Thank you for sharing this. I needed it. I’m a strong believer, but lately I feel like I’ve been off. Just realized, I’ve been living, double minded, and Ben, making exceptions in my faith that I should not have been. Thank you!
If you haven't already, can you cover the topic of God blessing everyone, Christian or not and that shows His character, patience , kindness and faithfulness to be our Provider. This refutes the prosperity gospel. Some scripture references are in Ecclesiastics.
1 Kings 18:21 does also discuss this concept of being double minded. It is the story of Elijah and Baal's prophets on Mt Caramel. But, then again the Old Testament wasn't written in Greek but rather Hebrew with some Aramaic for some small parts of it.
Question…. Does someone who struggle with personality disorders and anxiety and depression an example of this text? Because although I’ve struggled with this since childhood. My allegiance is towards Christ. I know my identity with Christ. I have no doubt in mind with that but I’ve struggled with mental health for as far as I’ve known. My mental illnesses i do not identify as the truth of who I am. Idk. I’ve thought the text is who your allegiance is towards. Between the world and Christ..
Then what about the Soldier who asks Jesus to help his unbelief, or doubts? Some things in Scripture are uncertain to us because it often transcends our understanding. The Bible is not a book expecting that we don’t ask questions. Cults expect no questions should be asked. We are incredibly weak in mind compared to God
When a person accepts a religious doctrine without "an investigation" (see Acts 17:11), they are are like "a double-minded man, unstable in all he does", or as a modern English Bible reads at James 1:6-8: "But let him keep asking in faith, not doubting at all, for the one who doubts ("doubts", Greek diakrino, meaning "3. to be at variance with one's self, hesitate, doubt") is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and blown about." "In fact, that man should not expect to receive anything from Jehovah (God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV); he is an indecisive ("indecisive", Greek dipsuchos, meaning "two-spirited, wavering, uncertain, doubting", and found only twice in the Bible, at James 1:8 and 4:8) man, unsteady in all his ways."(New World Translation) For example, does the Bible teach "the Holy Trinity", that Christendom teaches as "fact" ? When a serious "investigation" is made so that a sincere Bible reader can allay their doubts, the simple answer is no. What about "hell" ? Or the immortality of the soul ? Or purgatory ? Or the cross ? Or Christmas ? Or Easter ? Or birthdays ? Again, the simple answer is no. Of "the Holy Trinity", see John 6:57; 7:16, 17; 8:28, 29; 14:1, 28; 17:3; 20:17 (KJV). Of immortality of the soul, see Genesis 2:7; Deuteronomy 12:20; Leviticus 23:30; Jeremiah 2:34; Acts 3:23; James 5:20 (KJV). Of "hell", see Jonah 2:2; Ps 16:19; Acts 2:31; Jer 32:35; Matthew 10:28; Rev 20:13 (KJV). Of the cross, see Deuteronomy 21:22, 23; Gal 3:13 (KJV). Of purgatory, see Ps 115:17; Ecclesiastes 9:5 (KJV). Of Christmas, see Ecclesiastes 7:1; Luke 2:8; 22:19, 20 (KJV). Of Easter, see 1 Cor 11:23-26 (KJV). Of birthdays, see Gen 40:20-22; Ecclesiastes 7:1; Matthew 14:1-10 (KJV). Only when a person has an ACCURATE understanding of the Bible and applies it, can they remove doubts, and no longer be "indecisive", for "that man should not expect to receive anything from Jehovah". Otherwise, they are like what the apostle Paul wrote at 1 Timothy 4: "The inspired word clearly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith (or abandon Jehovah God, becoming apostates), paying attention to misleading inspired statements and teachings of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, whose conscience is seared as with a branding iron." "They (Catholicism) forbid marriage (requiring men as priests to be celibate, though God does not do so, see 1 Cor 7:9) and command people to abstain from foods (such as at one time eating meat on Friday, committing a mortal sin, being punished in hellfire, see Mark 7:19 where Jesus "declared all foods clean"; 1 Cor 10:25-27) that God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith and accurately know the truth."(1 Tim 4:1-3) So James wrote at James 1:5, for those who are "indecisive", that "if any one of you is lacking in wisdom, let him keep asking God, for he gives generously to all and without reproaching, and it will be given him", as Jesus said at Luke 11: "I say to you, keep on asking, and it will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone asking (with humility) receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking, it will be opened." "Indeed, which father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent instead of a fish ? Or if he also asks for an egg, will hand him a scorpion ? Therefore, if you, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit (and wisdom so as to know what "the truth" is) to those asking him !”(Luke 11:9-13)
This hit hard but I’m this in all my ways because of a personality issue. Please pray for my salvation and end of double mindedness.
Same here. 🙏🙏
Study the text I do not believe it is towards people struggling with mental illness but one whom is struggling to trust God in almost all their ways.
This was hard to listen to. But I needed it.
Providentially, this is wonderful
Does this mean that the person is not saved (genuine question)?

Righteous and wretched, you must be born again.

Maybe I know the answer or maybe I dont know.

Alot of people are in denial.
Jesus said we have to be in denial and take up your cross. So what do you mean by that?
Then what about the Soldier who asks Jesus to help his unbelief, or doubts? Some things in Scripture are uncertain to us because it often transcends our understanding. For example, does the Bible teach "the Holy Trinity", that Christendom teaches as "fact" ? Only when a person has an ACCURATE understanding of the Bible and applies it, can they remove doubts, and no longer be "indecisive", for "that man should not expect to receive anything from Jehovah". Otherwise, they are like what the apostle Paul wrote at 1 Timothy 4:
"The inspired word clearly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith (or abandon Jehovah God, becoming apostates), paying attention to misleading inspired statements and teachings of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, whose conscience is seared as with a branding iron."
"They (Catholicism) forbid marriage (requiring men as priests to be celibate, though God does not do so, see 1 Cor 7:9) and command people to abstain from foods (such as at one time eating meat on Friday, committing a mortal sin, being punished in hellfire, see Mark 7:19 where Jesus "declared all foods clean"; 1 Cor 10:25-27) that God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith and accurately know the truth."(1 Tim 4:1-3)
So James wrote at James 1:5, for those who are "indecisive", that "if any one of you is lacking in wisdom, let him keep asking God, for he gives generously to all and without reproaching, and it will be given him", as Jesus said at Luke 11:
"I say to you, keep on asking, and it will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone asking (with humility) receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking, it will be opened."
"Indeed, which father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent instead of a fish ? Or if he also asks for an egg, will hand him a scorpion ? Therefore, if you, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit (and wisdom so as to know what "the truth" is) to those asking him !”(Luke 11:9-13)
