Apparently this episode was more personal to the mangaka (author/creator) ONE because, let’s just say, his art style “isn’t the best” and people put him down for it and told him to quit early on. But ONE is the goat who brought the stories of One Punch Man and Mob Psycho to life and he will forever be a legend for that. Not to mention he worked hard to improve his drawing over the years and proved that you don’t need to be an amazing artist to become a successful mangaka.

This episode is a bit of a parody of a common anime trope, where the protagonist silently suffers the resentment of the people they are protecting. But Saitama is just like "Screw you guys! I saved you, you ungrateful dicks."

Yes! The voice actor for Silver Fang is Kazuhiro Yamaji, the same as Kenny.
By the way, Kazuhiro Yamaji is married to Romi Park, the voice actor for Hange.
This is why Saitama really is a true hero. He doesn't care about the admiration or the recognition even though he acts like he does. He will save people to the best of his ability for no recognition and will even welcome the disdain.
I think it’s not quite that? He definitely cares, but it won’t change his actions. Cheered, jeered or even ignored, if it’s a punchable problem causing trouble it’s gonna get punched.
Have you watched the series? Admiration definitely isn't his main motivation, but he joined hero association for recognition and if he had stopped caring about it, he would have quit. He cared enough to run around the city a whole day, looking for something to do when Genos pointed out, that if he doesn't do anything for a week, he gets thrown out. He cares a lot, just not more than being heroic.
I think he just wants to realize his emotions he lost through his years of becoming strong like that and he gets money out of it, instead of doing it for free so he saw that as a win-win 🤷♂️
@@kagato23exactly, he has the want. i feel like every person wants admiration deep down, any person who says otherwise is lying, its part of our nature, and its the way our brain is wired. we are social creatures, its always a motivation to want acceptance, thats a given. but he still does it anyways and sucks it up. that takes real strength, to admit you want the admiration, but still do it knowing full well you wont get it because its the right thing to do. thats true strength, and its why he’s my favorite character of fiction. he is so much deeper than the “gag character” than everyone thinks he is.
Little did Genos know that Saitama wouldn't even think twice about destroying the world for him.
Saitama lied. He said he didn't want to do the hero thing for admiration but in the previous episodes, even on the episode when Saitama found out that nobody knew him, we know Saitama wants the admiration/appreciation. He wanted his own fan club, applause from the public, but here he chose the path of a public enemy. He was willing to shoulder the blame. I'd say, this is his true essence as a hero.
He did not want any and did not live for it, but he was still shocked 0 people knew who he was after 3 years of continuous hellish training and heroing.
Admiration from the masses is not the reason he does hero work. It would be a nice side benefit, but ultimately does not factor into his decision to be a hero or not.

Not really. Saitama just want someone to be watching him. He is a lonely who lack emotions but try his hard to live as much as a normal human live like.

The one thing they love more than the hero is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying. so in spite of everything you've done for them eventually they will hate you

Aside from comedy, I really like OPM's serious side. like this episode. Because it is based on the reality
The Opening song of OPM is the best work out song ever. It gives me instant adrenaline to go an extra mile while working out. It's amazing!
5:03 pay attention to this line and after 4 or 5 seasons you will start to understand WHY this meteor "suddenly" changed its path, specifically to Z city.
One Punch Man's plot starts soooo simple but suddenly EXPLODES after season 2. Currently in the manga, it is super intense, serious, and ... ominous.
Also, there are other things and events that you can link to the same thing as this "sudden change of meteor path".
Great reaction, but side note, I truly appreciate Michelle's repeating of the japanese words and learning them bit by bit, that's basically how I learned my Japanese vocabulary - just memorizing, repeating words, writing them down. Keep going, don't give up, in like a year you'll be holding basic conversations, ganbare!!!

Bang is such a great character and for sure is the “wise and powerful old man” trope but has the heart of a young man. His arc is great. Everyone’s arc is great in this anime/manga

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Love this show. Waiting for more seasons. So glad u got into it too. It's very unique concept but now there are more shows like this. But this one has a good story. Like it's written really well compared to the others. Ok, so this is a parody anime. The writers throw in so many anime into this it's kinda fun to see what u can spot. Fang is cool. This episode is one of the plot holes of the show. That meteor cud be easily handled by that green haired chick a.k.a Tatsumaki/Terrible Tornado
And this is how you know that others heros don't give a fuck about city z. They made a call for all heros to stop that meteorite but only bang and Genos show up. And that foboi didn't even come to save th city but to test his new weapons. I get that others heros must be busy too but at least show a bit interest to city Z even if it's a poor trash city.
