Masking tape and super glue is a recommended method with luthiers. Ive used it on a lathe and works well as long as the tape is of decent quality. Other method ive used is hot glue...then melted it off with meths but that can be a bit messy. Great video.
I don't know it might be due to having a varied occupational background as an engineer, design draughtsman and applying that experience to my love of wood and woodturning. Being an old codger helps.
A lot of vibration expected as you increase the eccentricity. Could you use your fluting and carving jig to cut the grooves while rotating the lathe by hand? This may provide a lot more control of cutting and no vibrations. Also less forces trying to fling the pendant blank off the chuck. Dave.
Good idea thanks, I may well do in the future. However I want to make it acceptable on the mini lathe, i've made a smaller version which works well and the vibration is not to much for the Axminster mini lathe. I'm in the process of finishing my next video which showes this, The larger version works fine on my larger lathe with no vibration so i can increase the speed to make turning easier.

How do you come up with not only the ideas but also the solutions?
