A five member sibling band originally from CA but now based in GA. "Liliac" means "Bat" in Romanian, native language of their parents, Florin and Nineta Cristea, both first generation immigrants to the US who met in the US. Melody Cristea (born December 27, 2001) - vocals, bass, flute, Samuel Cristea (born March 21, 1999) - lead guitar, backing vocals, Abigail Cristea (born February 24, 2000) - drums, Ethan Cristea (born August 24, 2006) - bass, additional rhythm guitar, Justin Cristea (born October 27, 2007) - keyboard. They started busking on Sundays on Santa Monica Pier. They are proudly independent. Florin is their manager and producer, whilst Nineta handles their merchandise. They have covered many well known metal classics but also have released albums of their own material. They tour the US every year. And they have a dedicated base of "Fangs". Their fans call themselves Fangs and members of the Liliac Fang Gang. The band is also renowned for their tribute covers some of which are better than the originals, examples being Whitestripes SEVEN NATION ARMY, Nirvana's SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT, Megadeath's SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION plus many more. Their most played video is their tribute cover of Metallica’s ENTER SANDMAN with over 12 million views followed by Black Sabbath's CRAZY TRAIN with 11million. They are not just another cover band, they have written 3 albums of original songs and are working on the next one. @@DaneBramageROCKSVirgil did a great job of breaking that down. Just to add on, Justin has started to learn drums as well, and Aby is really good on... wait for it... the accordion! Before Justin and Ethan were old enough (keeping in mind that "old enough" for Justin was like 8 or 9), Sam, Aby, and Melody performed together as The Cristeas with Sam doing most of the lead vocals and Melody accompanying him while Aby played the accordion. They stuck to mostly pop stuff, but as Mel's voice started to mature it became clear who'd be singing lead from there on and that they'd be able to do the metal stuff they were being raised on. Sam and Mel did just do a duet called Somber Cry and he still has a pretty darned good voice.

Also, some background information. The reason the fans are called Fangs is because the band plays what they call "Vamp Metal". The reason is said, is because their dad grew up close to Transylvania one hour to Dracula's Castel.
I love to see new people discover my favorite band: great reaction! I first found them in early 2021, soon after they released their second album, Queen of Hearts, and absolutely fell in love with their music. I have seen them perform live 5 times since and they keep getting better. Carousel is my favorite song and video of theirs so far, but there are so many other great ones to check out. Some suggestions: Not Afraid (extended version), Nothing, Sail Away, Madness, Mars (live in Cummins Georgia); all great originals. Some great covers include Heaven and Hell, Seven Nation Army, Carol of the Bells (if it is not too late for a Christmas Carol). But really anything they do is amazing. You noticed that Melody is a painter in addition to being incredible vocalist and musician. When I first found Liliac, she still had time to take requests for custom painted and autographed guitars on their website and I was able to get my all time favorite piece of music memorabilia: a guitar with a custom painting of my dog holding a mic in her mouth in front of a full moon with 5 bats (Liliaci) flying around her. . Fun fact, everyone in the video is a Liliac Fang. ( Fangs are what Liliac fans are called). They have so many amazing songs. If you ever get a chance to see them live I highly recommend it.
I always love watching a Liliac newbie's first reaction. Welcome to the rabbit hole. Falling down it won't hurt, I promise! They are all siblings, totally independent, and I really like Carousel, but it barely scratches the surface, especially for Melody's vocals and Sam's guitar chops. If you're impressed by their ages here, you need to look at some of the earliest covers (my suggestions would be Crazy Train, Enter Sandman, Holy Diver, I Hate Myself For Loving You, and The Trooper). Crazy Train currently has around 11 million views. Enter Sandman is at 13 million. Holy Diver comes in at 7.1 million. The Trooper and I Hate Myself For Loving You are ONLY at 3.3 million and 2.1 million respectively. If you're a Janis Joplin fan at all, you also owe it to yourself to watch their live version of Piece of My Heart (1.2 million views). From there you can just move along the timeline and watch them go from "Holy crap, they're good" to "WTF did I just watch!?!?". After a little while you'll start to run into some of their amazing originals, but they continue to mix in awesome covers as well (and the wide range they cover is amazing). I'll add more to the list if you want, but I think once you start watching you'll just keep on going without my help. For reasons I'm sure a lot of folks will share, they called their style vamp metal and their fans are called fangs, so welcome to the fang gang. Rock on and rock hard.

Highly recommend a couple of live vids... Master of Puppets w/Aiden Fisher; Mars (original) live in Cumming Ga (4 yrs old now), Vertigo (live). Gotta check out some Dio covers - Heaven and Hell is the most recent and it is impressive! My fave is The Last in Line - Dio's wife requested Liliac do this for his cancer fund. You opened up a huge rabbit hole! I've seen them live twice, and will travel to see them again. So far, mostly small venues - they deserve so much more. Melody (deservedly) gets a ton of kudos because of her awesome voice, but all of them are solid musicians and the band is so TIGHT. Sam is one of the best shredders I've ever seen, and versitile. Abby is rock steady, and makes it look too easy at times - check out the Master of Puppets vid. Ethan and Justin are both solid. Ethan started on Rhythm Guitar and Melody played bass. Check out The Trooper and/or Enter Sandman.... Other originals - Dear Father, Mystery, Madness - so many more.

I absolutely love Halestorm, I've seen them 4 times in Manchester UK, the first time they were relatively unknown and supported Shinedown and Alter Bridge who were co headlining. It was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. And yes, Melody definitely has some Lzzy Hale vibe going on... 🤘🤘
You might want to check out Mars (live in Cumming, GA) next, it starts out with an amazing guitar solo by Sam. It’s one of their earlier originals. Other amazing live performances are Not Afraid (extended version) or Master of Puppets, live featuring Aiden Fisher. Man, for a new sub I'm commenting a lot on this one. Your mention of Mel's artwork made me think of the fact that they did this video for under $6,000, largely because Mel and Aby did almost all the makeup, Papa Liliac did the production, Sam did the editing, and almost all of the on-screen extras and a lot of the "gopher" types were fang volunteers. This sort of group effort is the norm for these guys.

Liliac has put out 3 albums of cover/tribute songs olus a 6 song EP "Chain Of Thorns" and a 13 song LP "Queen Of Hearts" plus their new album Madness". It depends on hiw you wanna start with them if you wanna go all the way back to when they went by "The Cristeas" when they did a cover of "Stay" where Melody sings lead and Sam does backing vocals or when they did the song "Say Something " another cover where Sam sings Lead and Melody dies backing vocals both songs are on the "Cristeas " youtube page they were very young then Melody was probably around 11 and Sam was around 14 and just work your way up from there?
Yeah I honestly will kind of bounce and I do follow what most people suggest as well. So I'll typically go to the most requested, then start to dig back into their history and I will always jump on new releases. I'm really excited for this journey, so far the fan base has been one of my favorites and this is a good group of people.

I don't think you will find a cover or original song that you do not like. They are awesome. Melody is capable of operatic singing (Dear Father), throat singing, probably the wrong name for it (Vertigo Live), deep growl screams and high screams (Carousel, Madness, & Not Afraid extended). She has also, IMHO, perfectly captured the voices of Janis Joplin, Joan Jett, and Dio (although a female version of DIo) Dio is her idol. While they have done a lot of cover songs, I wouldn't call the a cover band anymore. They do drop occasion new ones of songs they enjoy and want to do. Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell is the newest, other than a version of Carol of the Bells. Welcome to Liliac. 😀

Also, some background information. The reason the fans are called Fangs is because the band plays what they call "Vamp Metal". The reason is said, is because their dad grew up close to Transylvania one hour to Dracula's Castel.

I love to see new people discover my favorite band: great reaction! I first found them in early 2021, soon after they released their second album, Queen of Hearts, and absolutely fell in love with their music. I have seen them perform live 5 times since and they keep getting better.
Carousel is my favorite song and video of theirs so far, but there are so many other great ones to check out. Some suggestions: Not Afraid (extended version), Nothing, Sail Away, Madness, Mars (live in Cummins Georgia); all great originals. Some great covers include Heaven and Hell, Seven Nation Army, Carol of the Bells (if it is not too late for a Christmas Carol). But really anything they do is amazing.
You noticed that Melody is a painter in addition to being incredible vocalist and musician. When I first found Liliac, she still had time to take requests for custom painted and autographed guitars on their website and I was able to get my all time favorite piece of music memorabilia: a guitar with a custom painting of my dog holding a mic in her mouth in front of a full moon with 5 bats (Liliaci) flying around her. .

I always love watching a Liliac newbie's first reaction. Welcome to the rabbit hole. Falling down it won't hurt, I promise!
They are all siblings, totally independent, and I really like Carousel, but it barely scratches the surface, especially for Melody's vocals and Sam's guitar chops. If you're impressed by their ages here, you need to look at some of the earliest covers (my suggestions would be Crazy Train, Enter Sandman, Holy Diver, I Hate Myself For Loving You, and The Trooper). Crazy Train currently has around 11 million views. Enter Sandman is at 13 million. Holy Diver comes in at 7.1 million. The Trooper and I Hate Myself For Loving You are ONLY at 3.3 million and 2.1 million respectively. If you're a Janis Joplin fan at all, you also owe it to yourself to watch their live version of Piece of My Heart (1.2 million views).
From there you can just move along the timeline and watch them go from "Holy crap, they're good" to "WTF did I just watch!?!?". After a little while you'll start to run into some of their amazing originals, but they continue to mix in awesome covers as well (and the wide range they cover is amazing). I'll add more to the list if you want, but I think once you start watching you'll just keep on going without my help. For reasons I'm sure a lot of folks will share, they called their style vamp metal and their fans are called fangs, so welcome to the fang gang. Rock on and rock hard.

Highly recommend a couple of live vids... Master of Puppets w/Aiden Fisher; Mars (original) live in Cumming Ga (4 yrs old now), Vertigo (live). Gotta check out some Dio covers - Heaven and Hell is the most recent and it is impressive! My fave is The Last in Line - Dio's wife requested Liliac do this for his cancer fund. You opened up a huge rabbit hole! I've seen them live twice, and will travel to see them again. So far, mostly small venues - they deserve so much more. Melody (deservedly) gets a ton of kudos because of her awesome voice, but all of them are solid musicians and the band is so TIGHT. Sam is one of the best shredders I've ever seen, and versitile. Abby is rock steady, and makes it look too easy at times - check out the Master of Puppets vid. Ethan and Justin are both solid. Ethan started on Rhythm Guitar and Melody played bass. Check out The Trooper and/or Enter Sandman.... Other originals - Dear Father, Mystery, Madness - so many more.
Yeah Dio seems like a solid choice as well, being that this was one of Melody's biggest inspirations. I have a good amount to check out and I am pretty excited for it. Thanks so much for the recommendation, more to come!

I absolutely love Halestorm, I've seen them 4 times in Manchester UK, the first time they were relatively unknown and supported Shinedown and Alter Bridge who were co headlining. It was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. And yes, Melody definitely has some Lzzy Hale vibe going on... 🤘🤘

You might want to check out Mars (live in Cumming, GA) next, it starts out with an amazing guitar solo by Sam. It’s one of their earlier originals. Man, for a new sub I'm commenting a lot on this one. Your mention of Mel's artwork made me think of the fact that they did this video for under $6,000, largely because Mel and Aby did almost all the makeup, Papa Liliac did the production, Sam did the editing, and almost all of the on-screen extras and a lot of the "gopher" types were fang volunteers. This sort of group effort is the norm for these guys.

Nice so you've finally got round to discovering Liliac. They are brilliant, they have great songs of their own and they've also done lots of covers, that's how they started out. Melody has an amazing and unusual/unique voice. Next try Madness, or Crazy Nights. Or for covers try Holy Diver by Dio, Crazy Train by Ozzy, or Enter Sandman by Metallica.

Liliac has put out 3 albums of cover/tribute songs olus a 6 song EP "Chain Of Thorns" and a 13 song LP "Queen Of Hearts" plus their new album Madness". It depends on hiw you wanna start with them if you wanna go all the way back to when they went by "The Cristeas" when they did a cover of "Stay" where Melody sings lead and Sam does backing vocals or when they did the song "Say Something " another cover where Sam sings Lead and Melody dies backing vocals both songs are on the "Cristeas " youtube page they were very young then Melody was probably around 11 and Sam was around 14 and just work your way up from there?
Yeah I honestly will kind of bounce and I do follow what most people suggest as well. So I'll typically go to the most requested, then start to dig back into their history and I will always jump on new releases. I'm really excited for this journey, so far the fan base has been one of my favorites and this is a good group of people.

They are an independent band looking for as much publicity as they can get. They do all of their own videos. Papa Liliac does the filming and Sam does the editing.

I don't think you will find a cover or original song that you do not like. They are awesome. Melody is capable of operatic singing (Dear Father), throat singing, probably the wrong name for it (Vertigo Live), deep growl screams and high screams (Carousel, Madness, & Not Afraid extended). She has also, IMHO, perfectly captured the voices of Janis Joplin, Joan Jett, and Dio (although a female version of DIo) Dio is her idol. While they have done a lot of cover songs, I wouldn't call the a cover band anymore. They do drop occasion new ones of songs they enjoy and want to do. Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell is the newest, other than a version of Carol of the Bells. Welcome to Liliac. 😀
