    Having got Fotospeed custom profiles from Tim, I can confirm that my ET-8550 is producing amazing B&W prints. Great service, many thanks.

    Hi Tim - Thanks for the great videos on the ET-8550. Looking forward to trying some of your papers. Is there a significant difference between the “custom” profiles based on a print and the “generic” profiles available from your website? How much does one ET-8550 differ from another? Do you offer “generic” profiles with the purchase of papers from other manufacturers? Thanks!

    Hi Tim. I have learned in the review of Keith Cooper that the printer does not use printer profiles for B&W. So how does the coustom profiles work on B&W photos?
    What are the print settings for the second print?

  • @DerSystematiker
    @DerSystematiker ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video Tim. When printing BnW with profile what mode do I select in the printer settings? Since the profile was created using a colour print, I have to select colour instead of Advanced BnW, don't I?

    Hey, any chance you tested also Epson L1800 (which is like the UK ET-14000 but with 6 ink - cmyk and lm lc) ? :) I am interested in comparing the b&w, I know 8550 will be better because of the gray but I have a L1800 and I wonder how better can be the 8550. I also do my custom profiles so it will be just a matter of how better the 8550 is.
    Appreciate the answer.
    Thank you and have a great day!:)

      Hi Veselin, Epson have just this moment dropped off these printers for me to test so watch this space. Should have them uploaded next month. Tim

    silly question, but I was wondering if there is a service [paid] to create a custom profile for a paper your shop does not sell? I have a favorite paper and sadly it does not offer custom profiles so I was looking if there is a way to have one made, thank you in advance for your answer ;)

      You can buy a tool like the datacolor spyder print calibrator or finding someone or a service in your area to do print calibrations. Its also recommended to calibrate your monitor in a similar way.

    Can you not do a 6x4 test print then in photoshop pull the magenta back then print to get the same?

      Yes, you can do this, it's great to find what works for you.

    I see that you have profiles to download for most of your papers for the Epson 8550. Presumably these will work just as well…or is every individual 8550 different? Thanks👍

    • @FotospeedUK
      @FotospeedUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tim, the generic profiles available to download will give you good results. But e always recommend taking advantage of our free custom profiling service to get the best results for your printer. Tim

    If I'm using Epson paper with the appropriate Epson profile for that paper, shouldn't I get the same results? I don't, but shouldn't I? After all, what's the difference?

    • @FotospeedUK
      @FotospeedUK  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We always recommend a custom profile as this is specifically for your set up, we also recommend not leaving it more than a year to get them re-done as parameters can change.
      The generic profiles are made for that certain printer but the output of that printer could differ slightly to yours, hence not getting exact results. Having said that we don't believe the generic profiles for our papers should differ too much (we can't speak for Epson) but it could also be screen calibration?

    What a disappointment this is, you get no explanation how to do this yourself.

    • @FotospeedUK
      @FotospeedUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, to do this yourself you would need to use a device like the i1Studio which would allow you to create your own profiles. Or if you use our paper let me do the work for you. If you have any questions please let me know. Tim

      @@G0FUW I have the same experience, but I doubted myself that I did not see it. Maybe you can great Black and White prints on the ET-8550 but with fotospeed paper you need a icc profile.

      @@tsnijder I didn't get great results with advanced b&w mode but standard settings in Epson Print Layout were fine. I think the issue is that the ET8550 is not well aligned to ABW mode. I am no expert, but the way!

    Hi Tim, I've just purchased this particular printer, and so far I'm pretty impressed. I note that you have profiles aplenty for Fotospeed paper on your website for this printer. Is it still your recommendation that a custom profile be made for my printer (as @nikolasblevins123 asked) for Fotospeed paper? It's an important question to me, because I'm writing from Australia and sending charts back to England would be a bit of a trial.

    • @FotospeedUK
      @FotospeedUK  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The generics should be fine but we do recommend the custom profiles to get the very best results.
