Well this was also the last time they used the physical model. After this movie they went straight to using a cgi model. This was the model's first and only movie along with being the last time they used physical models for any star trek production.
You would think that the Borg would have trouble functioning without air. Even if they don't breathe somehow, the flesh would freeze in the vacuum and they wouldn't be able to move for long.
Perhaps "for long" is the key. Maybe they could survive long enough to do what they needed, then get back inside. Or if they died after they were done, so what? Still, the trio would have been wise to call helm control and have them turn the ship so sun would be bearing down directly on them.

I wish they'd have brought Hawk at the end. He could have been back at the helm at the end, but with those bandage patches like Picard had on his face at the end of BoBW II.

I wish they had made more Star Trek movies with the Next Gen crew, before Patrick got old man voice. I cant watch the Picard show because now he just whispers and it makes me sad. Anyway, these films with the Next Gen crew were so much better than any of the J J films.

Worf tying off the leak with a severed Borg arm is still one of the best moments in the whole movie.

They had to scale down the deflector set because the sound stage wasn't big enough for a full-sized version.
