Uncomplicated & brilliant footwork makes Joe Root world class legend, who is the only man who could well beat Sachin's record runs scored.
Joe Root averaging 1000 runs per year in his 12 years in test cricket up to his 34th birthday in a few months. If he keeps that up - let's say he only goes to age 38 instead of Sachin's over 40 and keeps that rate up - he'll get to just over 16300, eclipsing Sachin's 15900. He'll unlikely* to overtake Sachin's 51 test centuries but can could well do the total runs (* he's only accumulated 3 centuries per year so far - but he has massively accelerated the rate in the last few years to 5 per year since the beginning of 2021. If he keeps that up for the next 4 years, he can overtake Sachin on that count, too....)

I wish he'd never bought into the bazball thing, and had just been told to bat normally, and be the glue that he's always been, letting the others throw their bats at the ball.
I reckon he'd be around 40 or more hundreds by now, with an average around 55+, where it belongs.
Maybe even a couple more double hundreds.
