Damn, replaying the story once again with the knowledge of melt's time travel made me notice the small hints that went over my dummy head in the first playthrough. I LOVE IT
So lemme see if I understand this. She comes from a future where the MC lost against Kiara cause they couldn’t get rid of all of the Kama (or whatever they’re called) gauges? And to truly beat her here, she’s willing to sacrifice herself but is saved by Tristan, leaving Emiya Alter to drag her down with him? Did I get that right?
@@senpaiammo602 present Melt is the one dead in the church, it’s why the Melt during the event still has the injuries Kiara inflicted during their first fight in the original timeline.
@@senpaiammo602 She is actually the future Melt. It was shown that present Melt doesn't have enough time to regain her strength and defeat Kiara thus it was better if future Melt stayed and the present one was discarded in the church. If you check NPC support Melt’s level and np level, you'd see it decreases the further you progress into the story.
Before the event started Melt was scrapped by Kiara for refusing to work for her and was left to die at the church. In the original timeline (not the one from our POV) the MC found her and she became his servant. In this timeline all of his servants from Chaldea (Nero,Tamamo,Emiya) was killed by Kiara upon arriving on SERAPH, so he had no choice other than to rely on her alone. Over the course of the event she basically fell in love with him, which is why she's helping him to return to Chaldea. Just like you said, they couldn't defeat Kiara here because the MC refused to kill the alteregos to destroy the karmaphage. So then Kiara killed him. Melt basically made the ultimate sacrifice by going back in time to have another chance at saving him again, severely damaging her body in the process. That's why in the flashback we can see there are 2 Melts, the one that just time travelled and the one that was dying before meeting the MC. One of them had to die so that Kiara wouldn't notice, so both of them agreed that the one that timetravelled should replace the other because she's stronger at this point in time. This time they made a new plan and was able to defeat Kiara. She was planning to die with Kiara down there but Emiya alter and Tristan saved her, allowing BB to make her summonable by Chaldea
It was a progress for me. Happy for a new event and new servants, to crying at this. I am glad on the last day, I got her. As nice as new servants are, getting one you had a adventure with is better.
