  • Many of Indiana’s most important historic images aren’t in museums-they’re in the attics and shoeboxes. One-of-a-kind photos of ancestors’ homes, grandpa’s hardware, buildings under construction, or everyday life appear regularly on social media and genealogy sites, but are not of high-enough quality to publish and nearly impossible to search. Worried about the loss of this heritage, the non-profit Indiana Album formed to copy, catalog, and share these images in Indiana's digital community archive at www.indianaalbum.com
Indiana Album’s Founding Director Joan Hostetler discussed some of the most interesting and insightful images shared so far.
This event was the fourth in a new series presented by the Propylaeum focusing on different historic neighborhoods of Indianapolis. From Meridian Place, to Ransom Place, to Lockerbie, and more. Local experts and enthusiasts will discuss the history, architecture, and historical significance neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis and will share photos and stories from past and present.
The Propylaeum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to be the place that celebrates and connects women. We value women's leadership, arts and culture, and historic preservation.

excellent presentation. I've recently become interested in our history, not just in Indiana but all across America. The 1800s were a fascinating time with lots of incredible buildings and architecture

Please don’t apologize for the time you spend showing us these amazing photos and history. I love it! I was born and raised in Indianapolis. I grew up in Woodruff Place and graduated from Tech H.S. I have done some research about Woodruff Place but nothing like what you’ve done. It was like going back in time to when I was a kid. I love anything historical of the 1800’s-1900’s. I have some photos from then. I’ll go through them to see what all I have. I subscribed to your channel. I can’t wait to see other videos and visit your website.

The information on the Pop Junemann's Embassy restaurant, Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1930 was on the west side of Indianapolis not the east side
On December 26, 1925, Proprietor Fred Junemann (1866-1934), a native of Germany, opened the restaurant at 2320 W. 16th Street, on the northwest corner of Lafayette Road

At 41:13, 2512 West 10th Street. When I was about 8 or nine I would go to this store and buy candy. I lived around the corner on Bellview.

I'd like to find pictures around The Iron skillet restaurant sits on top of Coffin golf course. The history of that area but The Iron Skillet Restaurant used to house civil war soldiers and coffin yep house runaway slaves. I heard. Someone owned a big part of that property plus there was a park of some sort also around there off 30th & Cold Springs Rd . But also that amusement park was around Riverside park or in it maybe a water park. And also where I heard there was a beach where apartments sit before the highway.West Lake Apartments if there's any photos I'd love to see em.
