  • The Car Pro is behind the wheel of the four-door 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.
Jeep is one of the most recognizable vehicles on the road, from it’s 7-bar grill and round headlights, to the rear where the spare tire is exposed…you know at a glance it is a Jeep Wrangler.
This model has very comfortable leather seating, and like all Wranglers, everything inside is clean and well laid out. Unlike days past, you now get power windows and door locks, keyless entry, automatic headlights, tilt wheel with finger controls, and much more, all as standard equipment.
Its 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine puts out 285-horses and has a great reputation for overall quality and long-term durability. Our tester is equipped with the 5-speed automatic transmission.
We're getting right at 19 miles per gallon in mixed driving, which is OK considering this is one of the most capable off-road vehicles you can buy.
The suggested retail price on this Sahara package is $45,045 nicely equipped.

I love my 2014 Wrangler Sahara. My lease is up so I'll be turning my end soon. Mine drives great on the highway and I feel very safe in mine.

I have always loved the look of the Jeep and everytime it comes time to purchase a new vehicle, I always go to the dealer and take a new one for a test drive to see if maybe I will get one--and everytime when we get on the highway for the test drive and I get it up over 65 MPH, I feel like it is going to turn over or go off the road. It's just not a good highway vehicle, but a perfect vehicle for the incredibly bad street conditions in Los Angeles. You want nothing less than a Jeep here otherwise you will be replacing rims, tires and suspension regularly. The poor road condition in many places in the USA is a key reason folks are turning to SUV's and trucks and away from cars. BTW: The Wrangler Unlimited has the highest rear gate cargo clearance of any SUV at over 36 inches high!--I was able to put my road bicycle in straight up without turning it to the side at all. There are few other SUV's that you can do that and I have measured most at car shows year after year.

I have to wonder why no 8 speed auto. A 5 speed auto is anachronistic today. I think I'd go for the manual if I got one.

I agree. I am surprised it's only 5 speed. It's like going back 10 years or more in most modern vehicles. Perhaps there's a reason that we're not aware of.

i always hated driving these when we got them in, wind noise is horrific, tire noise is bad due to doors being paper thin, it drives like its top heavy and on a pogo stick, the interior has sharp pointed cheap plastic bits everywhere, and its under powered. over all bad product but people will eat it up because of the jeep badge.

I don't believe it's so much the Jeep badge (it's not as if it's a Mercedes or Bentley) as much as the Jeep can transform into a kick ass off road vehicle or a super cool full size convertible SUV. Nothing like it on the planet....and it has that "cool" factor.
