave him his curse, as that whole area is full of the omen being, with dung eater and mohg, and the fell omen rune you can get from dung eater that I believe the formless mother is the god of the omen and their creators Edit: and yes they found it, both of them, morgott with the erdtree giving grace and mohg with the formless mother, but the irony is not lost
Morgott using gold magic also makes sense as if he pushes his accursed blood into his sword his body can connect to the Erdtree completely without the corrupted Omen blood
You mention Gideon in this video, specifically his thoughts about Mohg. I think you covered everything I was clued into about Mohg, so I'll talk about Gideon. I think it's kind of great that Gideon is "All Knowing" and he works tirelessly to "accumulate knowledge" but his major flaw is ignorance. He's ignorant towards his adopted daughter, he's ignorant towards you. He's ignorant to the world outside, perhaps it's because he doesn't really LEAVE the roundtable, but stays there reading the books that are present. He's quick to dismiss Mohg as a raving lunatic simply because he *doesn't know*. but also refuses to follow up on Mohg himself. The only way to change his mind is to actually present him with new knowledge beyond his books; he won't seek it out himself. Could this also mean that people can feed him lies and he accepts it as truth as long as it doesn't contradict with his prior knowledge? What I'd really like to know is what exactly did he figure out to make him confront us at the end?
There are a few characters (Latenna, A Finger Reader Crone, and possibly others) who refer to Gideon as “the all-hearing” instead of “the all-knowing.” It’s clear that this is still Gideon, but I wonder if it’s a name they use as a mockery of his more common moniker. All-Hearing doesn’t necessarily mean that he can understand everything he hears; like you say, he often is too ignorant to, despite often having the info around him. It’s why he can get tricked so easily by Albus hiding in a pot. He hears, but he doesn’t listen. He doesn’t actually know.
@@tkri Dude's helm had ear-shaped designs on its sides. He was also buried with ears in the beginning cinematic. Just some cool details the game put in to really hammer in the characterization.
@@traeshyNOTtrashy there are eyes as well buried with him and some eyes on his armor, most notable a big one on the chest but on the knees I think as well
Latenna calls him the "all hearing brute" By all hearing she means that he hears all but doesn't truly know the reality of certain things By brute she could either just refer to the fact he killed her wolf oorrr to the fact he is stubborn and stupid even though he claims to be smart And I think this describes Gideon perfectly
Man I already thought Elden Ring was a masterpiece, but when I hear of all the lore behind it elevates it to a whole new level of absolute piece of art.
You’re a scholar, sir. Really impressed that you called out that Miquella looks like he would be there for an interactable purpose years before he actually was. Kudos.

Something I haven't seen anyone talk about is that the cocoon sits atop a pelvis, which has the imagery of a womb. Maybe that's really obvious and there's answers that the game explicitly gives (that I havent come across) but Im just interested in knowing more about that.
I immediately thought of Mohg maybe using the pelvis as a means to represent the Formless Mother. Miquella is effectively being reborn as a God in adult form when he cocooned himself in the Haligtree so using a pelvis as the altar he rests on awaiting rebirth seemed appropriate. I thought perhaps the pelvis was part of the haligtree given the facial components of the tree we see during Malenia’s fight but I think it being Pelvis shaped to represent the formless mother makes more sense imo. Would love more details on all of it though, it’s beyond fascinating.
It would be interesting to see if future dlc would allow the player to give Miquella the unalloyed gold needle in order to shield him from the influence of the formless mother and thus make Miquellas vision of the lands between without meddling outer gods a reality.
I am loving your super in depth Elden Ring lore videos. This one was another banger. Can’t wait to see what topic you cover next. I personally love the longer form videos. The longer the better.
@@SmoughTown I think it was a strength if anything. It allowed for a deeper dive into the lore and exploration the viewer really gets to sink their teeth into. Really great stuff man.
Really nice video! I didn't even notice the omen horns on the sanguine noble and blood albinaurics, that's a very clever detail. Subscribed to see more from you. I do think the end of the video discounts the intensity of the one-sided personal relationship between Mohg and Miquella; I think it's fair to speculate that Miquella's natural allure may be corrupting Mohg just as much as Mohg's blood rituals are corrupting Miquella, if not more. It's notable that Mohg seems to have ceased all activity toward building his dynasty in favor of the seemingly divine pleasure of just sleeping beside Miquella. Varre's storyline indicates both that there was a time in the past that Mohg was much more actively involved with his people and that in the present he has forsaken whatever promises he made to them in the past (Varre's death dialogue). Anyway great stuff!
Found this channel by "accident", and I'm happy about it. Elden Ring has sparked a lot of interest for its lore in me, and I love long videos I can just listen to while I do other things
There's something interesting going on with the 2 fights with Mohg. Both Mogh and Morgott fight us twice (Morgot fights us 3 times if you count the random encounter). In Morgott's case we first fight him as an illusion, after you finish the first encounter it's revealed that you've been fighting an illusion and you can hear Morgott's warning as the illusions disappeares. You can also skip his first encounter without cheesing the game, it's an option within the game itself, and if you do and kill him directly at the Erdtree, the first encounter is simply canceled, because, well he's dead. That doesn't happen with Mohg. Regardless of the order in which you play out the 2 encounters (I've tested it), you can still play out both encounters. I was expecting at least for the underground encounter to get canceled after you fight Mohg in Miquella's arena, in a similar fashion as Morgott. It could be that both bosses are just avatars of Mohg. The one underground manifests himself out of thin air, the one in the arena appears from Miquella's pool of blood. Yes you could say he's somehow teleporting in both cases, but that doesn't explain why he's still alive in one area after you've killed him in the other. Either the devs missed this detail, or it's intended and he is not dead even after you finish the game. DLC?
when you mentioned "two of there own" it reminds me of the dialougue of a ghost near the masoluem on the bottom parts of the map. it says that the demigods in the masoluem are marika's unwated soulless children.
Mohg and Rykard should team up in the DLC. It could legit be a whole gothic blood themed nightmare. Rykard regrows and looks for an Ally to help him destroy the current Elden Lord (you). Mohg allows Rykard to eat him and the serpent morphs and grows horns. Also, when Rykard speaks you hear his voice and Mohg’s. Imagine fighting The Serpent and it crawls into The Formless Mother and climbs out somewhere else, accursed blood everywhere, holding a new trident.
@@crusadetactician149 well technically wouldn’t Mogh be everywhere? When we fought him he completely change matter from blood liquid to his natural form.
@SmoughTown I am unsure if you have as of yet come across this, but in case you have not, I believe I MIGHT have found a small, vague and yet provocative connection between the Formless Mother and Dragon Communion. I refer to the Dragon Communion Seal item description. ''Formless drakeblood seal with a dragon communion crest. The sacrificial devouring of the heart gives power. Indeed, Dragon Communion is too primal in nature for the term ''incantation'' to be appropriate. This seal scales incantations with one's arcane attribute.'' Now I'd like to point out a few noteworthy points in this. 1. It is described as being a seal of *formless drakeblood*. A very specific and very suspicious descriptor. 2. Dragon Communion is a process where you devour a dragons *heart*, the organ known for pumping blood throughout the body. 3. The seal scales incantations with the arcane attribute, and is the only seal to do this. Arcane also boosts bleed status build up. 4. Dragon Communion is a *sacrificial* ritual. Sacrifices of blood and empowerment of blood are also done by the Mohgwyn Dynasty, which serves the Formless Mother. 5. With the ''Shadow of the Erdtree'' DLC revealing a new demigod, Messmer the Impaler, who adorns a dragon-like aesthetic AND uses bloodflame, this connection may be solidified depending on how the DLC goes. 6. There is a Drake Knight who serves Mohg known as Eleonora, the Violet Bloody Finger. She has been known to use Dragon Communion incantations. I realise these connections may not be much in the way of evidence. However, knowing Miyazaki and FromSoftware Games, it may be plausible and should not be overlooked.
I think it's really interesting how a theme throughout Mohg and how he is perceived progresses. He has been shunned, disregarded, and ridiculed hi entire life, because of how he was born. It makes sense to me how he grew to love his accursed blood. While Morgott is ashamed, likely due to the same ridicule Mohg got, instead he was deluded into thinking that what he was born into was as terrible as they say, and went to great lengths to seal away that part of himself, and compensate with his devotion to the golden order. For Mohg, I think the curse for him was the only thing that he could truely call his own. And of course, when the formless mother granted him audience, his accursed blood was in turn validated, and his yearning for a new dynasty, and perhaps eventually overthrowing the golden order, spawned not only of the ambitions of the formeless mother, but through Mohg's confinement throughout his life. It's no surprise he would want to rule his own great dynasty, and prove to the greater will and everyone else above who he was; the Lord of Blood. In the end, the accursed blood that he was shunned for ended up being the great attribute that not only granted him audience with the formless mother, but gave him incredible strength. Mohg and Morgott are the most interesting characters in the game to me, although personally there's a lot more I need to find out about Morgott to get a full picture of his character.
This is by far one of the most interesting story lines in my eyes within ER. I'm glad someone put this together to find things I may have missed looking through it all. Miquella is definitely interesting, and I really do hope they continue with that story line with future DLC.
Something i recently noticed is that the crucible knights can summon either wings (mohg), or a tail (morgott). This along with them originating from an era where omen wernt persecuted is very intriguing to me.
Amazing lore video, it actually changed my own attitude towards Mohg, as I mistreated him as just a lunatic with absolutely insane ideas which were not really based on reality. One thing that made me wonder - why there are no other Omens by Mohg's side ? It actually makes sense for any omen to side with Mohg, who embraced his accursed blood, and tried to build a new world without Golden Order's influence , however there are no Omens in Moghwyn masoleum , and only omens that can be kind of in service of Mohg are there who present in the Catacombs , where they serve as guardians , because I really doubt that they were sent here back in a day by Leyndell nobility, as the Shuning Grounds are already a thing , and there is no reason to send them even deeper. Tho maybe I'm delusional there, and it's either EVERY omen in the Shuning Ground are followers of Mohg and that's why they are equiped with weapons in his servise ( yeah, it was once mentioned that omens were somitimes used as a cannonfodder iirc , but still, there is no reason to keep them equiped with weapons when thay are not needed) , or none among the Omens follow their demigod.
i think it is because of morgott. morgott is omen himself but he hate it. that's why he hate us tarnished who are worthless like him but given grace because of complete desperation from the part of greater will to gain control of this land through someone taking control of elden ring. he probably hate those omens as well. that's why he probably doesn't allowed them to leave shunning ground even after shattering.

Just finished both this and your Miquella video, both of them were so well researched and articulated that it really gave me a better appreciation for the lore. Thank you for putting these together!
You can actually find the corpse of a Crow who has succumbed to the tainted blood near the entrance of the blood-lake that’s filled with Albinaurics, it looks like it’s dissolved into the blood lake with really only its head still visible, which is pretty gruesome and it really shows the adverse effects of the tainted blood on the wildlife
Not... Really... It's a GRRM story and they're all like ancient mythological gods.

“Cross my heart and hope to die, MY HORN IS IN MY FUCKING EYE!”
Fear the old blood, as they say
Bloodborne vibes
We are born of the blood.
Made men by the blood.
Undone by the blood.
But above all, fear the omen blood.
Does morgott know about mogh though?
Maybe he thinks Mogh is dead?
@@sanguineregis5354 unless he thinks the projection IS Mogh and sealed him away as both a safeguard against someone taking the frenzied flame and to seal his brother away

@@SirGrimLockSmithVIII my thoughts exactly, from the way he talks about his other siblings in his boss intro, i doubt hed think much different of mohg

It would have been incredibly easy to do the former especially with the Greater Will exerting such powerful control over her.
would every individual tarnished have thier own personal maiden tho? i dont think so
@@todo9633 The Greater Will doesn't give much of a shit about that, it was Marika who envisioned and enacted a form of order in which the omen are treated the way they are, it may be terrible but that is still order.
@@samb123078 Thanks for the reminders. I hope that there will be a DLC based on him with a new ending. He needs a new 'lord' after all.
He probably killed ours to dip his nug...I mean cloth in.
Apparently Seluvis killed her.

@@Furigou It's pretty heavily implied in the description
@@jesustyronechrist2330 interesting theory!
@@jesustyronechrist2330 I think you hit the nail on the head and now I’m gonna read all of the descriptions with his amazing accent
Here after the DLC.
Mogh deserved better.
They deserved each other.
Thats would be great but it possibly would suck for a new player siding with mohg but not wanting his ending unknowingly
The removal of the covenants system was a mistake.

Miquella is gonna have one hell of a hangover if he ever wakes up
Don’t take a shot every time you hear “blood”, you will die
That said, Mohg is definitely one of the most fascinating characters in this game, especially given his connection to another outer god, and I’m in total agreement that something will occur with Miquella’s cocoon in the future, I have this image in my head of an inter dimensional world inside of the cocoon but only time will tell
Maybe they’ll do a dream sequence or something? Like after defeating Mohg you touch Miquella’s hand and are transported to his unconscious/dream. Kind of like with what happens when we touch Fia for her quest.
That’s the opposite of the mohg fight where every time he says nihil if you don’t take a shot you will die
I personally believe that some of Miquela’s power rubbed off onto
Mohg, and that is why people refer to him with love.
True, Mohg doesn't know about the Outer God of Rot so why wouldn't he pursue Malenia instead? Using courting methods, not abduction of course, because he might get his ass kicked then
@@dunkleham since he can commune with the formless mother she would probably say:
“This one is already aligned with another one of me so get another person”
I love this idea honestly with as little as we learn about Miquela he very easily could be like Gwendolyn where he's not AS bad as the other demigods/goddess (atleast imo) but still a egotist of sorts
It's pretty interesting that Mohg when deciding to create this new dinasty was fixated with Miquella, and both Malenia and Mohg seem to desire him the most out of everyone
Malenia being his sister is undersrandable, but Mohg?
Meeting this outer God that grants him powers to his accursed blood shoukd have very little to do, yet the first thing he chooses to do to start the dinasty is to kidnap Miquella, and we don't even know how he was able to know his powers
It seems kind of weird to me Miqella would purposely attract Mohg tho, as being kidnapped from a place like the Haligtree where everyone is accepted seems counter-intuitive
My guess is that the outer god, the formless mother somehow told him to do so and that this mother is linked to Miquella in someway
About the Rose Church I also find it very interesting that there is no grace on its island. Might mean something given that there are graces in a lot of less important places on the Liurnia marshes.
An excellent point!
Lore wise I believe personally that he strays from graces as another spit in the face of the order , he has a couple as ways for recruits to come in , the farm spot one for easy transportations of albinuracs and the one in his area for his own uses
Aren't graces just fragments of the elden ring? I can't remember where I heard that but that's what I've been going with for now
@@yourlaughhere Mohg likely isn’t Grace-Given and Albinaurics wouldn’t be either so it’s probably not for transportation for them specifically. Could be for any Grace-Given knights but it seems rare that Tarnished can see Graces at all.
@@SorowFame I thought shardbearers could see graces , I forgot that it’s just head canon anyway
Also felt really smart for noticing this. Seems significant, too lazy to theorize. Need YT content to understand. Please Mr. Town, grant us eyes
Maybe its a kind of rejection from the body because the shard is a foreign body being implanted into its holders
Oh shit that's good.
W
Those big nose eye snakes in dark souls seem evil tbh
@@magnem1043 they are on either side of the conflict tho?

Mohg mixing his blood with Miquella in the cocoon could be a way of creating a new alloy by tainting Miquella's purity.
new bottom surgery just dropped: get corrupted by your brother's magic blood
You may be on to something. I thought Mohg may have been off his rocker, most likely due to the influence of the Formless Mother so that she could taint an Empyrean especially one that can resist influence of the outer gods. But I think your idea of Mohg using his blood to form Miquella in such a way to be able to have a child with him makes more sense.
i think that Mohg actually refers to Miquella when he says his last words, seeing as Miquella is currently transforming in the cocoon, possibly ascending to full godhood and becoming a vessel to Formless Mother, thus the similarities between names Gohdwyn and Mohgwyn: Mohg wishes to make Miquella a being comparable to Gohdwyn in power, and become his consort
(sorry if something is incomprehensible, English is my third language lmao)
@@yoyo-vf9sy miquella is already as powerful as Godwyn, he’s ‘the most fearsome empyrean of all’
You may be right, but I don't think Mogh would want to have a child with Miquella, rather, he could be trying to reform Miquella into a sort of god-vessel-offspring.
Knowing GRRM, the endings we think are bad are actually the best and vice versa lol
His reason to do that is because he feel like an Omen and can simpatize with them and becuse of that he thinks it's wrong that there get hunted.
So he started hunting hunens and creating Omen things out of there corpses, which in the end created a rune that makes everyone an Omen and everyone equal.

In the end?
This is my thoughts, I hope it's explored in the dlc

The dung eater ending is a formless mother ending since every generation will have tainted blood
@@Focus716 same lmao
I think the reason accursed blood is the most useful medium for the formless mother is because it is separated from grace. The lands between are under the control and influence of the Greater Will, so every creature has some degree of grace running through them. So when Mohg was cast out, he was literally shunned and separated from the Greater Will's control, and his blood was no longer graced. So the Formless Mother, as an outer god in contest with the Greater Will, was then able to give her "grace" to Mohg.
Miquella's story is going to have such a tragic end. As you said, he seems to be the only demigod that actually cared about others.

Is it just me or does the throne or pedestal holding Miquella’s cocoon look a lot like a pelvic bone?
The symbolism is actually pretty interesting as Miquella is yet to be really born or reborn from his protective cocoon (or uterus?)
Orphan of Kos 2.0 incoming with the DLC?
Crazy thing is when you his miquellas arm it makes a squelching sound and you can see blood come out, which suggests he's still alive.

@@Alpha_omega_102 I just took this as the blood that Mohg had his follower give to reawaken Miquella seeping out and Mohg transporting through it.
Very interesting observation
I think Mohg has some kind of influence in the land of Reeds since it’s heavily implied that many of the bloody fingers we face are from there.

Given the Land of Reeds is in a constant bloody civil war, I wouldn't be surprised

Not necesarily mohg. But formless Mother im sure does have some reign there.

@@MainerZ and that was the bloated corpse of the good game!
👌appreciate that as I was concerned the length would put people off
@@SmoughTown Again, not for me. I listen to these (and have in the past with Dark Souls) while I draw. So longer just means more inspiration...and less time I have to click the phone to find another video. 😅
And not to mention, I find your videos amongst the best and most thought-provoking.
@@fireblast133 Fromsoft: Think they'll notice if we just copy a boss fight? Nah, most people probably won't get to either sewer Mohg or real Mohg, much less both of them, it'll be fiiiiiineeeee.
Elden Ring players: 3 hours long lore videos losing their absolute mind trying to find a fool-proof answer of who put Mohg the Omen down there and how.
@@rateater1857 truth be told there's rarely not a reason for something being in a certain spot, not even bosses.
@@fireblast133 true, although at the same time, Elden Ring seems to have the highest amount of recycled boss fights in the entire soulsborne, so I'm honestly not sure. In some cases it makes sense like Margit/Morgott, or Loretta's spirit in Caria Manor/the actual Loretta. In some cases you have some explanation but it's kind of thin, like Godrick the Grafted/Godefroy the Grafted. In yet other cases............- Ulcerated Tree Spirit go BRRRRR.
Thank you smough…thank you for making AN HOUR LONG VIDEO! You helped me burn an hour outta a 12 hour work day(pen guard in Canada).
I’m glad I was able to help you get through a shift 🙏hope the rest of the day was great
Would have loved an option to become Mohg or Miquella’s shadow, and enforce their rule in a world of Blood, vengeance, and curses, or whatever goals the corrupted Miquella would have
These twins are two sides of the same coin, both yearning desperately for love but finding opposite ways, morgott finding it in the family that shunned him while mohg found it in the formless mother, the one who I believe gave him his curse, as that whole area is full of the omen being, with dung eater and mohg, and the fell omen rune you can get from dung eater that I believe the formless mother is the god of the omen and their creators
Edit: and yes they found it, both of them, morgott with the erdtree giving grace and mohg with the formless mother, but the irony is not lost
Morgott using gold magic also makes sense as if he pushes his accursed blood into his sword his body can connect to the Erdtree completely without the corrupted Omen blood
Also he probably cannot touch gold directly, which is why hes using spells to summon holy weapons, while the physical form is an accursed staff
@@traeshyNOTtrashy there are eyes as well buried with him and some eyes on his armor, most notable a big one on the chest but on the knees I think as well
Latenna calls him the "all hearing brute"
By all hearing she means that he hears all but doesn't truly know the reality of certain things
By brute she could either just refer to the fact he killed her wolf oorrr to the fact he is stubborn and stupid even though he claims to be smart
And I think this describes Gideon perfectly
@@dragonslayer3552 Well brute maybe because he ordered the destruction of the albinauric village, if I'm not mistaken.
Kudos.
I have been watching since high school. In law school now, and these excellent videos perpetually bring a smile to my overworked face.
Cheers for the good times mate
It absolute blows me away that people have supported me that long. From the bottom of my heart thank you
Something I haven't seen anyone talk about is that the cocoon sits atop a pelvis, which has the imagery of a womb.
I love your lore videos! Don't apologize for it being long! I wish it was 3 hours long. You did an amazing job
Glad you enjoy it!
Mohg and all his atmosphere and lore are my favorite in the game. Good story telling my dude.
Smough, my g, literally no one wants shorter videos. These are class.
Favorite boss in the game! Wish there was an ending as a Lord of Blood
👌I’m glad you think so, was worried the long form would be a detriment
We Stan a confident king who views his deformity as his strength 🙌
He takes it rather well! Instead of sticking underground he gains himself a title, Lord of Blood.
Sigma grindset
DLC?
Mogh's design is sick. Especially when the wings come out. Reminds me of Samael from Darksiders which is another great design.
I watched a lot of ER lore recently but seriously nothing came close to our posts. Outstanding job, many thanks for sharing!
when you mentioned "two of there own" it reminds me of the dialougue of a ghost near the masoluem on the bottom parts of the map. it says that the demigods in the masoluem are marika's unwated soulless children.
Well mogh is dead but rykard is regenerating
@@crusadetactician149 well technically wouldn’t Mogh be everywhere? When we fought him he completely change matter from blood liquid to his natural form.
Makes sense since Rykard has no plans to make his own dynasty he just wants the Golden Order gods to fuck off so it's not like Mogh would rival him
@SmoughTown I am unsure if you have as of yet come across this, but in case you have not, I believe I MIGHT have found a small, vague and yet provocative connection between the Formless Mother and Dragon Communion.
I refer to the Dragon Communion Seal item description.
''Formless drakeblood seal with a dragon communion crest.
The sacrificial devouring of the heart gives power.
Indeed, Dragon Communion is too primal in nature for the term ''incantation'' to be appropriate.
This seal scales incantations with one's arcane attribute.''
Now I'd like to point out a few noteworthy points in this.
The Demon Souls OST was a very nice touch. Very fitting for the topic. Cheers man keep up the good work.
Thank you buddy. Still a massive fan of the OG
They are also keeping the frenzied flame at bay
And anybody who tries to claim it
Please don't cut your videos for length. You're presentation and thorough explanations are exceptional. Thank you.
Pls don’t worry about making these videos long. In fact pack em with as much info as possible. I love learning the lore of the souls Bourne games and I want all the tangents. Pack in the lore as dense as possible, the longer the better👍
No need to apologize for the length, I think most ppl would prefer it that way. Great work, love your videos.
Hey SmoughTown just want you to know that these videos are amazing and exactly what I have been looking for in regards to Elden Ring lore so thank you!!!
Thank you Philip! I have a great one in the oven for you this weekend
The *Blood*borne music and sound queues are excellent touches
It reads like a secret boss from Bloodborne.
Also I think it’s implied that Varre is the one who killed one of the maidens you can get blood from for the quest item and that one of those maidens were meant for you originally.
Damn! It’s crazy that you accurately called this as the dlc teleporting area 2 years ago!!
Firstly...I really enjoy your videos. You can tell there was real effort that went into them from the video to the comprehensive analysis.
Secondly...51 minutes of well articulated talking then you throw in the "Growing and Shitting"
Bless you friend, I needed that.
Most welcome my friend! Really glad you enjoyed it all. More soon!
I am in love with this games lore. It's so well made and this playlist is so helpful to understand it. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. 🥰🥰
"Maybe he underestimates how much he can controll Miquella for his own goals"
This aged well 🙃
We all owe Mohg an apology.
Just finished both this and your Miquella video, both of them were so well researched and articulated that it really gave me a better appreciation for the lore. Thank you for putting these together!
You can actually find the corpse of a Crow who has succumbed to the tainted blood near the entrance of the blood-lake that’s filled with Albinaurics, it looks like it’s dissolved into the blood lake with really only its head still visible, which is pretty gruesome and it really shows the adverse effects of the tainted blood on the wildlife
insane in depth videos i'm hooked bro keep it up.
Thank you bud. No plans to stop yet
The whole thing between Mohg and Miquella gets creepier when you find out that they are actually half-brothers (sharing the same mother)
Not... Really...
It's a GRRM story and they're all like ancient mythological gods. The whole "related" aspect is no where near as weird as it is in any other concept since they're very unrelatable ..for the most part.
I'm too familiar with human history and mythology by now to have gone through the initial shock value this provided. It's "eh, whatever!" now
I mean... is it much creepier than Radagon/Marika compulating with themselfs?
I don’t usually comment on videos but man I love these longer deep dives. I can’t wait for later content, this video was great for further understanding of the crazy lore in this game and connecting things. Thanks for the awesome content!
Wow thank you so much, this is why I do these deep dives. My next video is in edit and a similar size!
Dude, your lore videos are fantastic! I applaud your dedication to investigate and compile all of this lore into well edited and narrated videos!
I like that Godfrey seems to show affection for Morgott.
