After about the 4th year of trying to make a ginger bread village with the kids we renamed it to The Train Wreck. It turned out much more fun to make because mistakes were encouraged.
Use Royal Icing to stick your gingerbread house together and use it as the snow decoration on the house and to ‘glue’ on sweets as well. Beat an egg white until fluffy, add icing sugar (powdered sugar) u til mixture is stiff. Store icing in fridge in an airtight container. It's a visual reminder that *anyone* can get interested in such things--it's not exclusively the lifestyle of rugged men and flannel shirts and wood-everywhere dens. I used to travel a lot for work and could not afford to come down sick so I carried with me , this is the brand name but there are generics, Emergen-C. They are a powder with large amounts of Vitamin C and they will knock a "plague" out of you quickly. You just have to increase your water intake as it tends to work your kidneys kind of hard. Hang in there, keep going and we all look forward to next years visits with you and your family!
I started taking Vit. C about 35 years ago and I have only had 2 colds in the last 30+ years and no flu at all. I also take a multivitamin. I didn't even get Covid from my son and his family when they visited with hugs and all before they found out they were positive.
I turned to using big cans of beans (soup) & balled up bread to hold walls in place while the icing stiffened up. A simple pattern the 1st year can easily turn into extravagant designs the years following.
Word of advice from my younger days when my hair was quite long and I camped out often: Tie your hair back when playing with fire I didn't and a spark hit the bottom and flamed up. Thankfully I had a minor burn and had to have it cut to blend for a while. It could have been so much worse.

I think you and your cousin have an amazing teamwork and you could tell in the short clips...or maybe that was shown by choice. At the end when you selectively cut branches off a live tree to add to Christmas/holiday presents just showed that your mother and father provided the guidance or encouragement to understand sensible harvesting of trees and plants. A fireplace and stove in one now that is convenient. Reminds me of the old black smoky stoves one side was the wood burner that heated the entire stove and oven plus heated the house.
Just a tip? Cook cookie in a cookie pan as one big slab and cut shapes when still warm then let cool. The paste part should always be kinda dry and thick. Add more icing sugar 😁. ❤️🇨🇦
Take the sink pipe through the cabin wall use circular saw drill cutter to cut hole in cabin wall for plastic pipe to go through don't forget to seal the hole with mastic when pipe is fitted then fit pipe into 45 gallon barrel for the waste water with a tap near bottom of the barrel that you can use to draw off the waste water for your garden

Or you could run the pipe to your toilet to flush your toilet make sure you have a filter fitted to prevent any solids from sink going into the barrel or the toilet
A beautiful video. Your attempt at the gingerbread house all it takes is practice. I made many before I could make a decent looking one. Not perfect at all but decent. Your dinner looked amazing. Great video! That was so relaxing. Sometimes you just need to add a little more confectioners sugar to your royal icing and it will become more glue like and hold things together better. I hope you continue to heal. Merry Christmas! ❤❤🎄🎄

Merry Christmas Emily and wishes for a Happy New Year. Just so you know for next time the joins of a gingerbread house need a stiff icing and it’s best if you make your own. Put a couple of cups of pure icing sugar in a bowl and add little bits of water at a time, too much and a bit more icing sugar will fix it. What’s left you can colour to decorate. Scrape some on the join then one long continuous scalloped bead on the inside to hold it. I hold the panels in place with jars, then when set solid, decorate. Better luck next time. Love the candles. 😊

Or you could run the pipe to your toilet to flush your toilet make sure you have a filter fitted to prevent any solids from sink going into the barrel or the toilet
A beautiful video. Your attempt at the gingerbread house all it takes is practice. I made many before I could make a decent looking one. Not perfect at all but decent.

Perhaps the walls were too thick on the Gingerbread House since they didn't want to stay up. Love the idea you made them from scratch. Those were some really nice looking Christmas lights. Great video! That was so relaxing. Sometimes you just need to add a little more confectioners sugar to your royal icing and it will become more glue like and hold things together better. I hope you continue to heal. Merry Christmas! ❤❤🎄🎄

Merry Christmas Emily and wishes for a Happy New Year. Just so you know for next time the joins of a gingerbread house need a stiff icing and it’s best if you make your own. Put a couple of cups of pure icing sugar in a bowl and add little bits of water at a time, too much and a bit more icing sugar will fix it. What’s left you can colour to decorate. Scrape some on the join then one long continuous scalloped bead on the inside to hold it. I hold the panels in place with jars, then when set solid, decorate. Better luck next time. Love the candles. 😊

Gingerbread houses. Look up a recipe for royal icing to hold it together and use it for the decorating. Decorating the sections with the lines before you put it together helps. Royal icing also glues the candies on. It also helps to laugh a lot! Blessings on your cabin!
