I left Dalmellington in 1972 aged 10. The last time I was inside the church was for my fathers funeral in 1992. He is buried in the cemetery behind, as was his wish. Surprised it has closed to regular worship but such is the demise of many such buildings. I attended Sunday School at The Store (Running Dog Saloon) if you remember that in the late 60's, when it was run by Chief Jimmy Johnstone, just before he also moved to the East Midlands. They all dressed up as cowboys and Indians and even made a film.
MY cousin Bobby Templeton was one of the Craigmark Cowboys, Black Bob, I think. They were often on the pre-film Pathe News shorts in the Doon Cinema near the kirk.
