Another great video Pete......man that opening gets me fired up everytime I see a post.....thanks for all your time you spend making us content to help all of us along....
Thanks for these two videos Pete, it's perfect for me. I've got clients who have huge lawns and can't irrigate and doing what I can to prep the turf for the coming draught is something I've wanted for quite a while, and what's really perfect is being that I'm in Rhode Island, your prep is a snapshot for me a month in advance. I'm hoping you do another video series about the humic acid and draught treatments. Thanks again, and God Bless.
I love your show, the teaching you do is exactly what GOD would be happy with. Keep up the amazing work Pete. Oh by the way I love the music and I watch Daily.
My grass is thick, really green but there is still browning at the roots. I also have some brown blades in it that I think might be dormant Bermuda grass…I’m in Michigan and this is our first warm week so I am watching it to see if I’m right….but the root (at the edges) aren’t green when I edge. Thoughts? Love the videos! I’ve learned A LOT! This pandemic has allowed me to get all about my lawn. Started a neighbor project last year on your urging that turned out great and now I have two more neighbors asking for help!
Whew, boy look at them stripes!!!! Thanks for all the videos, Pete! Got my delivery of Protene Summer Blend yesterday and ready to throw it down. Enjoy your weekend!!!
Thanks for the code! Been looking for flag poles for our yard. Just need to figure out the best spot! Always love your videos sir! God bless you and your family!
Slow release N, Potassium, Sea Kelp Hydretain and water. Mow it taller, mulch if you can. I like some liquid aerate before the heat starts in to prevent runoff on those intermittent big rains.
Just threw down some Protene 12-0-24 I got from you this weekend following your guide. Excited to see how it holds up going into the hot temps. These last few weeks have been chilly in NC for this time of year but we got some 90s coming this weekend! Not much rain either.
I fertilized 3 days ago in central Mn with 20 lbs (flagstar) over 6,000 square ft. I suck at spreading fert!!! I cant see the fert coming out of hopper or wheel marks. Love your videos.
I am still awaiting my Bermuda grass to fully awaken! Usually I let it be fully green for 2 weeks before my first application of nitrogen. Good video! 🇺🇸💪👍👊
thank you Pete for dispelling this misnomer of Idiocracy! The wrong knowledge is very widespread... nitrogen doesn't equal fungus, I've seen not only the study you speak of, but many others as well... And speaking for warm season grass, why you wouldn't want to fertilize your Turf in the heart of the growing season baffles me.... Beyond baffles me actually! why some people think the spring is okay but the summer is off limits?... The only reason you wouldn't want to fertilize warm-season Turf in let's say July or August (even Sept where i live is 95 degrees still) would be if you were in the middle of a bad drought.. you should always plan your fertilizer apps around a good rainfall and never underestimate how much water it takes to water in your fertilizer... if you don't have sufficient water you shouldn't be fertilizing or even growing grass in the first place.... My Bermuda loves the heat.. that's its peak growing season for Pete Sake!! which is why that's when you want to keep fertilizing! as well as the spring... you know I never heard this nonsense about not fertilizing in the summer before I came to TH-cam but it seems it's very widespread misinformation... Edit: not only warm season grass but you're showing you can do it for cool season grasses as well... That protene fertilizer you showed a few videos ago seems to be formulated great for hot dry weather.. as always just make sure it gets more than enough watered-in
How can you not like this guy man! Looking forward to the Bermuda videos because I’m deep in the south and am covered up with it. I’ll keep watching no matter the grass type. Also love the leaked stripe! Can’t wait to see that video. I can tell you I think it’s my personal favorite so far due to how much I love baseball and would love my yard to have this stripe! Haha
Here in Scandinavia they recommend that you fertilize somewhere end of march/ early april, mid june and then septermber ish. 3 times a year 4-6 weeks apart
We have not had rain in two month's now. We had 0.16". That's it. I am in the suburbs of Chicago. Just 15 minutes west. Ugh. We just got out of winter dormancy, only to go right back into it due to lack of any kind of rain. There has been a ton or rain south of us, north of us, east of us.
Hey Pete with GCI turf services.Great video. Love your respect for the American Flag. I agree, should be in every lawn in America. Interesting what you said about your bluegrass. I'm doing a renovation in the fall and was going to use your TTTF, but am considering your kbg/TTTF blend. How much direct sunlight does KGB need?
Perfect timing, as I am shopping for a flag pole as we speak!!!! Question tho... I have sprinklers in the yard, but would you still feed the same if you didn’t have sprinklers. Thanks for your time.👍🏻
Debating on natural edge or plastic edge for mulch bed. Ground is extremely hard here and can only get about a 2 inch deep edge. What would you suggest? Also if you do a natural edge and use a string trimmer like you do to edge, how much grass and dirt gets onto the mulch? We are getting black mulch so that would show up and look terrible. Thanks!
Can you put granular fertilizer down right before summer say 85 degrees on a lawn that does not have sprinklers and the customer wants to rely on rainfall only? Thanks
The Protene I put down this spring lit my new lawn on green fire! Can’t wait to order the summer blend especially given the dry spring we’re having in NC
Yeah, it perked the TTTF right up after winter and got a nice dark green color. Huge contrast with my neighbor who didn’t fertilize! The color faded a bit after about 60 days when the heat/dryness affected it. If I irrigated, it would have stayed darker.
@@andrewpeters5907 nice! I’ll probably try it in fall and see which I like better. I already have enough Flagship and Double Dark but once I run out I’ll check out the Protene
I’m been experimenting with sea blend from ocean organics but I’m not sure about summer but it worked great in spring and I’ll test in summer and fall but it has an assortment of organics ; sea meal, poultry meal, blood meal etc
Pete, mate being here in Michigan temps be bouncing across the spectrum 60 to 90 in few days, how do me compensate for drastic changes in temp? Cheers mate
Love how you maintain the grass and that color too... still learning year after year! I renew my backyard with the Cool Blue Mix I am thinking at some point to over-seed with only KGB to raise that percentage!
I messed vermiculite and potting soil next to the steps in our yard this winter. I kinda just lazily pushed flat what I couldn't pick up. That patch came up like a carpet. Now I pitch the question... Can I make a mix of that and rake it over the lawn? Is this a good idea... We are just outside Jhb in South Africa so our summers go to 40+ degrees Celcius in summer.
Pete, I’m in Ohio with a lawn mix of KBG and PRG. Not by choice, I’ve got tall fescue mixed/scattered in as well (not clumpy) and I really don’t like the appearance or look of it. Is there anything I can spray, besides nuking the whole yard, to get rid of Tall Fescue?
I’m saving up for a new zero turn so I’m watching the money but feel like I need to put something down before it’s blue blazes hot. I’ve also got about a 15,000 square foot front yard. Would Milorganite be ok on my turf type tall fescue? If so how many pounds per square feet would you suggest.

I want to over seed this fall with your fescue/ bluegrass mix. Suggestions on where to start since getting a late start on the lawn? Going to start your cool grass program as soon as I can reseed this fall. Thanks for all you do to educate homeowners.
