    I own a 23 limited and have consumed just about every video about the car that I can find, but you still managed to show something that I didn't know. I know about the remote pull forward and back, but I had no idea it would turn! I thought it was always straight.

      So how is it in echo mode with the preconditioning battery software already on it. Is it sluggish in echo mode. If so it’s intentional not a problem with our updates.

    I really enjoy your videos as I have a 2023 limited myself. A few things I have found while reading the manual:
    1) there is a auto lock feature however it only works when you walk up to the car and don't open any door, then it will lock after a few seconds. Just wont work once you open a door.
    2) the 2023 model got rid of the digital rearview mirror that the 2022 models had.
    3) also reading the manual you can press the voice command button and say "open charge door" and it will open the charge door. I found this handy since there is not really a charge door release inside like a gas tank. That way by time you walk around to plug it in its open already.

    I'm from Kingston Ontario and drove to Toronto to get mine, a 2022 Preferred with Ultimate trim. I don't know why the naming convention is different here but basically it's the same as Limited in the US as you and many of your subscribers already know. Really, really glad I opted for the fully loaded model. I LOVE MY CAR!!!!

    • @martelloalley7955
      @martelloalley7955 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW the video on Tesla Taps was informative. I opted for the larger, not the compact version. I keep it in my "frunk" along with my OEM wipers. I drive to the Bader Centre at Queen's University, park the car in the evening, connect to the Tesla level 2 charging station, and walk back home. My house is a five minute walk from there. I pick my car up a few hours later. They have two free Tesla and two free J1772 chargers but I use the Teslas because they are faster.

    Excellent video. Unfortunately I live in Ontario Canada and my Ultimate order in March 2022 hasn’t even left the dealership as Hyundai portal is closed. 2-3 years wait. So frustrating. Im glad I got the limited. I don’t think I’d go for the car in any other spec. If it had the tech Tesla had it wouldn’t even be a competition but I find the tech/infotainment in this car severely lacking compared to Tesla and even Rivian now and it bothers me being more of a tech person than a car person

    • @zeeshankhaliq9179
      @zeeshankhaliq9179 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree about the tech as a tech person myself. Since it is mostly software, I really hope Hyundai will catch up. Ultimately for me, the car comes first before the tech and I am glad I didn’t choose a Tesla. I just drove a relative’s Model X for the first time since getting my Ioniq 5 and it felt like with the Model X, I had to be tugging at the wheel to do proper turns.

    • @sartajsingh929
      @sartajsingh929 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s very true. Tesla has by far the worst driving assist too. The only time it actually stayed on was when I was wiggling the steering wheel the whole time for 2 hours. Otherwise it keeps dangerously stopping to give me control or just denies to help. Hyundai on the other hand is amazing and haven’t seen any other manufacturer match it’s smart features.

    Corbin, great review as usual. I am about to receive my 2023 Limited in about a month. I have watched ALL your content as well as many less useful reviews. I particularly appreciate your candor on accessory and other optional product reviews. I am putting together a list of accessories to acquire, everything from home charging EVSE to car wax and floor mats. One item I would ask you to confirm. The retractable cargo cover is not listed on the vehicle window sticker. It was sent to me today. But at the end of the video above you note it as a standard feature. I cant believe Hyundai would miss noting this item, when they note smaller items like the charging port applique... Thanks for all your help.!

    To add to your differences: built in garage door opener. In Canada the lower trims don’t have it 😬
    Also, just to be clear, the Ultimate or Limited actually remembers the drivers seat position and the others don’t. I hated that in my SEL I had to reset my seat setting when driving after my wife. She hates too.

    Can't stop wanting this car (driving a 2021 Santa Fe Calligraphy) which has almost every feature (not EV specific) in the IONIQ5: auto seat move when engine is off, side shades, HUD, adjustable acceleration on cruise control resume, etc. A truly incredible car.
    That said, I WANT AN IONIQ5!!! Just waiting for them to actually be available for sale and hoping the tax credit situation will change as my Santa Fe was $43K and this puppy is $58K. That is, along with lease/finance rates a big step up in cost.

    Good review. I own a limited 22 with preconditioning in it. Unfortunately now that we have colder weather, I have to say the preconditioning S-cks. I was charging it at a station earlier this week (and I had preconditioning on for 30 minutes) and my charging speed was 45kw. Another Ioniq 5 pulled next to me. He did not set preconditioning and he started at about 70kw and moved to over 100kw in probably a minute. So some are better than others. I have an appointment for Wednesday to have the update installed. They have it listed as a recall by Hyundai America. I will let you know how it works out. On the Ioniq Forum site it has been said that the update unfortunately effects the eco negatively. Hyundai has admitted the problem so expect another update to address that. Btw there are no 350 charges anywhere near my home.
    Thanks for listening.
    I see you drove to Jersey to do this update. I live in northern NJ.

    Great video! I didn’t realize there was more to it. I have the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited Trim. Great vehicle. I’ve had it since November 4. I’m still trying to figure out the other features. Thanks to you. I picked up a few things about this vehicle. Still learning about the vehicle. Odometer just turned over 1300 miles. Can’t wait to take this on a long trip. Waiting for the weather to break soon. I do travel from Baltimore to New York often. It does have enough range to make it to my destination. Thanks to the rapid charging speed, I should make it to New York the same amount of time as my conventional gas vehicle takes. Maybe about 10 minutes longer. It’s fun to drive!!! Thanks again IONIQ GUY !!!!!

      @thetom2video Hi5 from a fellow Baltimorean! I've done the trip to NY three times now. No problem making it there without needing to stop to charge if you start at 100% and it isn't too freezing. You'll probably want to stop at the New Brunswick Walmart though if you're nervous and want some wiggle room to get into NY and back.

    • @TheTom2video

      aishelot: I go to Brooklyn via Goethals bridge through Staten Island then to Brooklyn. I would get off at exit 13a Elizabeth, New Jersey and go to the Mills Mall to charge up at the electrify America station. It’s only 1 exit up from where I normally get off. I’m about less than 20 miles to my destination in Brooklyn. I will make that trip when the weather breaks. Even if I go straight to my destination with 100% charged, I will still have about 40 miles to spare. This is in the event if the Electricity America charging stations are full or some units out of order.

      2+ years is insane. Really, in 2 years entire lifes can change. Family can become bigger or -hopefully not smaller and this big car all for a sudden doesnt fit your lifestyle any more. Energy crisis, sudden unemployment, other crisis. Parts shortages etc. Etc... I don't know, it is a gamble... at least if you have no acceptable opt out of your contract. When I was ordering my Ioniq 5, the only option to withdraw would have been paying 10% of the the total price, which is a common practise around here. I waited 10 month. Totally worth the wait though.

      I'm in BC and also ordered that trim (and colour!) back in March. My dealership only has a wild guess as to when it's arriving - they think because it's the Ultimate trim in the more unusual colour I might get it a bit faster than other people in this area who ordered around the same time, but it's all guesswork. I took a second test drive at another dealer back in August and they were saying 2+ years. Really frustrating how few cars have been allotted to Canada. But still can't see any other EV that I like as much, so I continue to wait.

      I bought an SEL last summer while waiting for a limited which I'm finally getting next month.
      It's a catch-22 for us because if prices go down so do our residual values.

    Is the seat memory linked to the key fob so it’ll move the seat forward for my wife or move the seat back for me, when unlocking? She’s tiny so I can’t get in the car with the seat moved up for her. Waiting for the seat to slide back enough to get in while it’s pouring and the door and seat is getting drenched isn’t much fun, and the key fob pairing is something I’ve loved about BMW’s seat memory.

    • @readyplayer2
      @readyplayer2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just got to the slide back feature for easier egress / ingress, which isn’t quite as good but does mean no standing in the rain. Nice!

    • @Trotter152
      @Trotter152 ปีที่แล้ว

      No its not paired to the fob but there is arr two buttons on the driver's door that can be set to each driver. I have a US spec 22 AWD Limited.

    • @readyplayer2
      @readyplayer2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trotter152 Thanks Ben. I keep wishing the key fob pairing to seat / mirror memory will trickle down from luxury brands, but no dice for most brands so far (some googling shows that at least some Subaru models have it). We had a used 2000 BMW 328i sedan a number of years ago, and it was one of my favorite features with the car. If you frequently switch driving duties with your spouse, it's magical. It's very much not magical to unlock, then have to press a button and wait for the adjustments to complete like some kind of medieval peasant. ;)

      I really like the limited trim with all the little extras. I hate how they pulled the front lighting system from the SEL. I'm on the fence where I am with what my dealer is going to do with my car and what to get next. I guess it all depends how long things take with the issues and resolutions. Great video and I love the addition of the drone shot at the end there. Would love to see more of that! Thanks again!

    For the Limited Trim in 2022 or 2023, can the rear or side camera views be open in the console while driving? In the SEL trim, rear camera view turns off after hitting a certain speed.

    • @TheIoniqGuy

  • @valueofnothing2487
    @valueofnothing2487 ปีที่แล้ว

    The question is how much extra do you pay to get the equivalent in a Tesla with a tax credit. Who cares about headrests?
    So you are paying 41k for (se trim) less range and horsepower that you get from a Tesla for 31k - assuming full tax credits. Plus, Tesla has a better charging network - although the Ionic might be able to use that next year.
    Hyundai also has more repair stations - there are still no Tesla repair stations in MT, Wyoming, ND, SD.
    Have no idea what the other trims are.
    I hope Hyundai stays in business and remains competitive because the idea of driving my tablet to work I find unappealing. But I don't know if it's worth 9k.

In March 2023 they let me know that the colour of my car (Phantom Black) is no longer available and instead they offer "Abyss Black". They halted production of my car until they heard back from me if the new colour of black was acceptable. My car will now be arriving late August 2023.
