Sad to think of all the fakes and posers who achieve fame and these guys go virtually unnoticed. No weak links in Pokey's band. World class talent, man. This group is hot.
Miss this version of the band tremendously. This might be their pinnacle for me. The arrangement is perfect, and the musicianship is off the charts, without ever being blustery.
I drove through a snowstorm to see Pokey and his band, and only 4 or 5 of his band made it. It was a great show anyway. Got his autograph on that latest CD.😊
I've been fortunate to have seen Pokey twice in sunny Muncie Indiana. Outside concert. I love, love, love them and their music!! Oh, please contract Chloe again and come back to see us. We love you!!!!
Holy Fuck. Brilliant. I should be asleep but here I am....awake and loving every fucking second!!! Tomorrow is gonna blow...but I'm thrilled to have new music to explore while I bitch and groan about grown up life. Awesome.
Wonderful ‘feel good’ music. Lots ‘o jump and great musicians. I play clarinet so Chloe is always a special treat for me. Kudos to all. Oh.........and my heart goes out to the tone deaf cementheads who provided a thumbs down. For your own safety.......come down off the ledge. On second thought...........maybe not.
Number one band and singer. Better than anyband and singer in Nashville. Pokey and his band can out do them all. I just love em, play his music all the time. I am amazed at the talent they have.
I keep listening to this one for years now. Always wanted to play along. So I took some time and wrote down the chords and lyrics. See below if you wanna play along as well and have fun! Pokey plays the rhythm section in D tuning (2 half steps down) with Capo on 2 You can play it without capo in standard tuning as well He plays the chords very different here and there throughout the song so take everything below as a suggestion The C#7 is just a C7 one fret higher, D7 two frets, the F is played as a cowboy chord (x3321x) The G is played as a barree best as it allows you to play those muted hits better, some goes for the A7 Key to get the right vibe in this song is the left hand muting right after the hit C#7 x4342x D7 x5453x All the solo parts and the verse have the same pattern which goes like this F C#7 C7 F F C#7 C7 F D7 G7 C7 F C7 F C#7 C7 F F A7 D7 G7 C7 F D7 G7 C7 F D7 G7 C7 F [Verse lyrics] Sadie Green was the vamp of New Orleans And she had more sweeties than the Navy done had Marines Oh when she starts to shake her hips She'd say "Captain captain, go on and sink your ships now" If she starts to vamp oh gosh Mama burn my mackintosh Oh since my gal came to town Yeah she turned every little thing right upside down And she cried, oh boy, full of steam What she ain't got, she just don't need What a queen Sadie Green She was the vamp of New Orleans The vamp of New Orleans

There are so many young, talented and innovative musicians comming up today in England, Spain and Europe it is sooo good to hear something really great here in the U.S. The lazer light shows and big productions have gotten soooo stale. Your fan base has to explode Pokey. You have what the music world is comming to.
Pokey Lafarge I LOVE your music! Bring back the oldies please. It is refreshing to listen to actual music. Sending you my best! Cant wait to watch you in concert.
@@jamesprince9041 Thank for putting a name to the instrument. Videos like this always drive me nutz when they don't credit all the musicians by name. It literally takes 10 minutes to type in some credits.

Brilliant stuff....and hats off to the sound engineer for placing the mic about half way up the clarinet, not near the bell. Fantastic fun, really lifted my spirits! xx

The amazing jonathathan

The best right here and we get it to keep. Imagine how much better live.
🤔
Super tight band with fab musicians! Really miss this fantastic phase of Pokey and his crew!🤩
Miss this version of the band tremendously. This might be their pinnacle for me. The arrangement is perfect, and the musicianship is off the charts, without ever being blustery.
Absolutely! This is brilliant!
Chloe's smile while TJ plays his horn is priceless,,,,Pokey really fuckrd up letting this band to leave him,,,,I miss the old Pokey,,,rest in peace
I noticed that smile too, i think she just has great love for anyone with musical talent equal to her own which is absolutely outstanding!

Listening to this song made me a better person.
This young lady playing clarinet was just incredible in these songs.
This truly was the best iteration of Pokey's band. Outstanding.
I agree
Agreed. I don't connect with his newer stuff nearly as much as this.
I've listened to this over a hundred times. What an amazing group. Bass player, harmonica, EVERYBODY in this band is passionate and perfect. Ear candy
Me too
I could watch this all day, so talented!
A top shelf band and band leader. Chloe sounds great on that licorice stick. She's the cherry on top in this piece.
Licorice stick: I haven't heard that in a long time!
I miss Chole
I love the way she puts her clarinet on her shoulder like a batter in the on-deck circle.
Yeh she knocked it out all right
The Lady on the clarinet is FANTASTIC !
There is something very special about musical groups where everyone in the group is really-really good at playing their instrument.
Amen!!!
Just gorgeous. Thanks Josh and Allison. So much talent. ❤️🇦🇺
This is the most talented group of musicians in the history of music !!
Fantastic and the clarinet lady is the cutest you will ever hear and see. She’s gorgeous.
I love this music these folks are awesome keeping the 30s & 40s style swing rhythm together very Django 👌🏴
Every time I feel blue this really hits the spot. Always finish with a smile on my face. Excellent musicians loving what they do.
This kind of music needs to make a comeback!
They're all fantastic, love this song 😊
That intro, I could listen to that all day.
I wish I could play a guitar like that...
Have I mentioned how much I adore Chloe?
The clarinet is fantastic in this song!!
That Gibson ain't wasted on that boy and Chloe's high clarinet just the touch to grease this bad up. Top flight.
I was watching a movie the other evening and was surprised to see Pokey LaFarge in it! He was very good too.
Absolutely love it! My goodness that was fantastic!👍👍👍🦘🙏
Awesome tune! Nice to hear them play. Feel like I have traveled back in time to a long-gone era.

Pokey, this is where I became a fan. I was in Bristol and saw you guys there.
Haven't stopped listening. You are surrounded by great musicians
Pete Fountain and Benny Goodman are a smilin' down.
Indeed they are! Maybe even playing along! :}
Don't forget Fats Waller. I can just hear his little asides behind the swing.
Last night I discovered this amazing little clarinet player, turns out she used to play with Pokey Lafarge. That makes sense.
She also plays a pretty good sax.
She’s adorable
Regret is not having seen this band live. Fantastic doesn't even describe the talent/chemistry here.
What an awesome group. Just fine individuals. Happy to be alive at the same time. I wish them all a happy and comfortable life.
Woooooweeeeee! That is some mighty fine pickin and a'grinnin! Chloe on the C is on a whole nother plane...
Damn it Pokey! I am suppose to be putting together my playlist for working out and here I am chasing you down a youtube rabbit hole gaah
I've been looking, now I've found the band to follow. And yes beautiful clarinet, seasoned guitarist, bass, harmonica. EXCELLENT.
His voice just melts with the music 👍👏
If there's any better feel-good music than this, I've yet to hear it! Chloe looking and sounding absolutely hot, as usual.
Holy Fuck. Brilliant. I should be asleep but here I am....awake and loving every fucking second!!! Tomorrow is gonna blow...but I'm thrilled to have new music to explore while I bitch and groan about grown up life. Awesome.
A reminder, just in case your day is sucking.

This is soooo good! Pokey's facial expressions themselves are old timey
I have just been BLOWN AWAY!!!
I could listen to this over and over, for hours on end! You All are so talented and a very tight band! Awesome, on top of incredible. Love Ya'll.

The talent here is phenomenal such great music
TJ's riffs always fit perfectly, bad boy, horn or banjo.
I lived in Bristol, VA a whole week, and I never knew they had live entertainment!

Hairs on the back of my neck have just risen!! This is just unspeakably great...
oh my God how I love this
Some hot licks. The band is truly cookin'.
I hope they never change their lineup. They are sort of like Bill Monroe with Lester and Earl in the band. Every musician at their peak.
My sister sent this to me...
My sister is freak’n awesome!!!
Oh shoot! That is fabulous! What musicianship!! Puts a smile ... T H I S ...... BIG on my old face!!

The G is played as a barree best as it allows you to play those muted hits better, some goes for the A7
Key to get the right vibe in this song is the left hand muting right after the hit
C#7 x4342x
D7 x5453x
All the solo parts and the verse have the same pattern which goes like this
F C#7 C7 F
F C#7 C7 F
D7 G7
C7 F C7
F C#7 C7 F
F A7
D7 G7 C7
F D7
G7 C7 F D7 G7 C7 F
[Verse lyrics]
Sadie Green was the vamp of New Orleans
And she had more sweeties than the Navy done had Marines
Oh when she starts to shake her hips
She'd say "Captain captain, go on and sink your ships now"
If she starts to vamp oh gosh
Mama burn my mackintosh
Oh since my gal came to town
Yeah she turned every little thing right upside down
And she cried, oh boy, full of steam
What she ain't got, she just don't need
What a queen Sadie Green
She was the vamp of New Orleans
The vamp of New Orleans
Me: "Yeah, I used to play clarinet back in school."

Me: "Nope, I used to squeak and break reeds." (walks away with my pride in my back pocket)
