It doesn't add any power, it allows you to settle into a rhythm and clear your mind for the final shot. These competitions require two full spins before the throw. There are many other styles, look for the figure-8 and Greek styles
@@davidmorningstar ok. I’ve just never done and always gone straight into the throw because that’s the technique used by the first video I watched on slinging.
@@davidmorningstar thanks a lot. i read that there are 45 and even 90 paces distances for competition but haven t found any video footage of those long distance (could you kindly point me to any if you happen to know where i could find those). Also i would like to take advantage to inquire about the usual length (from loop to middle pouch) of the slings used for the 30 paces competition?
Length of sling is down to individual preference but is typically arm length. Long slings are used for throwing beyond 100 metres, I have a recent video about that.
just watched lindybeige's video on slings, got this recommended right after.
Me too!
Goliath didn't even see it coming!
So I've been looking at these videos and I'm hoping to make my first sling this week.
That was great!
It flew so flat, I don't think it even started to drop before it hit the target
Wow great shot!
Didn't think you could get that kinda range and precision with a sling, very nice.
Range is not a problem for a sling, look at my video 'Silvio slinging for distance'
In warfare slings could be used to engage at 400 meters
@@lars7747 Yep.
NICE shot!!
strike did you see that fastball ladies and gentlemen
impressive stuff

Nice that’s pretty impressive

I'm Brazilian and a fan of this Balearic weapon
It’s more ancient not just balearic
This is on the Balearic island of Mallorca, the sling itself is prehistoric and worldwide.
I have a question. Dose the swinging it round and round add any power to the final throw? If so, how? If not, then why do it?

I don't know why I'm watching this on 2x speed.
Great!
That's how it's done.
how many meters or paces to target?
30 paces, where 1 pace = 65cm, so 19.5 metres. We generally say 20 metres to make it easy.

Longer distance competitions are rare because very few people can score that far away.

Awesome shot but the slow motion was almost too much anticipation to bear!
Blessings.
