The roads are very well maintained in Dolomites. Especially in the South Tyrol area.

Hi, it depends, you should always have them with you. If there is a fresh snow you will definitely need them. But the roads in Dolomites are actually very well maintained in general

Is it safe and easy to drive in winter ?
Going from Bolzano to Ortisei late March.. do you think we need to snow chains for rental car? We live in California, very little snow and rain. Your video seems like the drive should be ok .
Hi ! The roads in Alto Adige are very well maintained in winter and if you’re coming from Bolzano you should be fine … but it always depends on the weather, if there is a lot of fresh snow you might need them … it’s always better to have snow chains with you in winter time when in mountains, you never know … enjoy your time in Dolomites ☺️
