    [2:00] [25:38] NASSAU 2 interlocking - LIRR's Oyster Bay Branch connects to the Main Line west into Mineola Station.

    I'm sorry, but two track Mineola, with the rapid succession of Railroad Crossings (and NASSAU Tower) was better.

    What a shit load of bad decisions lirr made re:mineola when putting in 3rd track....no center platform or access to middle track and all oyster bay trains using the one track/platform

      Oyster Bay has low ridership compared to Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson Branch, that's why it's a single platform operation.

      ​@historyisthebestmyfans2094 and it's a terrible way they did it. Westbound not so bad. Eastbound however oyster bay trains have to cross from the southernmost or middle track(sorry I forget which is mainline 1/2/3)to the northernmost track stop at platform otherwise used by westbound mainline trains gumming up the works. Not even possible to run eastbound trains down center track and bypass mineola they have both oyster bay branch tracks going into the one track not both. Not putting in middle platform at mineola and dumb and typical penny wise pound foolishness of the lirr.

      @@Mike-hf8kq There are space constraints at Mineola. They can't widen the area any more.
      I haven't heared of any delays because of Oyster Bay trains blocking Westbound trains going to GCT or PS.

      @historyisthebestmyfans2094 mineola and surrounding stuff was designed for there to be room for island platform. Lirr changed the plans to save money. It may not cause delays to schedule the way it is written. But schedule and routing through Nassau interlocking is restrained and throuput is reduced because of oyster bay trains.

      @historyisthebestmyfans2094 similar situation is on Belmont stakes day when the extras from Belmont park have to make the move 3 tracks over coming out of west leg of wye to continue to Jamaica jamming things up on mainline.
