You are the only one who has spotted this issue exactly as I experienced it. I don't know why most people here are saying you're lying or that the game isn't that bad. Usually, I don't mind if a game runs at 30fps, but the problem is that it jumps from 60 to 30, which makes the game feel stuttery, and it happens so often. I dropped the game and am just waiting for the next update, hoping there will be a performance fix (maybe a 30fps lock).
they couldn't have bothered to add fsr and possibly a 30fps cap?? I guess it wouldn't matter too much, nintendo fans can play games at 20fps for all they care lol
FSR wouldn’t help here. Looks like a vsync double buffer issue. It was a problem in Links Awakening too and it was never fixed unless you played it emulated with the mod that removes double buffer vsync.
I already spent 30 hours on this game and haven't notice the frame drop. But whenever I play an FPS or TPS game and the frame drops below 60, it sucks and ruins everything. I can't get a kill, it makes me dizzy. So for me, 30fps is fine for this kind of game even with BOTW and TOTK. But not for games that needs split second decision like Elden Ring.

This is the worst performance I've ever seen in a Nintendo game. It feels as if Nintendo doesn't want to realize that their hardware is outdated. And instead of giving us more power, they redesign the old Switch again and again with new stickers on it. The game is just not made for the Switch. It's not optimized for that old hardware.
I think the game is simple enough, technically, to run smoothly on the Switch. The devs just made a bad decision by having double buffer between 30 and 60fps. If the game struggles it goes to one of each value and there's no in between while it could have just either a constant 30fps (which is not acceptable, I mean, Bayonetta 3 runs at a solid 60fps) OR just better optimization because we're talking about 2D "toy chest" graphics here.
It seems that the game runs better in handheld mode. So this game is only for this mode. Nintendo should release stationary game console with power and a handheld version like Xbox Series X and S.
I mean they limited Paper Mario TYD to 30fps likely to mitigate this exact kind of issue. How they felt fine releasing it with the horrendous FPS stability they did is a mystery to me and maybe the only real technical issue I had while playing it. I prefer 60fps in all games, but if you can't keep it consitent, either delay the release or just lock it to 30 ffs.

Thank god I am playing this game on my modded switch so these issues never really bothered me. Added a more details mod, dof blur turnoff and also the stabalization fps mod. Game runs way smoother now! Also disabled bloom as well!
Let me put it like this, they can easily fix this through an update for this game, but they won't bother becasue they want you to buy their new Switch 2 next year so you can then enjoy the games at full speed.
