@@AndrewMcKirdy could not agree more - way over rated and for sure did not deserve MOTM on Sunday over the real hero’s of the day - namely the pack especially the 2nd row and back row forwards - they were immense 👏🏴
That was the game of the weekend. Scotland look proper and I’ll be backing them in the six nations. Sua Ali’i was bound for that kind of injury. There are some hard men in Union and you need to bite off what you can chew. I’ve been to Scotland twice on holiday and nothing beats a whisky of the day and haggis for breakfast.
Jim is such a fan he really does gets carried away and it’s to be admired. I don’t see it unfortunately, and I think hes over hyping the Scottish backs I think Tuipolotou would be lucky to go ahead of Aki and Henshaw. Scotland are a good side but so frustrating when you think they’ll kick on they just don’t.
I just remember during the 2021 B&I tour in SA being nervous for the Boks because i was so unsure about how good the B&I team was going to be and I must admit being that it's next year for Australia, i am really nervous for the Wallabies😂😢
I've heard all this for a while now and we never seem to be able to actually produce when the time comes. We lost to Italy last year in a great game but how can we say we are winning the six nations when we can't get those wins
You've got Ireland at home at home in the 2nd round. Easterby's 2nd game in charge. If they lose to England in the first round at home Ireland could be nervy. A Triple crown is definitely doable. Last game of France v Scotland could be a classic. Scotland looked good against Oz.
@@richardwynne6596 Ireland don’t lose two games in a row; they lose to England, they’ll be more than wanting to make up for it. Also just a reminder, Ireland have won 10 in a row against Scotland including dumping them out of two WCs. So I’d keep your mouth shut if I were you.
I hope so its been a long time but france i think have the players and the strength in the scrum with numbers 9 and 10 whos game management is outstanding 🏴🇬🇧
Absolutely, yes, in a fever dream. And as a massive Scotland fan I inhabit that dreamland most of the time. Put it like this- winning probabilities. Here's mine: Italy, home- 0.8 Ireland, home- 0.3 England, away- 0.3 Wales, home- 0.8 France, away- 0.2 overall 1.15% chance
Yes, Scotland are the best team in the chasing pack. They're ahead of Argentina, Australia & England in that 5th-8th group. However, to win the Six Nations they'd still have to pull off two big upsets, beating France in Paris and beating Ireland. And just because England haven't been the best recently, Scotland would still have to beat them at Twickenham to win it. I'd still have Scotland as 3rd favourites for the 6N and we shouldn't be expecting them to win it just because they've beaten Australia in a home game
This is the best of a good Scotland squad that have been nearly there for a few years, Finn Russell is an amazing player, but can be shut down by the best teams. Looking at Irelands 6 nations fixtures, England at home first up could go either way with Irelands first game up v NZ in mind, Scotland at Murrayfield and France at the Aviva, hard to call a result in all those, Scotland last game away to France could be a tough gamefor the Scots.
It’s easy to love this Scotland side, with a minor exception for the arrogance of Russell (with respect for his great skills and ability), but perhaps I am biased as a South African 😂… For me, watching Scotland at the moment is the best thing after watching the springboks. Such wonderfully precise and technical rugby at the breakdown, complemented by a wonderful backline that has the excitement of the pacific island nations of the early 2000’s. Love Scotland rugby at the moment!
Scotland (fairly) focus on the here and now, none of this ‘building’ crap, and should peak relative to other teams this coming year, given their age profile and good number of caps and time together. Should be a great 6N! Conversely - BBC article about picking Lions based on stats, seven of them were from Scotland and four of those were actually SH players. Sid what it says about Scotland, what does that say about B&I?!
pls don't, we have proven time and time again we haven't got it in the big moments against the better teams. best we can hope for is maybe being in the hunt on the final day, which we never have been. France clear favorites for the 6N imo.
Scots did well but 1st try was offside, and only got ahead in the game after Oz backline was reshuffled after injured guy went off, and winger played 13 with no experience.
I’m a rugby and football fan I play and attend rugby matches(Glasgow warriors) and I also attend football games and I see the same issues in Scotland national rugby team as I do the football team is inconsistency the rugby team is definitely good enough to win the six nations however you just don’t know which team will turn up this team and the past couple of years prior have been our best chances to win the six nations if we don’t win it in the next 4 years I believe we might never win it
As a Scot, I don’t think we will win the six nations anytime soon. I’m happy with our recent form but when the time comes to deliver, we don’t. We always step up against England but facing the likes of Ireland and France we don’t stand up. If we can be a consistent team and turn up then we might have a chance.
People always say about stepping up against france, Scotland are the team to have most consistently gotten results against Galtiers France, it’s Ireland we never really show up against
As a Scot, I get nervous when Scotland are bigged up at all. I'm not sure Jim can totally see the wood for the trees (more living in hope than anything). Him forgetting about the last Italy result was poor (for a so-called expert pundit). I reckon Andy's speaking more sense about the reality of the situation.
Last Lions tour: DVM, Russell, Fagerson, Harris, Price, Sutherland. That's just off the top of my head. What other Scot am I missing? Hoag. Plenty of Scots last tour.
Scotland are evidently moving from a side with a few heros to a strong Team that will now compete seriously for the 6 Nations. We may have lost the last 11 games against Ireland however we have also overcome multiple historical losses against Wales and England and France and are now demonstrating strength in most aspects of our game. The game against Ausy was not perfect and the Team needs to work on those weaknesses. Our time is coming up fast so talking ourselves down achieves nothing. We can still rise now and be the nation again! Comeon Scotland, your time has come and we, your fans believe in you.
Why is England always in transition? Eddie Jones always said we are building a team, and Borthwick said we always have a young team in transition. Transition!!!!!!!!!!!
As an irish fan, I think this is probably scotlands best chance to heat ireland in the 6 nations. I'd still be extremely doubtful that scotland can do enough across the whole tournament to win the 6 nations. The big problem is still the pack and especially the tight 5. Still feel there is a soft underbelly that can be got at.
This 6 nations is absolutely our last shot for some real history. Ireland at home is hhhuuuugggeee! Then try and steal a win at Twickenham, because we know how hard that is, then it's all or nothing in Paris. No offence to Italy or Wales, but if next year is our year, we have to looking for a very strong and consistent 6 nations
It must be Scotlands year for the 6 nations. Beating Fiji 57-17 and then the win against Australia shows they have the talent. Ireland seems to be your problem team. Good luck lads
France look amazing having beaten the All Blacks, England have improved slightly, Ireland are still top two or three in the world. I can’t see us beating them all.
I have to agree with you. As an irish fan, I think we are in transition slightly. And there are absolutely superb players coming through. This is Scotlands'best ever chance to win a 6 nations. Best of luck 👍
Potentially, Scotland look good... Ireland aren't at their peak anymore, but they're still a hell of a side. And France seem to be coming back into form with the return of King Dupont. I'd say that France are the form team of the northern hemisphere right now. Scotland would have to beat them both, and also beat England at Twickenham!
There seems to be this perpetual narrative since 2019 that Ireland have peaked. It was certainly true in 2019, but I think it was more down to the limited game was cracked. Anyway, we, Ireland have a load of players coming in. True, that they need more game time, but most of them have decent experience with the provinces. And most of the soon to be retiring players haven't been first on the team sheet for a while now. So, I'm not quite buying that narrative that we've peaked, poor performances against NZ and Argentina could easily be put down to rustiness, not hitting the ground running, dip, blip or whatever. I'm not trying to big us up or knock Scotland's chances, I just wouldn't be basing my chances too much on relying or hoping for other teams to be on the decline, no matter which team you support.
You'll never have a better chance of beating an Irish team in transition. You better had, because you won't do it for the next ten years at least with some of the young players we have coming through. I'm nervous for this year so, if it's not to be, I'd prefer it was Scotland. No doubt you'll find a way to blow it! 🤣 Best of luck anyway. 🇮🇪
Its great that all the Brits are showing support for Scotland, but despite being the most entertaing team in the 6 nations, their defensive frailties will let them down! A bit like Ang Postecoglus Spurs!
I WISH SPOTIFY HAD A COMMENT SECTION AKA COMMUNITY BANTER, adding community to the experience of Pod Pod and lesser pods when whirled on Spotify would really add to it...make it an optional add on for Spotify contributors maybe, as Spotify evolves offering it shoukd evolve the platform but like isnt your job BUT listening to Pod Pod Pod and not being able to make a comment and chip in takes away from the experience, puts POD POD POD at more of a distance (subjectively of course) ... I dont miss TH-cam Pod Pod Pod and the doggam ads, poor playability (close phone screen or etc. and shuts off) love having streamed without ads on Spotify, so dont get me wrong, Spotify good BUTTTTTT PLEASE ASK THEM TO ALLOW COMMENTS etc. Rugby banter in the comments boys, cone onnnn!!!!!

Nah mate Scotland are a good team to watch but y'all still need to step up in Big games, haven't scored against the Springboks in two games i think that should speak volumes
Scotland tend to flatter to deceive. When the pressure is really on, they generally under-perform. They had an opportunity to win at least 4 matches last year and blew it against France and Italy. They had to perform in at least one of the matches against Ireland and SA at the WC and botched both. I just don't trust them to deliver, but technically, they're a better side than England, Wales, and pretty close to France as results between them have shown.
Good progress in the Autumn Tests and it could be given a 8/10 based on being competitive with SA and winning the other tests. The measurement stick is still SA, NZ, Ireland and France. First up in the 6N is a huge task versus Italy. That is all Scotland should be concerned with in game terms as Italy will be targeting a 4th place finish this year. There is undoubtedly a good pool of players, but definitely a requirement for more strength in the front 5 in order to have 2 interchangeable XV’s. The SA ‘Bomb Squad’ is the proof.
Until Scotland get the forwards to match their exceptional backline they will always be a 50/50 side against the best in the world. Perfectly capable of winning on their day but equally capable of collapsing under pressure.
Of both Irish and Scottish parentage here, my loyalties are split 50/50 between Ireland and Scotland. I want to see these two winning every single game. Winning with style and lots of tries. Until the last ten minutes of an Ireland Scotland game (any/every Ireland Scotland game 😂), when I always reveal myself and come out as a fully committed card carrying dictatorial rabid Ireland fan! 🤣 🏴 🇮🇪 Hard to find two better teams to support.
Sorry to burst the bubble JIm, but it ain't happening. SCOTS have struggled against the Boks and Ireland / France have manage to go dick to dick with the Boks forwards. Ps Sione Tiupolotu banter on the field looks very provocative in the body language even though he is smiling.
Strange no-one is talking about Scotland's second team that humped Portugal, Scotland has more depth than any Northern Hemisphere team bar maybe France
Like this just doesn’t make sense where was this fabled depth against South Africa ever Ireland the last eleven times we played you even Italy last year just doesn’t make sense mate
Scotland needs to front up in the scrums and physically otherwise. SA can have a "decent" game and just physically dent when things arw not going well.
I disagree about no one coming through. Douglas and Lafferty are outstanding prospects. The house elf and Williamson have barely scratched the surface on their careers so far as well.
No, we’re not. We love to talk as if we are real challengers but we never back it up. I really don’t think we have the mental strength to win a Six Nations, and a lot of that has to do with Townsend. Franco Smith has made a Glasgow side with a lot of internationals a tough team both physically and mentally, Townsend has never achieved the mental toughness, and we certainly aren’t as mentally tough as say Ireland. John Barclay also made a really good point on Sunday, we lack real front row depth on the bench, guys who can come on and boss the latter parts of games.
Scotland have their work cut out against France in Paris. Assuming Scotland will beat England is also big talk. I think they might just do us but if England turn dip and stop picking favourites we have a better chance.
Scotland are fully capable of winning it and on paper have everything needed to do so,but for some inexplicable reason it doesn't happen, they over perform against England and then performance drops against ireland and france
I do need to ask the question about van der Merwe. Is he too stupid to be an elite winger? Just watch him against a team with a defensive structure. He might get you a try in broken play but the guy has no understanding of tactics.
Big Jim , history teaches one thing : As soon as scotland wins a game, we think we are unbeatable . Dangerous thinking , we need to keep our feet on the ground. Otherwise, we will get our arse slapped .
No. They’re not as good France, and probably not as good as Ireland. But I think the 6N is split into two halves now, with France, Ireland and Scotland in the top half, England slightly behind. This Year: 1. France 2. Ireland 3. Scotland 4. England 5. Italy 6. Wales
Scotland beat an Australia team who are still in transition yet Ireland who have had their worst Autumn internationals in years, playing poorly, without some of their best players still managed to beat Australia. The Scots got well beaten by over 15pts by South Africa but Ireland beat South Africa only a few months ago down in South Africa. The Scots pull off one or two significant wins here & there but they just don’t play with enough consistency. France beat New Zealand but Ireland lost to them so they’ll definitely be contenders. Ireland will be there or thereabouts again and England will no doubt be strong. Scotland could cause an upset but I just don’t see them winning it.
Jimbo you're a top bloke! you did a 12 hour round trip to be at matt "hambo" Hampsons birthday on saturday, but scotland ain't winning the six nations mate
In 2024, scotland played fijis 2nd team, a load of tier 2 nations. They beat a terrible english team in the spring. Got hammered by the Boks a few weeks ago and now after beating Australia they have a chance to win the six nations and beat Ireland and france. 😂😂 The Scottish people are lovely but their ideas of grandure about their mediocre rugby team is hilarious.
Scotland as usual getting ahead of themselves, Scotland let SA iff the hook so many times (even though they were completely outclassed)same story against Aus, they dont have the killer touch simple as they need to be putting up 4 wins on the trot next Spring to be taken seriously

Here's mine:
Italy, home- 0.8
Ireland, home- 0.3
England, away- 0.3
Wales, home- 0.8
France, away- 0.2
overall 1.15% chance
Jim, ever the optimist! Go Scotland, be that nation again🤍
I'd still have Scotland as 3rd favourites for the 6N and we shouldn't be expecting them to win it just because they've beaten Australia in a home game
...in which we weren't anywhere near a 10/10 game yet again
We have this conversation every year and sadly we tend to crash and burn every year .. the Irish we never seem to lay a glove on
As you say Jim. The Bench is not as strong as a lot of the very top teams. Fingers crossed we can sort that. 🏴
Squad depth upfront ?
As we say to youngsters who get big headed (tentative translation): " 3 hairs on your ass and you think you're a bear ? "
Who was the fourth sh player?
pls don't, we have proven time and time again we haven't got it in the big moments against the better teams. best we can hope for is maybe being in the hunt on the final day, which we never have been. France clear favorites for the 6N imo.
Scots did well but 1st try was offside, and only got ahead in the game after Oz backline was reshuffled after injured guy went off, and winger played 13 with no experience.
Well we could but we are kinda the Tottenham Hotspur of Rugby.
But if we turn up and a couple of other teams don't then definitely we could.
The tables have turned england need to step up against Scotland now.
People always say about stepping up against france, Scotland are the team to have most consistently gotten results against Galtiers France, it’s Ireland we never really show up against
Scotland nearly beat Ireland this year?
@ yes it does… no Ireland didn’t play well, but the score was still 17-13. That’s one score. They were the better team in the second half as well
@@portorportor8247 It definitely wasn't an easy win. 4 points in it.
I hope so but we always bottle it . The last 2 years we could have won it for the first time but I fear we have blown our chances
Why is England always in transition? Eddie Jones always said we are building a team, and Borthwick said we always have a young team in transition. Transition!!!!!!!!!!!
Transition is what you say when you lose, works every time, NZ have been in transition since 2015 😂
As an irish fan, I think this is probably scotlands best chance to heat ireland in the 6 nations.
Ritchie motm. Have you seen bbc Lions team based on autumn games?
half the team are scottish! brilliant
We're coming on leaps and bounds, especially in attack but I struggle to see us beating France and Ireland.
I think that we are ready now we have been growing into this competition and we will win the next six nations championship no dought 😊😊😊😊
It must be Scotlands year for the 6 nations. Beating Fiji 57-17 and then the win against Australia shows they have the talent. Ireland seems to be your problem team. Good luck lads
Even Alaster MacAlaster doesn't believe this
France look amazing having beaten the All Blacks, England have improved slightly, Ireland are still top two or three in the world. I can’t see us beating them all.
You mightn't have to beat them all to win the 6 nations.
@ that’s true, but it would help.
I have to agree with you. As an irish fan, I think we are in transition slightly. And there are absolutely superb players coming through. This is Scotlands'best ever chance to win a 6 nations. Best of luck 👍
Scotland have a good kicking game , better than most !!
OTB lads in Ireland will be seething over this Scotland talk. Could probably power Dublin with the rage.
Scotland are favourites for the 6 Nations, let's see if they can walk the walk when it counts.
As a Scot I can tell you this is not close to true. France and Ireland are clearly ahead.
Zero front row depth and how Matthews isn’t in front of the two on Saturday is beyond logic
Most recent ep Jim said "PRO-NOUN-SEE-AYSHUN" and I wanted to react BUTT then ever the 10 watching tbe line Goodie continued "PRO-NUN-SEE-AYSHUN"
MADE ME LOLLL.
😅
Nah mate Scotland are a good team to watch but y'all still need to step up in Big games, haven't scored against the Springboks in two games i think that should speak volumes
Yawn
Fagerson and Darge should be a shoe in against Australia.
Fagerson yes, Darge has some really strong competition
@ Fair point!
Yeah Scotland have the players and skills to win - Mentality is the problem.
When France are truly on form, they're well ahead of Scotland. They've won their last 3 games against NZ. Remind me again when Scotland last beat NZ?
Its because of this talking ourselves up (based on no recent history of success) that is exactly why we fail.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 funniest title I’ve read ever, what a funny bloke
Hard to find two better teams to support.
30 secs in goodey is sleeping haha. Heavy night?
They have outstanding southern hemisphere players
SH trying not to make everything about themselves challenge: failed
Oh shut up with this pish
Only 3 SH born players started for Scotland on Saturday and Blair Kinghorn got man of the match, Zander Fagerson was the 2nd best player so zip it🤫
Irelands 3 best players are from NZ
@@SAnd-pd1ou they're talking about Scotland bud 😅
Sorry to burst the bubble JIm, but it ain't happening. SCOTS have struggled against the Boks and Ireland / France have manage to go dick to dick with the Boks forwards. Ps Sione Tiupolotu banter on the field looks very provocative in the body language even though he is smiling.
Pick the best of Glasgow and Leinster for the lions.
Strange no-one is talking about Scotland's second team that humped Portugal, Scotland has more depth than any Northern Hemisphere team bar maybe France
Humped a bunch of semi pros
😂
@@GenoAtkins most of their players play in France - semi pros ?
Like this just doesn’t make sense where was this fabled depth against South Africa ever Ireland the last eleven times we played you even Italy last year just doesn’t make sense mate
Scotland needs to front up in the scrums and physically otherwise.
SA can have a "decent" game and just physically dent when things arw not going well.
We will shit the bed as we do every single year
I disagree about no one coming through. Douglas and Lafferty are outstanding prospects. The house elf and Williamson have barely scratched the surface on their careers so far as well.
Respectfully, the team against Scotland was not the same as against England.
Same old . Some decent wins but can’t put it all together in a competition
Scotland have their work cut out against France in Paris. Assuming Scotland will beat England is also big talk. I think they might just do us but if England turn dip and stop picking favourites we have a better chance.
I wouldn’t underestimate England they pushed South Africa to one point
Every year
Scotland are fully capable of winning it and on paper have everything needed to do so,but for some inexplicable reason it doesn't happen, they over perform against England and then performance drops against ireland and france
Winning the 6 nations doesn't matter... winning the WC doesn't matter.. the ONLY THING that matters is beating ENGERLUND 😂😂😂
It would be nice
We have shown promise and delivered nothing for years. Don't see us beating Fr or Ire. Be lovely tho!
The answer is no they don't back up big performances They will do the usual and just capitulate in six nations.
I do need to ask the question about van der Merwe. Is he too stupid to be an elite winger? Just watch him against a team with a defensive structure. He might get you a try in broken play but the guy has no understanding of tactics.
If Ireland trip up in the 6 nations I'll be cheering on Scotland
What on earth does your Australias, your Englands, your Irelands, your South Africas mean? Are they doubling up? Weird
Big Jim , history teaches one thing : As soon as scotland wins a game, we think we are unbeatable .
Dangerous thinking , we need to keep our feet on the ground. Otherwise, we will get our arse slapped .
Nah, France are going to beat everyone this year. We might maybe get second...I'd love to beat Ireland for once
As a supporter of the Auld Alliance but from the other country, I would love for you to beat Ireland in the 6N
Ireland are playing France in Dublin so Ireland will probably be favorites for that one.
No. They’re not as good France, and probably not as good as Ireland. But I think the 6N is split into two halves now, with France, Ireland and Scotland in the top half, England slightly behind. This Year:
1. France
2. Ireland
3. Scotland
4. England
5. Italy
Bayliss is 1 to watch in 6N
Of course they will win the 6 nations 🎉🎉🎉 why wouldn’t they ?? 😊
The Scottish people are lovely but their ideas of grandure about their mediocre rugby team is hilarious.
As a Scot I'm going to say no
What are you smoking Jim?😄
Scotland as usual getting ahead of themselves, Scotland let SA iff the hook so many times (even though they were completely outclassed)same story against Aus, they dont have the killer touch simple as they need to be putting up 4 wins on the trot next Spring to be taken seriously
