Whoa! I didn’t even know there was an ending to this game. I have never saw that woman waving the checkered flag when you complete the race. I don’t know anything really, because I was not very good at this game. I could only get past the Prepare to Qualify round, & do a little bit of the first race before time out appear. I have to say that was very interesting to see. And I am glad to witness that ending. Nice TAS, kind of fascinating to look at.
Been waiting for someone to do one of these. Looks like there is room for improvement. On a hacked rom version with no cars I got a lap time of 51.99. Cool seeing you straddle the curves so well. Look me up I'd like to discuss some things
I am also sure that there is room for improvement. I just realized that I lost speed while overtaking the last car, so the last lap should be 52:70, total 214:16, but it do not improve the score. I will upload a new video if I improve more. Improving the TAS is a bit of a long process since you have to edit the rest of the race to adjust mainly for traffic. Thankfully I use my TAS editor with a modified MAME 211, not MAME-RR. I read your posts on donkeykongforum, and I must say that you know this game much more than I do, good job.
Here is a link to the modified rom to make it so no cars are on the road. This only works on the polpos1/2 roms. drive.google.com/open?id=1AwwLUicRdt1A1hD5ZX_BvrLazBgoNMBn This way you can test anything you want and not worry about cars. Should be able to get a race time in the 212.xx range. Lap times should be able to be in the 51.9x range or better.
@@Prog61 Wonder if you could do a TAS with the no cars rom and see how fast of a lap you can get on the 2nd lap. These TAS runs you are doing are awesome and I enjoy how you don't just play, you have fun and do some amazing and entertaining stuff.
My high using the plug and play Namco hand held console from 2004 is 63,340. I will have to try your cut-into-lawn technique on some of the corners. Interesting. My best qualifying lap is 54.something. 55:00 is great and hard to achieve. Only broke into 54:00 area once. I'm trying to find Namco 5 in 1 console without them being glitchy. It's been some 25 years so it's hard to find one. Ebay sellers don't test them prior to mailing them. How did you play this, on your computer? Any ideas on where to play this and what controller to use?
For all the TAS on my channel, I use an editor to control the state of all inputs (steering wheel or button or else) for each frame (1/60 of a second). So, in the video, it's not me that is playing but a kind of robot.

Flawless race! Hats off to the TAS for beating the current world record.

Perhaps you do great in Pole Position 2 Arcade.

Why does this game running on MAME earn slightly higher than 10000 points per lap? Original hardware is a flat 10000 per lap.
Almost perfect. What do you mean by "tool assisted"? Cheers.

That makes sense. Some of your moves were beyond human. Also, car seems to have a lot of control. @@Prog61
