I feel like ai makes your game scream “THIS WAS JUST MADE TO EARN A QUICK BUCK” because if you can’t spend any recourses on a thumbnail artist or make it yourself, it makes your game look lazy asf. And not tk mention half the ai stuff is complete slop.
You can say that about almost every popular game on the platform that doesnt have anything to do with AI, with or without AI there's still games like that, there have been for a long time even before AI started to become a more common tool

You can immediately tell if a ROBLOX game is bad just by looking at the AI thumbnail or icon. It is also false advertising in a way as the image itself doesn’t properly represent the game it is advertising in terms of assets and locations in-game. It’s even worse when they use AI for textures for UGC items. Anyone who uses AI thumbnails deserve no recognition.

It's starting to get really annoying browsing through the Discover page and seeing so many AI-generated icons/thumbnails that tell me little to nothing about the game itself. On the bright side, atleast it helps filter the lazy from the good, like how "OBBY OBBY OBBY OBBY" title spams of yesteryear were a good indicator that the game was probably gonna suck.
On another note, at some point, AI just completely decimated the UGC catalog for me. There's one creator who AI-generates ugly patterns (think a carpet design), slaps them on premade hat/shirt/pant meshes, charges robux for them, and calls it a day. Thankfully they seem to have stopped in recent times, since I'm able to see actually good UGC made by skilled creators in Recently Created instead of AI slop lol
yeah it's really easy to tell when a game is worth your time just by looking at the thumbnail, i do agree though it is a really good filter to find ACTUAL good games on roblox!

Honestly this is so underrated. The fact the quality of this is actually really good. Im a game dev rn working on an unfinished game and whenever i look at the front page for thumbnail ideas this doesnt help me at all.

Thank you for bringing this up. Any game that has AI in their thumbnail immediately goes on my 'never play' list. I refuse to touch any games with AI thumbnails, even if I've played them in the past. Once they get to that point, I stop playing. Period.

AI will ruin anything that involves human creativity and hard / passionate work, dont know why anyone thinks thats a good thing except people who are too lazy to make something good.
AI should at most be used as a tool. Not something to do things for you, but as a small helping hand. Tools can help you do things, but you need to learn how to use them properly. Use something like AI too much, and you’re just making something else do the work for you. I can’t come up with a name for my game? Hey, chatgpt, take a look at the concept of my game and give it a name - I’ll see which one works and if I need to edit it. THAT is what AI should be used for when it comes to being a tool.
i havent been on roblox in so long, i had no idea they took away the ads for games and groups and whatnot. im so glad i stopped playing when i did. the people making decisions for the platform dont give an iota of a shit about anything other than whatever makes more money

AI Icon is like the first check on "is this a scam" meter. Only game I saw that wasnt a scam and had AI icon was Retail Tycoon 2 but even them changed to normal icon

I'm looking to make my first game based off of Entry Point and Hellmet, and I have vowed to NEVER EVER use AI no matter what. It just doesn't fit me and I don't feel like it gives me the proper ideas. The difference is when you plan a game with AI, it feels a bit boring because it's a machine coming up with the prompt and not you, but when YOU are the planner yourself, the lead man, the REAL developer, it feels much more soulful. You know what you want and what you are DOING with your game, and you don't need a computer to do so. Sure, sure, AI can be helpful in programming but people just don't use it for the proper purpose and they usually end up becoming extremely boring games. Also, just as a reminder, I'm 13 years old and my previous Roblox game ideas were heavily influenced by AI but the game that I'm planning will not be based off of AI at all... only if the game releases. I don't have any developers yet and I still have to plan out the storyline as it is quite a fresh plan and is about 1-2 days old as this comment is published, but I'm still determined to complete it and do it without AI, completely all about inspiration, dedication, and hard work. After all, as 'a wise man once said', success doesn't come without failure. Everybody fails once.
roblox put a category of "best ugc creator in his awards" when there is so much hate about all the ugc system right now, and it makes it look like they simply dont care to fix it and dont see it like a problem at all.

It's like buggy and sloppy games made for a cheap buck, these types of devs getting help from AI. It's like two bad things assembling into one. It sucks. It really does. I'm very sure there are good horror games, they're just diamonds in the rough, mixed in with the sloppy horror games. There's only one situation where I can accept AI covers of games and it's when the Dev/s do not have a money to pay off an artist that will do the cover for them and they themselves aren't skilled enough to make that cover. I fear finding people that will do it for free is almost impossible.

As a game developer who DOES use AI, it is because it’s simply insane how easy it is to use. I only use AI for scripting and game thumbnails bc I can’t draw well, and my coding experience isn’t exactly that good.
I went on a school end of the year trip that lasted the entire day and we got a shirt for it and the art was AI GENERATED 😭😭😭 and the thing is we had a mural at the school and it was like spray painted on like bruh what is my school doing

that's very valid, developers and artists can be pretty shady sometimes so it can be hard to find artists so i understand in that regard but majority of people use it because they're just lazy
something I'd like to comment on as an artist of five years, ai art is not art. These ai generated images will not become art until the robots who make them become fully sentient and have the capability to be creative and think for themselves. the people who write the prompts aren't artists either, because they aren't the ones making the images and putting devotion into learning a useful skill

What this comment is missing is the hundreds of art peices that are primarily ai and technology based, the robot who cleans up its own leaks for example, it's being done by a robot, but due to what it is, is it not considered art? And if not, I ask, what does art mean? It's such a broad range that you can't give an answer without eliminating any "normal" artists.

I was quite literally working on art while watching this and honestly as an artists if I game I play on Roblox starts using AI art I stop playing because it's just so frustrating to see
as someone who haas manually made my thumbnails (although only for obbies in obby creator) just seeing all this AI art makes me feel demotivated and like the time i put into the stuff i make for my builds seem _meaningless_ and _worthless._ :(
At first, people used ai as inspiration to formulate art, perhaps through finding a design and editing or formulating it into something new, but now, all you gotta do is type in five words and u got a perfect icon for your game. Clothing is going thorugh a very similar problem, I design clothing, and almost can't be bothered when AI literally steals designs from small brands.
Ive had enough of seeing ai everywhere and I honestly cant stand it. Everywhere I look is this shit and some of it has been not just art theft in the sense of using art to train the ai, but literally blatantly copying real artists thumbnails. I dont care if youre not good at drawing; most artist communities and people will be supportive on your journey as you develop your skills, you will never know the joy of having weeks of hard work come out to make something youre proud of, and never know what its like to look back at your old pieces and think, "Wow, Ive improved so much!" All of the prota family's games have AI thumbnails. Me and my cousin replaced the important parts of Prota simulator's description and replaced the words with "AI-generated copied thumbnails" or "ChatGPT Descriptions". We had a good laugh.

I started playing Roblox in 2016 when I was 10 years old, primarily because I watched TH-camrs like Denis play it, who I used to look up to at the time. The platform has really become a shadow of its former self, it lost its charm and uniqueness in the strive for simplicity and a wider appeal. Builders Club has been replaced by Premium, the unique LEGO brick theme has been replaced with a semi-realistic art style, and the avatars are now primarily realistic human characters. Roblox's main goal has shifted from just being a simple platform that allows kids to create games, to a mega corporation that aims to make as much money as it possibly can. Disney, DreamWorks, McDonald's, Epic Games and Burger King all did the same thing, sacrificing quality for a higher profit. The implementation of AI is only a small part of the problem, but it gets the most attention because of how big and important it has gotten worldwide. It is such a shame, and it's only going to keep happening as mega corporations continue to expand and consumers continue to spend money on their products.
as a 3d modeler, i think even generating textures is taking it too far, tbh! texturing is an incredibly important & challenging skill, & is essential to the process of making a 3d model. i model, unwrap, rig, & texture each model i make & i think all of these steps are important skills! it's just a shame to see a platform meant for creativity throw its orginal goal away so quickly....
@@JirenThegreylien there's a difference between copy & pasting textures and generating them i reuse the same textures over and over through a bunch of projects, i'm mostly talking about using generating all of your textures rather than drawing at least some of them--personally i just prefer to do everything by hand (i know not everybody likes to, though, & that's fair)
It's not the AI ruining the game, it's roblox itself not looking over what people make + developers being lazy and making every game a casino for children.
Roblox is a slop game, so nobody really cares. People use it to make money. The less effort they put in and the more money they get out, the better. Sad, but true. Roblox used to just be about fun, but it's not like that anymore, the further back you go, the less corporate it is, etc.
Yep, only reason I still play it is because of some few games, made mostly by passion than greed, and with effort put into it, although such games are becoming rare, they are still enjoyable.

It's starting to get really annoying browsing through the Discover page and seeing so many AI-generated icons/thumbnails that tell me little to nothing about the game itself. On the bright side, atleast it helps filter the lazy from the good, like how "OBBY OBBY OBBY OBBY" title spams of yesteryear were a good indicator that the game was probably gonna suck.
On another note, at some point, AI just completely decimated the UGC catalog for me. There's one creator who AI-generates ugly patterns (think a carpet design), slaps them on premade hat/shirt/pant meshes, charges robux for them, and calls it a day. Thankfully they seem to have stopped in recent times, since I'm able to see actually good UGC made by skilled creators in Recently Created instead of AI slop lol
yeah it's really easy to tell when a game is worth your time just by looking at the thumbnail, i do agree though it is a really good filter to find ACTUAL good games on roblox!

AI should at most be used as a tool. Not something to do things for you, but as a small helping hand. Tools can help you do things, but you need to learn how to use them properly. Use something like AI too much, and you’re just making something else do the work for you. I can’t come up with a name for my game? Hey, chatgpt, take a look at the concept of my game and give it a name - I’ll see which one works and if I need to edit it. THAT is what AI should be used for when it comes to being a tool.

I'm looking to make my first game based off of Entry Point and Hellmet, and I have vowed to NEVER EVER use AI no matter what. It just doesn't fit me and I don't feel like it gives me the proper ideas. The difference is when you plan a game with AI, it feels a bit boring because it's a machine coming up with the prompt and not you, but when YOU are the planner yourself, the lead man, the REAL developer, it feels much more soulful. You know what you want and what you are DOING with your game, and you don't need a computer to do so. Sure, sure, AI can be helpful in programming but people just don't use it for the proper purpose and they usually end up becoming extremely boring games.
Also, just as a reminder, I'm 13 years old and my previous Roblox game ideas were heavily influenced by AI but the game that I'm planning will not be based off of AI at all... only if the game releases. I don't have any developers yet and I still have to plan out the storyline as it is quite a fresh plan and is about 1-2 days old as this comment is published, but I'm still determined to complete it and do it without AI, completely all about inspiration, dedication, and hard work. After all, as 'a wise man once said', success doesn't come without failure. Everybody fails once.

There's only one situation where I can accept AI covers of games and it's when the Dev/s do not have a money to pay off an artist that will do the cover for them and they themselves aren't skilled enough to make that cover. I fear finding people that will do it for free is almost impossible.

What this comment is missing is the hundreds of art peices that are primarily ai and technology based, the robot who cleans up its own leaks for example, it's being done by a robot, but due to what it is, is it not considered art?

At first, people used ai as inspiration to formulate art, perhaps through finding a design and editing or formulating it into something new, but now, all you gotta do is type in five words and u got a perfect icon for your game. Clothing is going thorugh a very similar problem, I design clothing, and almost can't be bothered when AI literally steals designs from small brands.

Ive had enough of seeing ai everywhere and I honestly cant stand it. Everywhere I look is this shit and some of it has been not just art theft in the sense of using art to train the ai, but literally blatantly copying real artists thumbnails.
I dont care if youre not good at drawing; most artist communities and people will be supportive on your journey as you develop your skills, you will never know the joy of having weeks of hard work come out to make something youre proud of, and never know what its like to look back at your old pieces and think, "Wow, Ive improved so much!"

All of the prota family's games have AI thumbnails. Me and my cousin replaced the important parts of Prota simulator's description and replaced the words with "AI-generated copied thumbnails" or "ChatGPT Descriptions". We had a good laugh.

I started playing Roblox in 2016 when I was 10 years old, primarily because I watched TH-camrs like Denis play it, who I used to look up to at the time. The platform has really become a shadow of its former self, it lost its charm and uniqueness in the strive for simplicity and a wider appeal. Builders Club has been replaced by Premium, the unique LEGO brick theme has been replaced with a semi-realistic art style, and the avatars are now primarily realistic human characters. Roblox's main goal has shifted from just being a simple platform that allows kids to create games, to a mega corporation that aims to make as much money as it possibly can. Disney, DreamWorks, McDonald's, Epic Games and Burger King all did the same thing, sacrificing quality for a higher profit. The implementation of AI is only a small part of the problem, but it gets the most attention because of how big and important it has gotten worldwide. as a 3d modeler, i think even generating textures is taking it too far, tbh! texturing is an incredibly important & challenging skill, & is essential to the process of making a 3d model. i model, unwrap, rig, & texture each model i make & i think all of these steps are important skills! it's just a shame to see a platform meant for creativity throw its orginal goal away so quickly....

i reuse the same textures over and over through a bunch of projects, i'm mostly talking about using generating all of your textures rather than drawing at least some of them--personally i just prefer to do everything by hand (i know not everybody likes to, though, & that's fair)

The less effort they put in and the more money they get out, the better. Sad, but true.

Yep, only reason I still play it is because of some few games, made mostly by passion than greed, and with effort put into it, although such games are becoming rare, they are still enjoyable.

I’m sick of seeing ai generated stuff all over Roblox, especially considering that, for some reason, nowadays brainrot and ai have merged together to form an abomination of thumbnails and games (like gyatt simulator…)
Anyway I think that the video is pretty good! Even tho I don’t play too much games on Roblox (I stick with the same 4 usually), I sometimes still play other stuff, that being to joke around with a friend or to be a menace, and I am sick of seeing “RACE SKIBIDI SIMULATOR (10x LUCKY)” with the most random ai thumbnail possible
