I can remember in the 1970’s if you arrived in the UK as an illegal person you were returned to your country of origin within 48 hours in most cases. Not necessarily. If your country has been ravaged by war but is currently relatively peaceful, but there are no employment opportunties (and often heavy western sanctions) then you may have to go somewhere else to find employment. In that case it's sometimes safer for family to seperate and the working age male leave to find work (the journey is dangerous).That wont be the case for every asylum seeker but its probably quite a familiar scenario for people from Afghanistan, Libya,Syria and Iraq (which seems to be a significant amount from these vids) and also all countries in which UK played in a role in the conlict.
