Replace cracked Ring Doorbell screen

  • This is how I replaced the cracked screen on my Ring Doorbell. You can use any nice thin clear piece of plastic. I used an old
cassette tape box because it was right there in my junk drawer. I do not recommend using super glue to glue the new screen cover on since it can cause plastic to fog up. Let me know if you have any questions!!!

Thanks for the video. I have a Ring Doorbell Pro that had the same issue with a hazy glass over the lens. I used your technique using an old CD case that was crystal clear. It worked like a charm. My Ring doorbell is completely restored to normal function. Thanks so much!

Thank you for this awesome video . I thought I was going to have to buy a new Ring door bell. I used my dremel tool to cut the plastic cassette cover and sanded the edges as you did. I can now see perfectly it’s just like brand new.

Good thing I saved all my cassette tapes from the 80’s!
Nice video. I might try it on my doorbell Pro- much bigger piece.

Do you mean why you removed the plastic screen cover? I have no idea why it's blurry. Did you clean the lens?

@@laurievalko498 yes i removed the cover because it was cracked and now the camera is blurry and not in focus. Cleaning it doesn’t help

How is it holding up after all this time? And did you have any issues with glare (both day and night)?
Mine just cracked as well, and I hate spending money on a new one (even with the discount from Ring) for something that works so well other than a cracked piece of plastic/glass.

It's still working! I get notifications and can still see clearly out of it. I don't have issues of glare. It won't cost you anything to try replacing the screen, it's useless with the screen cracked.

So apparently my doorbell is not on the ring plus bullshit plan so they don't cover it being all sun faded and etched, it's pathetic that this dude is making millions on these cameras made in China and using absolute crap materials I live in ny its not like I'm in Arizona I talk to support in India I don't know what she's saying nor does she understand what I'm talking about ,telling me to reboot and this is after I send the pictures of damage. I'm not racist shit I'm Indian I'm so tired of out sourced support lines .. she ends giving me 30% on my next purchase.. they don't sell parts why? And why hasn't any companies started producing parts ? You would think eBay and Amazon would have tons of Chinese aftermarket parts ..

I noticed you covered what looks like a little sensor at the bottom left of the screen in adhesive, did this have any negative effects? Looking at the adhesive that ring apply, they avoid that area.

At the time, I didn't notice that sensor.

I did this and it worked, but now my camera only show up black and white even in full sun. And no, I didn't make the lens out of tinted plastic. It was a CD case that was in new condition.

Did you check the settings on your RIng app to make sure you didn't accidentally make a change?

This happened to my camera and the best they could do was to offer a 35% discount. So dumb

Same here. I thought why not try and fix it because it was totally useless with the cracked screen.

Hi there can you tell me is there anything you can use to cover the plastic so it does not fade or get cracks in thanks for your help.

I can't think of anything. I ended up replacing the plastic with a small piece of glass. The daytime view is excellent, however, the night vision no longer works.
