With the Alpinestars Tech Aero Backpack, motorcyclists will get a rider-specific option that will work well to provide a bit more carrying capacity for wherever the road takes them. From YKK auto locking zippers, to a sternum map panel holder, and internal laptop sleeve, to the built in rain cover should the ride become wet, this is a feature-rich motorcycle backpack. It even has a sleeve for a Bio Armor Back Insert should you look to add a bit of protection.

Love this backpack. Never leave home without it. It has so many hidden compartments that can hold all your needs. The hydration opening is nice too, use it daily.
Alright this is a huge video for me. I've been using my Tech Aero for 3 years now. It's got over 40 thousand miles on it and it's used around 320 days a year. I'm not digging the new style of the bag. It looks less aggressive and somehow cheaper looking. Also I'm sad they have removed the front/chest compartment. I use that for my work ID EVERYDAY. I like that they added a hydration pack and can see myself using it for weekend trips. Honestly if possible, I'll probably buy the older pack seeing how it's held up so well over the years.
ThaMetalMan the same with me, my old one still is in perfect condition, but I may buy a spare one just in case something happens to the old bag
ThaMetalMan Has the older backpack got hard plastic on the front like it looks like it? Compared to just fabric like the new one? Because if so that would help in a crash to slide instead of dig in and make you tumble and do more damage also.

What's your experience with the zippers? There are many negative comments about them, many broke after a while.

This bag looks great and my only concern is that I have the astar gp pro leather jacket with the race hump will this work and will it be comfortable with my current jacket
limit less Jackets with race humps aren't ideal for backpacks. However, I find it's ok if you loosen the shoulder straps a bit and wear the pack lower on your back. Plus, if you ride in a 3/4 or tuck position, it's nice to have the pack lower. -DrewZilla

Does this have a good spot for a second helmet lens? Kind of like the Ogio Mach 5?
There is no dedicated spot for a spare shield, but you can fit one at the top of the main compartment. -DrewZilla

It really depends what features you prefer. The Mach 5 is ideal if you do a lot of highway riding in a tuck. The Tech Aero is better if you really value an integrated helmet carrier and rain cover. -DrewZilla

The zippers are smoother, the rain cover deploys from the bottom, there's better padding, and the straps are easier to use. -DrewZilla

Does this have lockable zippers? In other words can you fit a lock through the metal part of the zippers?
+TotesMagotes No, the Tech Aero doesn't have locking zippers, nor do we currently have any backpacks with that feature. The Tech Aero's "auto-locking" zippers just keep the zippers from opening when riding. -DrewZilla

it says on Alpinestars website that you can put the helmet inside it. Show it .?
Helmets don't fit totally inside the backpack. Instead, a helmet carrier pouch/sling holds a helmet on the outside of the backpack. See the images linked below. -DrewZilla

which is better? This one or the Kriega R15/R20? Currently have the old version and I like how easy it is to put on since theres a clip on one side of the strap.
mksteezsofresh It depends on which features are most important for you. The Kriega's Quadloc harness system makes the pack easier to put on and allows greater range of motion. The Alpinestars Tech Aero is almost as easy to put on and has a helmet carrier and rain cover included. -DrewZilla

Steve J You can't fit a full-face helmet inside the bag, but there's a helmet carrier that unfurls from the bag to hold a helmet on the outside of the pack. -DrewZilla

Will this hold my MX helmet also?
+everymonth1 Yes, the helmet carrier has enough stretch to hold most dirt helmets. You may need to play around with how you orient the helmet in the carrier to get an optimal fit. -DrewZilla
