The Knicks Won the OG Anunoby Trade

  • The Knicks are now 2-0 since trading for OG Anunoby. But some Knicks fans and a lot of the NBA community are saying the team got fleeced. All because they let RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley go. I think that's INSANE because the Knicks put themselves a step closer to being a championship team with this trade.

The trade wasn't centered around RJ from a raptors perspective it was centered around Quickley. Both teams won the trade so far.

Raptors fan here. Like others, I agree this was a win-win. Watching the Raptors play, Quickley is really going to thrive being a starter (like the upside is definitely there) But Knicks fans are going to LOVE OG as he continues to fit within the system. It's a win-win even if Quickley becomes an all-star because with the Rose connections, you're going to resign OG long-term AND those first round picks you've saved from this deal you can leverage into a shooter. The Knicks definitely didn't get fleeced - OG is a lot more than just a great defender & you'll see it.

    • @FastbreakFrequency

I think Raptors win this trade too, regardless of RJ’s inconsistency. IQ is the real prize for them. The Knicks keeping their picks tells me they want a first option though, not necessarily a shooter. Though the top two rumored targets (Donovan and KAT) are elite shooters

trade looks good right now for the knicks, although i will say that Precious is still the same player this year than he was in year 1 with my Heat, i just don't think he has the basketball IQ to become a good player sadly. He looked like an interesting prospect coming out of Memphis but he just hasn't shown any sort of breakthrough and he's already 24 years old, so i doubt it will ever happen. i think Quickley was probably the best player to go to Toronto though not RJ, i'm interested to see what he can do now that it seems he'll be the starter and get over 30 mins a game there for the first time in his career.

it depends on what toronto expects from iq. i can't see iq as a starting pg for a winning young nba team. he's to erratic imo. i like iq off the ball and off the bench. rj has to have the ball to be effective but he's offensively limited. u can't depend on them nightly for scoring. iq came off the bench for us. pls don't forget that. that's extremely important. rj was playing his way to bench with us. og fits. that's all we wanted and needed. i don't think that's understood enough.

Not only are they not the winner, it's not even close. Yes. RJ is CURRENTLY worse than OG and will ALWAYS be worse than OG defensively but OG is a generational defender. But the trade wasn't OG for RJ... it was OG(and scraps) for RJ, QUICKLY!!! AND DETROIT'S second round pick(likely 31's over all) for one of the best drafting teams in the NBA. Now. About RJ being worse than OG... Yes. He's somewhat worse RIGHT NOW, but the Raptor's have one of the best development programs in the NBA AND he's THREE if not FOUR years behind OG in age for time to develop. While he will never be the defender that OG is, because, let's face it, almost no one will ever be the defender OG is. There's no reason to believe RJ can't or won't be a vastly superior offensive talent and a perfectly serviceable defender. Also, let's not forget... it's entirely possible Masai and OG are playing four dimensional chess here and OG will just re-sign with the Raptor's in the off-season. Though, that's a long shot, but, it's not entirely unforeseeable. He loves the team, loves the city, will get the bag, and... most importantly, got more usage then he's getting with the Nick's. OG wants a more impactful roll in the offense. And no team(other than non play-off teams) can offer the place with-in the offense that the Raptor's can.

Furthermore, the only relevant and meaningful discussion is, in fact, that you are currently safe and warm inside your car irrespective of the looming specter of a very obvious and impending brick wall?
