Very interesting video. I notice that a lot of locals don’t appreciate the canal or city. It’s so crazy because those very people will visit another city that may have the same things indy has but swear it’s so much better somewhere else.

I love walking on the canal. So much to do boat rides too!❤

I wrote a paper on this in law school. As a result of the debt challenges this project caused, the state amended the constitution requiring the government to run a balanced budget every single year.
I received a poor grade on the paper because I emphasized the historical aspects too greatly compared to legal stuff. No regrets

This is very interesting. I was not aware this existed. Also, "most successfully failed" - I love this description!

Okay, I definitely want to go take a look at that aqueduct crossing over Fall Creek.

I tried to get drone of it but I ran out of time! It's kind of sketch (behind a water treatment plant and scrap yard)

I grew up on the canal in Broad Ripple. Very cool. My mom grew up in a Southern Indiana town that grew up around the canal’s construction.

Dallas tried to do something similar by making the Trinity navegable, though it obviously didn't get as far. You can hike to see the remnants of a lock and dam at Goat Island Preserve south east of the city. What a crazy era!

When I was a child in the 1950's and 1960's those canals were there but not visable or used.
