    Thank you for this video! The jargon and SOP stuff on adga is so overwhelming and looks very complicated. You've made this so simple and I'm excited to do it myself!

    We are getting into Nubian Goats and are milking one of the girls now... We have decided to show and your information was wonderful thank you so much. We want to be able to better the breed and learn as much as we can plus have the most in our production of our wonderful goat milk...

    Wow! Thank you so very much for this video! Especially at the very end about not being afraid!!! I have put this off for so long because we are out in the sticks and pretty sure we don’t have anyone local, but I will ask a couple of neighbors and a friend

      hell0kittee you are so welcome! I remember how it felt at first. It’s really not as hard as it seems.

    Any chance you can do a video about the verification test?

    Hopefully you see this.... I’m going on test and it’s thanks to you and the DHI goats FB group! Thank you sooooooo so so much for sharing Kristen! I’ve taken the test and there’s one question that the answer isnt in the booklet .... is there a special way to take the sample? We have to mix it enough before just ladling and putting Into the vial, correct?

    Thank you for making this video!!! I am obviously way over thinking this whole process. I feel much more confident that I can do this. Is the tester test hard? How often do you have a tester verify? OS is once a year. What test type do you use?

      @HammockHavenFarm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      anna evans I was hoping to take some of the mystery out of it. We do Standard-20 (Supervisor tested). The supervisor test is not hard. You should be able to answer everything if you watch this video and read the description. Even if you are not sure, you can often eliminate the wrong answers- they’re often very obviously wrong. Let me know if there is anything you have questions about. A tester needs to take the exam to re-certify once a year.

    I always put in a birthing difficulty. This allows people to see if a doe had a very rough kidding and had low production year, that was probably the reason. I have had two does with very hard kidding that almost died. Both had productions less than 50% their normal. It's good to know the reason for wonky numbers when looking for offspring.

    I am taking the verification test and need a couple questions answered. How many times should a tester dump the milk from the ladle before drawing a sample?
    When my doe has been bred I need to put what two things on the barn sheet?
    When a sample is spoiled or spilled the year-to-date pounds of fat on the monthly report for that Doe will? increase decrease or remain the same or be zero?
    When I find a mistake what do I do? wait until the end of the year, wait until another test to see if the problem was corrected, or call as soon as you see a problem?

    Hi great video. What do you do with the kid goats when your does are on milk test? Do you bottle feed/dam raised kids. Do you bottle feed the kids for the day you are testing?

    The link to the scale you use says it is available through 3rd party sellers. One of them is listed for $1200. Is this an accurate price for a scale??

    Ok one more question, do you keep the empty vials out or do you just keep sending them back and fourth ?

    • @HammockHavenFarm
      @HammockHavenFarm  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Angela Shurtleff I just send them back and forth.

    Do you send in your samples daily?

    • @HammockHavenFarm
      @HammockHavenFarm  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tammy Ralston great question! I need to add this to the Q&A. You only sample and weigh once a month! So it is really not that much extra work. Langston is able to estimate the total milk, butterfat, and protein off that once monthly test.

    I have a few questions for you: I got my box from langston I won't start kidding till middle of march then a couple in april and then the last few in june, do I write everyone down I plan to put on test or do I add them as the kid and come in to milk? And when do I pay ADGA?, do I have to have a herd code first? Last question do I fill out langston papers and send in now(so I get a herd code) or wait till I start sending in samples?

    • @HammockHavenFarm
      @HammockHavenFarm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angela Shurtleff I haven’t forgotten you. Kidding season is kicking my tail. I put the does on test as they come in milk. You’ll need fresh dates on them.

    • @HammockHavenFarm
      @HammockHavenFarm  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to enter my comment to see your other questions on the phone. Go ahead and send in your ADGA paperwork and fees. Leave herd code blank. Langston will assign a herd ID after your first test and get it to ADGA.

      I add them as they kid.
