It was always a live action cartoon. A comic book come to life as the animated openings showed. Stills animated. Animation came to life. It looked like it was drawn. The movie and two specials of the first season were lifted straight from the comics with slight changes tied to real World War II history. The episodes of the two series continued that to some extent with some based on movies. A little comic book mixed with something real. It was never intended to be more than a fun live action comic book with a little "if you weren't careful you might just learn something". It was also designed to complement reading the comic books not replace it.

I prefer the 1970s episodes. The Nazi enemy got too boring. I like the set-up for Diana as a confident agent rather than Yeoman Prince following dopey about. Lynda's performance just got better with every season. She did some of her own stunts, including the risky hanging from a helicopter, which she wasn't authorized to do. One of the stunt women couldn't perform the stunt (injured or something) and Lynda just did it to save time. She later got told off for it! You show the shot in video. Anyway, good overview.

Sadly, May of 2021 I lost her from a massive heart attack. She left behind 4 of her kids who were all married and have kids of their own, and her Mom that is still living. But in 2003 we broke up but in 2017 I found her again through Facebook and remain friends up until her passing. My life has not been the same since she's been gone, I still loved her and I think she was liking me all over again as well. So the television Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter will always be my favorite. Plus, Lynda Carter's birthday and mine are the same, July 24th. And my old girlfriend who past away, hers July 31st.

The first one she did was sort of testing the waters and she did come across a little too overdramatic when reacting to situations (this film being The Last Song), but then Born to be Sold which was an incredibly serious topic that it covered she did well, and she did even better right after that with my favourite of her films, a mystery thriller called Hotline. Roy Rogers did actually complain about Lynda's "bathing suit" hence why we get the WW cowgirl outfit (in addition to her motorbiking and skateboarding gear). Sure there's loads of bondage but also 'sleepy' fetish (because she's always being knocked out), mind control (the Japanese telekinetic/Pied Piper) gynophilia (the WW robot in Deadly Toys) and her being frozen in 'The Fine Art of Crime' basically kickstarted ASFR (youtube and Deviantart are full of re-edited clips where she realises she's been outsmarted and decides to genuinely surrender and become the villain's mannequin). Lynda Carter was gorgeous as Wonder Woman, and (even though in her 70s today) still looks beautiful today. She turned up in _Wonder Woman 84,'_ which is cool even though the movie wasn't received as well as the previous.
I want to do a full watch of the show when I catch up with my long 'To Watch' list.
Oh! And Stam, you forgot something else that happens a lot in the show: Diana/Wonder Woman gets chloroformed a lot.

I used to nag my dad to let me watch 'The Six Million Dollar Man,' which was on the same time as 'Wonder Woman,' on the other channel. My mother would always insist my father give in to my eight year-old preferences and my father would grumble and put on Lee Majors, instead of Lynda Carter. Our relationship, to this day, has never recovered.

It's kind of weirdly fascinating to see that Lyle Wagners chest/underarm hair grew back after that one Carol Burnett sketch. As for "Not reading anything into it..." It's the truest thing to the source material. Wonder woman's creators, The Marsten's were kind of into that sort of thing. Read all you want into it. Wonder Woman was created as a bondage fetish super hero.

Enjoyed the video, sadly I am teeny bit disappointed that you do not include the scene at the end of Wonder Woman The movie 2 or whenever it's called where Lynda Carter saves the baby from the falling beam. That would've been a nice touch, but then again I think the movie was not out yet when you recorded this video. Missed opportunities just because of time. PS: Lynda Carter was my first TV girlfriend. And Lindsay Wagner, Marie Osmond, All of the Charlie's Angels, Erin Gray, Carrie Fisher, and the list goes on and on. It was good to be a adolescent boy in the 1970s. Cheers Dion

4:10 - actually, in the original TV series starring George Reeves, Clark Kent was an established character all his own, with friends, interests, and the respect of his colleagues. Something all later renditions of Superman have failed to do.

No, you have it backwards! In the comics, radio serials, movie shorts (Kirk Alyn) and the aforementioned George Reeves televsion series NEVER portrayed Clark Kent as a stuttering, timid, klutz. It was Christopher Reeve, taking inspiration for the character from Cary Grant in "Bringing Up Baby", decided to portray Clark Kent in that way. That was NOT comic book canon. So, all the actors who came before Reeve and after (Dean Cain, Tim Daly, Tom Welling, and Henry Cavill...) are portraying Clark Kent in the correct manner.

Lynda Carter was Most definitely The A+ aka Diana Prince/Wonder Woman! Loved Cathy Lee Crosby as well as her Beauty and Talent But the Original Wonder Woman Movie Could never take off for Her! Carter fit the part to a T! Season One Will always stand as my favorite 1940s WW2 Comic Book Era! Loved The Military Staff as Well as Lyle Waggoner aka Major Steve Trevor, Richard Eastham aka General Blankenship and Beatrice Colen aka Etta Candy! Season One's Villains and Characters for that Era was Pretty Cool as well! First of all Wish ABC would of stuck with and picked up on the Next Two Seasons! and Second That when CBS Picked up on and doing Seasons Two and Three That There Could of been Sixteen Years Age Gap Time Eras Storylines between the Three Seasons! Going Right Directly into 1977 Disco Era was so lame for the Show's run! Thank-You for Sharing!

I'm loving your videos on both tv incarnations of the Amazing Amazon. Your respect and endearment for older shows comes through.--The first season certainly had lots of style, and the first half of the second season was loads of fun. Sure, the first half of the second season was very much Bionic Man-influenced, but some of those episodes were pretty well-written and dramatic (I'm thinking "Knockout" here, one of my faves of the entire series). Then, Bruce Lansbury, nephew of you-know-who, took over. He had pulled a stint on "Mission Impossible" for some time and changed the series up. From that point on, the series starts to lose its direction. Some of the episodes that followed were gems, for sure, but the quality writing became almost non-existent for most episodes. Honestly, the third season is mostly worth skipping altogether.

Robert Wagner had let it be known he wouldn't be back for a season four, because he was sick of playing the "doofus in distress" that was always needing to be rescued by Lynda Carter. As it turned out, the show got cancelled anyway.
You also forgot to mention that Lynda Carter did many of her own stunts, and that it was a requirement to get the part, because there weren't a lot of female stunt-women, and far fewer with Wonder Woman's looks, so producers didn't want an editing nightmare trying to not show the stunt-woman's face and having to splice in separate takes of the actress when it was necessary to show her face.
Lynda Carter was and always will be the definitive Wonder Woman, even if the show didn't live up to that, much like Christopher Reeve with Superman. She's one of the most beautiful women to ever walk the planet, and she managed to convey all the positive aspects of women -- beauty, intelligence, compassion.

Wonder Woman reps the late 1970s big time. Lynda was so much better than the plots, really the only reason to watch was her and her stunts. Some of the stunts were so tough that guys had to do them for her, such as the famous motorcycle jump over the fountain. One of the best tv series intros, too. Lots to like, Lynda Carter is iconic.

It's no accident that Wonder Woman's creator was the inventor of the polygraph, into bondage and had a threesome lifestyle with his legal wife and a polyamorous second woman. Both women influenced the development of the character.
