I agree with Scott I think season 2 should have had a big bad. It would have brought them all together more. Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed season 2, but I think it would have been cool to have a big bad.

That's the problem in S2. There was nothing that tied all empires. I thought it was the fae, then i was dissapointed. Nevertheless, I would still be watching this group of friends for many years to come.
In my opinion season 2 felt disconnected. Past the Hermits coming the interactions between them was limited to a few people rather than season 1 I wish season 2 had a big bad or something
I hope if they do a season 3 that they collaborate on something to tie them all together. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a big bad, but it could be something like the fae or even just the history of the world foretelling events that the empires need to collaborate on. The one thing that i really missed in empires season 2 was that interconnectedness that Xornoth had brought. The Hermitcraft colab did this well too but unfortunately that occurred in the middle of the season leaving the end lacklustre. Not saying that season 2 was bad, because it was still super fun and all of the creators involved are great but it just didn’t compare to season 1 due to the lack of interconnected story lines Edit: spelling changes
The thing is Empires is composed of people who I think aren't necessarily interested in such big storylines, but would rather play alone, decorating their area in a certain theme and have more smaller collabs throughout their series and potentialy a more organic storyline between just a few members (like the cod war or lizzie and joey's rivalry). What the server needs is not neccesarily a big bad, but more server wide events like passing on the crown or the big rift festival. Something that doesn't force them to follow a certain storyline just gives them an opportunity to have a few big collab episodes throughout their series.
But the thing is. It was so clear this was a story and lore heavy server, I love all these creators but if role-play isn’t for you or you weren’t confident enough to do it? Why join a rp server- Empires was so cleary story based and Scott states it here. Like this was planned since the first episode… it’s like a show, it starts off slice of life and moves into story heavy. The creativity and lore of everyone’s stories in season 1 is what brought people to love the Smp. But when u sit here and have a season 2 that is fun but lacking everything the first had. Yeah people r gonna be kinda bored or just not like it. Bc it loses that flair and creativity it had. If season 1 was just fun and chaos then that would’ve been fine for season 2- but it wasn’t. And while I understand not wanting to feel constricted but no one was really constructed in season 1. They had their own lore, there just happened to be to be an overarching story that connected everyone. And I’m not saying u can’t have fun with it, I loved the shit Joel and Jimmy and the others were doing. It was mad fun. But there was still a balance. Season 2 just felt kinda empty??
I feel like we needed a big bad or something I mean the Fae could have had a good story line if it was introduced sooner than it was and they just became creatures you could buy stuff from (the banner was cool though)
Skeletron almost did that though, even if was exclusively for the final showdown in Joey's episode. Otherwise Skeletron was never involved in other people's plotline
I loved Season 2 because I love this group of people. But outside of that, I had very little reason to care about the characters and storylines. Season 1 made me care. Season 1 meant the world to me.

Don't get me wrong but i didn't enjoy season 2 if it weren't for sertain players like lizzy kat gem Scott i wouldn't have continued it i still can't believe i didn't enjoy joels jimmy fwhip episodes as much as before and as someone who watched everyone's episodes fully in season 1 and 2 i did not like season two and i missed pearl being in the server and then the hermits all came with and it felt likr not bad but not good but i didn't like season 1 ending as it was sad but i definitely enjoyed it and loved how the drama built up and everything but in season two oh boy oh boy was it messy like i didn't even realise it was the last episode of for most the players like kat gem fwhip and they suddenly said it was a happy ending but it had nothing of what i expected do not get me wrong i love empires so much but if someone says season 1 one is overrated i would disagree it's perfectly rated i love the drma everything but if someone says season 2 is overrated I'm in the boat with them it feels like that

I won’t lie, Season 2 was really boring in my opinion. The most interesting part was when all the emperors gathered at the rift for the festival. I felt like other than that no one did anything together. Some of my favorite parts of season 1 was when Xornoth was tormenting Joey and Shelby at Joey’s base, or when Jimmy and Sausage had the borders war. Season 2 didn’t really have anything like that. Everyone picked the place to build their empire and that was that. No one talked to each other.

I fell in love with the Empire's series because of Xornoth and the storyline there. While there isn't anything wrong with a bunch of friends building a giant server together, how is that any different from hermitcraft or any of the other series' out there? There are dozens of people doing that. Empires SMP Season 2 was just... boring for me. I lost complete interest like five episodes in. It was essentially the same old 'new world, build the same stuff but with a different aesthetic!' Outsiders SMP and Empires both were the most interesting minecraft videos out there for me because there was more than just building and magical fun times. It wasn't the standard build iron farms there, a village breeder here, or even a cute little farm tucked away in the corner. We have enough of the boring old minecraft adventures out there! If I were Scott, I'd seriously consider asking those of my friends who were interested if they'd want to make a storyline orientated series together. Then I'd either revive or completely redo the whole thing with Xornoth, or, if they want to separate from that, make up a new villain all together.
I'm just putting it out their (cause I'm opinionated) but I think it was the cottagecore trio like Gem, Katherine and shubble that didn't want anything to do with Xornoth in season two potentially even the ones we never heard much from like Pearl or Pix

Something inside me says that s1 of empires has more fantasy, better builds, and more lore. S2 didn’t have the same feeling season 1 had.
