In this we go on the journey for mutations and its struggles.
I have a plan to be a sea fearing Pteranadon, growing a family living from turtles and prey crossing the South Beach waters and sand.
So my mutations choices are,
Accelerated Prey drive - Giving us 10% damage to those with low health.
Nutrients decay is slowed - so I don't have to source perfect diet as regularly
The ability to drink salt water
and for the 4th I'm not sure yet. maybe the nesting one.
didn't get to the point where I was able to live out the plan,
but next video ill skip recording the growth and start at the point where im living on the beach, and hopefully nest.
In this video we kinda just live off A.I and baby Raptors, reminding babu's to have fear of the skies.
The A.I spawn seems different too, so I have found new ways for perfect diet in early game.

First thing first, I really enjoy your videos, so much so that Ptera is becoming my favorite dino, it's chill and you can be annoying to the people who crossed you.
About that frog at 8:25 , please tell me it was a lucky shot cause I don't know how you saw it.
I should ask what are usually your favorite mutations for Ptera. I tend to go for Congenital Hypoalgesia (less incoming damage from bigger dinos), Reinforced Tendons (10% less stamina cost when jumping) and Accelerated Prey Drive (more dmg to low health target). But I'm thinking about going for Multichambered Lungs (Reduce stamina regeneration threshold) instead of the Prey Drive. And you can unlock a fourth one?
Last but not least, how does one rip a corpse open to get to the organs?

That's so nice to hear and I'm glad you are enjoying my vids :). Ptera is great! and very underestimated, which works in our favor ;).
That frog @8.25, I seen which direction it was walking and on my screen I caught the last glimpse of the shiny skin before I swooped in and made a "calculated" guess haha. I do that often when I lose sight of something.
well I had thought about that Congenital Hypoalgesia as a mutation, but I figured I'm mostly a 1 shot anyway, so I bypassed that one and the reinforced tendons literally saves you 2% on your jump, for me that isn't a big enough save on stamina, so I bypassed that one too.
But I went for Accelerated Prey Drive also, that's my first one. 2nd is the Nutrition Decay, so your diet decays slower. 3rd was the saltwater one, so I can drink it.
the fourth I'm considering multi chambered lungs or the ability to carry heavier bodies. so I can carry heavier prey away from danger lol.
but those last 2 mutations, I haven't seen them unlocked yet?
My goal is to live on South Beach and nest there, picking off the easy prey as they tackle the stretch of water and sand, with a flock of Ptera swooping down at them and feasting on their organs LOL.
On south beach I have killed many players as there is no where to hide, so I was thinking imagine having a whole flock living there?. Players would be scared to be down on that beach XD. I am quite devastating as 1 Ptera but imagine 5 or 6? my god, 20 hp points x6 on every shot? could take down a lot, hardly any obstacles to watch out for. lol.
and to open up corpses you triple tap E and it will open them up after a few goes, depending on your size and the corps size. that's been newly added actually. but is easier then before.

@@soulfullcreations7308 Thanks for the elaborate but comprehensive response. I think the damage debuff saved me once or twice from a raptor attack when I was drinking.
Good point about the reinforced tendons, it's also a bit of a pain to get but nothing compared to the saltwater one.

Also the salt water one is a PAIN!
haha. Especially when you vomit and lose all your nutrition, food and water.
I do it passively over my grow time to try and avoid vomiting. But that's nearly impossible haha.
Have you unlocked multi chambered lungs? If so how did you do it?
@@soulfullcreations7308 NO, I haven't tried it yet. I've read that you needed to use 6-8 full stamina bars sprinting or fast swimming to unlock it.
Couldn't find anything about the ability to carry larger bodies though.
That's a recent update of info, and it looks like the extra weight one was removed :(.
It was called cached something lol.
Well looks like I'll be trying the multi chambered lungs then hehe.

South Beach is a pretty consistent turtle spot,
But I don't think they exist anywhere else haha.
Ptera videos like this have gotten me interested in the game, would you recommend buying? I've seen a lot of issues brought up by people about development time, bugs and unpopular game changes, so I'm wondering if it's worth buying or if I should give it another year.

That's a hard one. It depends on you, and your PC specs. The games runs very poorly if PC isn't up to scratch.
The game is $30 Australian dollars. Quite a cheap game considering I have over 1k hours in a 30 dollar game. That value is insane in my opinion.
People love to complain, so don't get too emotionally invested into what others are saying and the development of the game.
In the past 4 years Evrima has become a much better game, so I think the development is on the right track.
The game has a bit of a learning curve, and if you are frustrated by games easily then I would suggest waiting. But if you don't mind the learning curve or you can walk away if the games current state isn't what you want right now.
For me I try stay away from the toxicity of the community within the game development. (Those who take it too seriously). It's just a game.
So depends on your character as a person.
For me the game is beautiful and it has its good days and bad days and I recommend the game. But really depends on who is buying it and what expectations they have.
So just something to keep in mind.
@@soulfullcreations7308 So in your opinion the game is optimized alright and development is on a good track? I noticed the recommended gpu is a GTX 1070 which won't be a problem.
But I suppose I might as well wait and see for the next major update to drop and make a decision then, the gameplay itself still looks pretty basic. Thanks for the input, appreciate it.
@@Agora2021 Hmm I don't think it's optimised that well, keep in mind I have 0 development expertise.
And I believe that the gpu recommendation is for the legacy version, which is the version they scrapped.
So I would maybe do some more research about your GPU.
But with a modernish PC the game runs pretty good. I think the servers are a bit of an issue though.
I honestly think it's a good time to get involved if money isn't tight.
As once elders are Introduced that will close the game loop of a dinos life. (Which should be very soon)
But the game is great I truly love it.
If you are coming on to play ptera,
You will have fun if you do some tutorial research on ptera before you play.
And I think ptera is a great reason to jump In as it is the easiest way to learn the map and mechanics with less in game stress.
And the gameplay may seem basic as it's not got all those shiny unlockable things like PoT and BoB.
But the play style is a different survival to those other games. I think combat and survival elements are better in the isle,
The gameplay is simple but takes a lot to master, as the action is faster, its not a battle of turning cricles. The fights need to be well thought out, your survival needs to be thought out otherwise you die.
I get more joy and satisfaction out of the isle, but it's much more hard core. And because each Dino has its own elements, there is such a high replay value, especially after you can survive as one Dino easy enough, to then move to the next and it's an entirely different way of playing.
But at the end of the day, it depends on what you want, what kind of experience you are looking for :).

1:59 oh come on tell me hearing that at night isn’t scary lol!!! Im glad they added those other “variants” of dilos 1 call to the game finally, I heard them in the dilo sneak peak streams before but they weren’t in game for a while until this update. Imo they’re so creepy sounding from far away lol!
Mannn!!! I heard 2 of a night time with the different calls calling to one another, It sounded awesome, it gives me chills. Definitely a very ominous feeling when you hear them :).
absolutely awesome, adds a lot more depth to your game play hearing the different tonal qualities in the calls.

@@soulfullcreations7308 oh yeah for sure, I wanna make another ptera video at some point for sure. Im at Gulf Shores currently so I see a lot of seagulls which always interest me a ton lol and make me wanna play ptera when I get back 🤣 also yes Im in comments all the time in tons of videos so you probably see me a lot if you watch some other Isletubers like Metta, Thevian, etc lol.
@@dtbrex08 Hhahha! I get the same feeling, I am in rural Australia so a lot of birds of prey, I watch them soaring around looking for prey in the canola fields. Makes me want to play again ahaha.
I havnt seen Metta or Thevian, ill check them out :). Although I think I have seen you in the comments of a few different vids lol.
