"It feels like a love lost song...." you got it. It was written about Orzabal's wife passing away in 2017 after a protracted period of illness. He was the primary carer when he wrote this song.
I'm a metal head and my first concert was Tears For Fears. I've been a fan since the album "The Hurting". They are great song writers and have still got it.
No suprise there . I am a metalhead and i always had a soft spot for bands or artists like Roxette , Tears For Fears , Duran Duran and Depeshe Mode ( you can also throw Enya in the mix for good measure) . They're not metal just incredibly pleasent to hear . And classy 🙂
Tears for Fears are Legendary ... their music will live forever. I was born in 75 and was 10yrs old when Songs from the Big Chair was released. Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Head over Heels and many others were a part of the soundtrack of my youth.
I can't wait for you to hear more of their music! Definitely check out Shout, Head Over Heels, Mad World, Mother's Talk, and Sowing The Seeds of Love. ENJOY!!
Mad world Memories fade Shout The working hour Head over heels Woman in chains Famous last words That’s just a very small selection for you of some top tff tunes (Even their non hit songs are sublime )
I'm so happy with this reaction Alex! I'm a metal fan and I absolutely love Tears for Fears, this new record was so long waited. The guys always gave me that feeling and have unique songs. Please check more then, you will see that Roland is an amazing composer. ❤️❤️
I didn’t even know they had new music out. Tears For Fears is an entire mood by itself, their music always sets an atmosphere. I used to love them when I was a kid. Listening to this for the first time with you was awesome. Now I want to go back and listen to the old stuff again, and check out the new stuff! Okay so suggestions for what you might like from them…I’d recommend “Mother’s Talk” and “Break It Down Again.” Both are powerful songs musically and lyrically. There are a lot of others I love but those two seem like they’d be up your alley. Thanks for bringing them back into my life!
"mad world" ( yes , they wrote it !!!) , "pale shelter" , "change" , "shout" , "the working hour" , "head over heels" , "woman in chains" & "sowing the seeds of love" are all masterpieces !!!
best tff songs - Mad world, head over heels, woman in chains, seeds of love, shout (those are only the BIG hits from them)....the list of classic songs from them goes on and on and on. So glad youre going to jump on the tears for fears train, it'll be worth it!
You got to check out their debut album "The hurting". An absolute masterpiece. Every song on that LP is a 10/10. Even almost 40 years later it STILL sounds ahead of its time - ahead of OUR time, for that matter.
And they were only early 20s when creating it. Now 60. I think only beatles exceeds in being so all round good in terms of lyrics , harmony, arrangement and yet, simplicity.
Welcome to the "enlightened" people who know how awesome TFT has been and remains. I have followed them for 40 (FORTY!) years...and I look forward to their concert in Philadelphia (I have tix of course) in June.
Ran into them back in 1985 while they were on tour. My family and I happened to be staying at the same hotel. Very nice friendly guys. As a 19 year old at the time I was a little awestruck.
I'm insanely jealous that you still have the entire Tears For Fears catalogue still to discover. I've been a fan since day one! Recommendations - "Head Over Heels, The Working Hour, Advice for the Young At Heart" - I could go on...
There’s so many: Sowing the seeds of love Everyone loves a happy ending Woman in chains Shout But deeper cuts are: Start of the breakdown Memories fade In fact their first album ‘The Hurting’ got me through my early teenage years
Roland Orzabal - my fav songwriter and incredible vocalist and poet. When you're digging into their past, DO NOT MISS the album Tomcats Screaming Outside and the song Humdrum and Humble. Aside from Tipping Point, I can't ever get his music out of my head!!

6:34 That nails it *exactly*. What I loved about the video the first time I saw it is that they're clearly OK with aging. They're both 60 now, they're not trying to pretend otherwise, and they still look great anyway. Solid song, too. There was a best of released in, I think, 2004 that you may still be able to find; if you like that, then the first three albums from the 80s are the ones to get.
Tears for Fears is the embodiment of the old saying that a great song is a great song regardless of genre. I don't love pop music, but I love Tears for Fears.
Just listened to it before watching your video for the first time and this song feels like something Tear for Fears would have released in the 80's. They still freaking got it their version of Mad World amazing one my personal favorites is Shout. 2022 is going to be a good year for music so far. Tears for Fears releasing a new album in 2022 so is Stabbing Westward.
You gotta check out " woman in chains" If you like that memorizing haunting feeling you'll love it. Heck the entire "Seeds of Love " album is a musical masterpiece.
You picked up on the message of loss. Roland Orzabal’s (long hair w/beard) wife developed alcohol related dementia. He spent the next five years as her care-taker, she passed away in 2017.
Just before watching your reaction to The Tipping Point I watched some guy react to their new song ‘No Small Thing’ and I actually wrote that it was a ‘holy shit’ song. Trent Raznor of Nine Inch Nails said in an interview that Tears for Fears was one of his biggest influences along side with David Bowie for NINs first album. Sure NIN is not your typical metal, but they have a lot Industrial Metal stuff going on.
"Fish Out of Water" or "Elemental" for some buried jewels of theirs. Their first three records are masterpieces, but Elemental is so so underrated, give it a listen.
I'm glad they made this album.... this song is so mezmorizing....do Woman in Chains from their Seeds of Love album or Badman's song.... you won't be disappointed
Smart Pop sits always right with Metal Fans. Awesome sounds on this new one, not one of their greatest hooks, but there have been way lesser comebacks. Love me some Tears for fears. Recommend doing a double reaction of the song "Shout" and the cover version by Disturbed.
Love Tears for Fears...one of my favorite bands. Roland Orzabal, the lead singer, went through depression after loosing his wife a few years ago and the song is about that. One of my fave songs by them is "Sowing the seeds of Love". Looking forward to their new album! Duran Duran is another 80s band that seems to have a lot of metal fans. "Ordinary World" and "The Chauffeur" have been covered by several metal bands.
You HAVE to check out Watch Me Bleed!! It’s on the album The Hurting. It has always been my favorite and it’s an amazing song production wise and incredibly creative in both instruments and lyrics. They are amazing lyricists. I can’t get enough of this song and many others by them. The Hurting album in general is amazing! Highly recommend you giving the whole album a listen in your own time
Metal head from back the 80s , and still a big Tears For Fears fan. They were always progressive ( think Peter Gabriel). That's why they have such good credibility.

Radio 2 (a popular radio station in the UK) had their Piano Month throughout February, and Tears for Fears were on one of the days. They performed Mad World, but the cover version and not their own (essentially performing their cover of a cover of their song). It was pretty awesome!
I'd love to see you reacting to "Mad world". You probably already know that the original wasn't as popular as Gary Jules' cover. But i personally LOVE the original by Tears for Fears. It's one of my favorite songs ever!
Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down), Change, Pale Shelter, The Working Hour, The Way You Are, Mad World, Badman's Song, just few of the best of the best songs from them.
Since you like 'The Tipping Point', I suggest reacting to their next new single, 'No Small Thing.' It's epic in a different way. If you can watch the official video without it being blocked, that is the most impactful way to experience that song.
Hears this song and played it twice upon hearing it. Showed it to my cousin and she listened to it like 3 times in one night. It's very captivating, just like all their other songs. One of those bands you can explain but def have to hear. Love it.
I saw Tears for Fears in 1985 in Louisiana. I am now bringing my 22 year old daughter and 16 year old son to see them. Honestly, this is their best music!
Glad you've discovered TFF! They are amazing. If you're interested in some of their older works, try The Working Hour, Woman In Chains, Head Over Heels, Badman's Song. There are so many more!
I can't with the "Old Gregg" clips. Seriously, as soon as I get that shit out of my head you throw it up in a new reaction and it's in my head again. DAMN YOU ALEX! 😂
You've got to check out/react to "Mad World". Not the Simon & Garfunkel one-- that one was a cover. The Tears for Fears (original) one. This is one of the most underrated songs by them; somehow, it's the most popular, yet least popular, song by them at the same time-- the least popular most popular, if that makes sense.
I was lucky to have seen Tears for Fears a few years ago.I was a fan of the album The Hurting, when I was young in the eighties.I didn't care for Songs From The Big Chair much.Roland's voice is incredible. This is the first time I have heard this song, and it totally blew me away,so much so,I had to watch the video, and hear the song again. The reaction to it was a bit like mine.......Mind blowing, and hypnotic!👍👍👏👏
Written by Roland after the death of his wife. It is INCREDIBLE and the drumming - WOW WOW WOW!!!! Check out the live version (Tears for Fears - The Tipping Point [LIVE @ SiriusXM] on the Tube. I must have had 50-60 youtube plays already. I need to find the live version to download. The Boys are BACK!!!!!
Great reaction video! Love it. This entire new album is incredible. You should hear the Atmos mix that Steven Wilson did for it. Incredible surround sound work once again by the King of spatial music.
You know it’s an amazing work of art music when songwriter musician sonic wizard Steven Wilson wants to be a part of it .. Steven was entrusted to the remixing of their first 3 iconic albums He has said he considers their fabulous Sowing the Seeds of Love album to be one of the most sonically beautiful albums of all time Speaking of Steven Wilson Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson/Blackfield … is another staggering rabbit hole to fall down . Just saying.. you’ll thank me later ❤
Hey Alex, huge Tears For Fears fan over here. Cool that you're bringing their music to your channel. I recommend that you react to: - "Woman in Chains" - "Sowing the Seeds of Love" - "Badman's Song" and "Year of the Knife" (the "Going to California" LIVE versions) - "Swords and Knives" - "Famous Last Words" - "The Working Hour" (listening to Roland sing "find out, find out what this feeling's about" at the top of his lungs is pure art) - "Mother's Talk" - "Head over Heels/Broken" - "Mr. Pessimist" - "Elemental" - "Fish Out of Water" - "Dog's a best friend's dog" - "Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down)" - "Sorry" - "Secrets" - "Don't Drink the Water" - "Me and my Big Ideas" - "Last Days on Earth" - "Quiet Ones" - "Secret World" - "Mad World" Enjoy!
Most casual Tears for Fears fans don't realize they were the original artists who wrote Mad World, one of my favorite songs along with Shout
I personally love the original! What a great song!!
I though it was Jules who wrote it, thanks for the info!! I love Tears for Fears even more now!
Wait, people don't know that? I've known that for years. Though honestly I feel like the slower cover works better for it.
@@balgus82 It was a great new take on a great original.
Loving Timmy Trumpets remix/sampling too
You know 2021 is messed up, when Tears for Fears had to come back to try and balance us again... Like they did in the 80s.
I think their mode op “primal scream therapy” needs to be much more looked into. They’re definitely on the emotional mark!
Truer words have never bee spoken.
"It feels like a love lost song...." you got it. It was written about Orzabal's wife passing away in 2017 after a protracted period of illness. He was the primary carer when he wrote this song.

Nothing beats these 80s bands. Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode amazing stuff

Those are my perfect trifecta of 80s bands but these 3 bands have truly transcended all of that
Duran Duran had talent too. The Taylors killed it in Power Station.
They STILL got it! You can tell from the sound that it is Tears For Fears. They didn't try change, but they did modernize it.
Tears for Fears are Legendary ... their music will live forever. I was born in 75 and was 10yrs old when Songs from the Big Chair was released. Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Head over Heels and many others were a part of the soundtrack of my youth.

Steven was entrusted to the remixing of their first 3 iconic albums
He has said he considers their fabulous Sowing the Seeds of Love album to be one of the most sonically beautiful albums of all time
Speaking of Steven Wilson
Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson/Blackfield … is another staggering rabbit hole to fall down . Just saying.. you’ll thank me later ❤
