I am not that way. Just starting out and so far, trying to not sew my fingers together. This video gave me enough courage to replace the broken snaps on my cape! Again, Thank-you! Thanks! I'm teaching myself to hand sew and embroider like found on 1800's dresses and coats. So far, my fingers are still intact. You're right. My grandma was bad ass, but she didn't know it. She could just look at a coat in the windows of say, Filene’s, Newmark's or Jordan Marsh. Study it carefully. Go home and copy the coat exactly without a pattern. Holy Mother Of Puppies! WAWAK ROCKS! For some Brain-Fart reason, the nursing home laundry people had removed all the snaps and replaced them with Velcro. Needless to say I was mad as hell! :)

The best hammer for striking a punch is a Ball peen hammer. They come in different oz so the weight will give you more downward force for different levels of jobs. 16 oz should be enough for snaps but 24 oz might do it in one strike. I hope this helps and thank you for the video. 🙏

Bought a jacket with a busted snap. It was half priced, so figured I would buy it anyway and fix it with the provided parts. Now I see I don't have the tools, plus the snap hole is only part way through the winter coat, so would require ripping stitches and resewing them after finished. Good to see how to do it though!
Great video! I have a question though. I have many baseball satin jackets. Thank you so much!
I think that's a question for you to answer. How comfortable do you feel with it? If the snap is functioning properly and you just want to change the color, maybe look into getting some nail polish to touch up the color instead of replacing the snaps.
Hi! I just watched this video for a jacket snap replacement (just the male side) and it was SUPER helpful - thanks! Unfortunately the snap is a little loose as I think the nub is a bit longer. Do you know where I can find those spacers? Need about 12mm-14mm?
I don't know where to find the spacers. I've never seen them anywhere but in the existing snap I remove. You can create a little donut of fabric that would work just as well.
@@TailorItYourself The spacers are just nylon (plastic) washers available at any hardware (or sewing?) store. They not only create a tight fit but help distribute the load so the snap doesn't pull thru the fabric.

I was curious about the price of everything to replace a male part of a button on wrk jacket
Depends on where you go to have the work done. I charge $5-7 per snap. It'll be a little more up front to do it yourself as you'll need the tools and the parts but then you're pretty much set for life.
Thanks so much
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching.
Is there a way to repair/replace snaps without the tool? Help please.
Not really. They're designed to lock the pieces together. Without them you'll just smash the parts and they won't hold.
hi hello good morning very nice work, super and beautiful.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed.
So i need that red tool.
Thank you

How to repair coverall into a jacket?
You're asking how to make a coverall into a jacket? That's more redesigning than alterations. I couldn't say exactly what you need to do without seeing how the garment is constructed, but it will be a fairly advanced process.

Are there any women's jeans that close with snap buttons?
I'm sure there are. But a bachelor button is much more common on jeans.
@@TailorItYourself I know, I just need to find one brand I can order for my girlfriend
Please don't take this the wrong way because I truly mean it as the highest of praise, it is so so VERY refreshing to see a girl doing something actually feminine and not being embarrassed to do it. Not only are you not embarrassed your knowledge on the subject matter is very evident. Definitely a breath of fresh air.
I'm not sure this a gendered tutorial, but I'm happy you enjoyed it either way.

Metal buttons
Do you have a business so i can send my wallet over to get some snap buttons installed?
I have a shop in Rochester, MN called Trester Tailor. Before you go that route, you could maybe check for tailors for shoe repair places in your area. But if you'd like me to take a look at something you can find my business information at trestertailor.com.
@@TailorItYourself excellent thank you. I don't want to mess it up, nor have the time and patience.
I have all the replacement parts. There are some placed that need to be restitched. Don't know if you have any machines that can work through leather...

For a wallet? I can't believe there are no tutorials for replacing a broken snap on a wallet..
This technique can be applied to any item. You just need the right parts and know what to do with them.
