This would make a great diaper bag for my son who is a single dad. Just add a few pockets inside and a changing pad on the side. Maybe add buckles and straps on the outside like his bug out bags. Thanks for a great idea

One of the duffel bag features I've always liked is like, an integrated changing mat? I've seen ones where there's a roll out tarp thing, and you unzip that pouch so there is a place for you to stand while you change your shoes and maybe socks etc. good for running or cycling or the beach etc.

I had a cycling bag that had that feature, and I just never found myself using it. (Apparently I like to stand on scorching parking lots in my bare feet lol.) That's a really good idea, though, and doesn't take much space to accomplish.

Interesting and informative as always; of particular note is the struggle between 'let's see if it works first,' and aiming for some unattainable version of perfection in a one-off project. As always, thanks. YVR

Thanks Lou! I've been using this duffle 4-5 days a week and love it more and more, I think I will make a version 2.0 with a few refinements soon!

Pretty cool bag. I have a range bag with a double zip like that and have always thought I should give that a go one day.

Thanks! I think with a little refinement it can be pretty easy to accomplish. I need to do more careful measuring and math next time :)
(DIAS pattern is on my table as I type this 😁)

You don't need to use the same colour of thread in your top thread and bobbin - could have used black as you did with a white bobbin so wonky stitching wouldn't have been so obvious on the inside.
    Otherwise, superb work!

Thanks! Yeah, I am aware of the idea of using different colors in top and bobbin, but I very rarely do it (mostly out of laziness). I am already thinking of making a version 2.0 of this bag, so I might go that route next time. The bag is working great!

I have been thinking about making a larger duffle bag with similar cross section shape. I didn't think about a double zipper, but I might now.

So far I'm really liking the double zip; I wasn't sure about how it would work for something duffle-sized, but so far, so good! Thanks!

I had a duffel bag in the 80s with dual zippers and I thought it was excessive to use. One big smooth running chunky YKK zipper is best.

Reminds me of a bowlers bag almost ... The shape any way

The black Crypto Tech pattern with the red accent is a nice call! I thought the triangle top wouldn’t work, but it looks like a nice opening. Awesome bag. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't sure how it would function, but the mouth of the bag can actually open quite wide, so it works really well. I think version 2.0 will have the bottle pockets on one of the faces of the bag instead of the ends, but so far the bag is working really well.
Thanks for being part of the channel!

@@thejasonofalltrades Bottle pockets on the sides will interfere with wearing the bag. Perhaps a "Molly" system like military bags you can move the water bottle pouch around the bag.

Hey that’s the method I use to make my proof of concept bags. Have you been watching me? I end up with 3 copies of the finished bag. First Is very rough. Second looking much better ( I often give these bags away and the third is a salable piece. Very interesting.

Do you remember the old gym bags I followed the same cutting and sewing method and the third bag came out great. Think gym bag, single zipper and 2 thicker more sturdy handles.
