The music video is actually super full of symbolism. As a lit major, I hope you see this comment. If you see the ligting, the warm and the cool colors, it's a contrast between the two sisters. If you see in the beginning, they focused on covering the blind sister's eyes and lips with the bed post and many other angles. On the other hand, you see the older sister reflected in many mirrors. This is the concept of the all seeing eye, and the innocence of not seeing at all. The older sister saw too much into things in turn, making her red with rage. The blind sister, just sees or experiences happiness because she does not have the ability to add any malice into what she cannot see. Anyway, that's just a little bit of it...there's much more.
I really think this is more than what meets the eye. I read somewhere that the blind girl represents the innocent side of the woman in the song (talking about the lyrics) and she tries to drown her bc she is trying to drown the side that makes her "weak" and does not let her forget the person she loved. This is one of my favorite songs, I really wish almost every girl group had this type of song with an MV. BEG is known for their amazing and well made stories in the videos, they are amazing.
BEG make genuine music like no other group and this is one of my favourites. It's a song about insecurities and trying to find love and how girls wear make up as an attractive mask, but in the song she's crying when she removes her make up because she still feels insecure and without her make up she's vulnerable. The video is fantastic also, so heartfelt, angry and sad. The blind girl is living with her sister who she looks up to, but the sister is aging and is jealous of her youthful sister especially when she feels her husband is giving her more attention. I absolutely love BEG they can tackle any style.
I think the reason why the older sister did that to the younger girl is because she's seeing old self in her. Curious, eager, and youthful. But as you can see from her current life, she's pretty and rich but is not happy. There are some shots that suggest her marriage is not a happy one. It is indeed unfair of her to do that to her younger sister though.
Brown Eyed Girls were the first group that got me into k-pop. I teared up when I was listening to Cleansing Cream for the first time, and then MV made me even sadder... Haven't listened to this song for quite a while, but it still makes me want to cry after watching your video :(
My interpretation of the lyrics: a girl(cos only girls use the form 'unni') who is more innocent(young normally connotates innocence) is slowly being dirtied with life and adulthood. She wants to erase the dirty marks of love and life(since normally a girl's adulthood is symbolised by make up) but at the same time she cries because even though those memories gave her pain, they were sweet memories that won't leave her heart and mind. I like the part where they said "what use is pretty makeup" because even though makeup is meant to make you pretty, it doesn't give you the youth and innocence that she wants back(because the pretty makeup is only a cover up for the scars, she wants to go back to when it didn't hurt). However, hypocritically(because humans are like that), she wants an alcoholic drink with unni to forget about this. She's trying to rely on unni like she used to but it's not strong enough any more, so she needs to borrow the power of alcohol to forget it, but that's just another cover up, a stronger one, but a more destructive one(especially towards innocence). Another part I really loved(I love Narsha's vocals in that part so much as well) was "do me a favour unni, let's have a party together, I don't want to erase my makeup yet". I think the speaker has finally had a drink with unni at this point, and she just wants to forget everything completely and she doesn't know any other way than to just continue covering up her scars because she can't go back to the innocent girl that she used to be and she's accepting it slightly. So she doesn't want to wipe her half-erased makeup off because she's already learned while erasing it that she can't go back, and she copes with it by indulging herself in the filth she wanted to get rid of. The mv shows a kind of struggle between the speaker wanting her innocence untouched and the pain that love and life gives. In the end, even though she wipes the makeup off the little sister, the little sister would be traumatized forever, which is why she breaks down next to the tub.
I think when the sister got to her last straw she was desperately trying to wash the makeup off her face, not drown her... but yeah, from jealousy, and from seeing herself in her sister trying to grow up etc

It really was a misunderstanding. The younger sister I think really admired her sister. Whether it was by talking to her or by seeing her sister before she became blind, she had an idea of what kind of woman her sister was. Beautiful, fashionable and kind, she wanted to be her. However her sister like you said didn't see the whole picture. Not when her younger sister who held while she slept, she saw her younger sister who was probably curious to know the face of he man her older sister loved. the younger sister went to the closet to touch her older sister's clothes, breath in her familiar scent, feel what kind of clothes that she wore. She bumped into the husband when she was probably looking for the sister. She put on make up to emulate her. The older sister saw her younger sister falling in love with her husband. It's a really complicated situation they had but yeah this is one of my favorite song and video from Brown eyed girls :)

People don't talk about the actual disability aspect of the MV that much, but it's not that surprising really bc the song isn't about that, it's more symbolic, and the big sister doesn't acknowledge it either. Disability really is something you can't control, whether you were born that way or were in an accident. Being disabled myself, it's very frustrating when sometimes people take it personally if I need special accommodations or just can't do something. Like it's such an inconvenience to them, as if my disability affects them more than it does me, haha. So thanks for the commentary in the end !! :)

The blind feel something for the husband and her sister getting jealous, but she's mad too, mad about her sister who try to feel normal but sadly she can't be... She wants to see her sister happy and her jealousy, her anger / rage (about the thing her sister will not have a normal life), this is why she does that with the bathtub... this is why her reaction is surrealist because she's angry and sad, insecure (like you said). I think it was deeper than just getting jealousy to be honest! I don't know, I may have another view on this because my own brother is mentally ill and I know if I love my brother and everything is fine, there is always, since the very first moment that question of "what if he wasn't ill, how would be my life if he wasn't here?" And if I love my brother way too much to even think about him go, most famillies relationship with an ill member, especially when it calls for constant help, constant presence like for a blind little girl that has to live with her sister, they go through crisis like these. It's not that they are Monsters or anything, but we have to understand this is a constant strugle they will probably go through for the rest of their life even tho it's not them who's ill. My brother goes to a specialised school and some people litterally lose their mind because they can't handle to take care of them, some have to let go of their dreams, let go of their social life.... I don't want to give them excuses, just want to explain how I saw her snapping in this MV. I think she couldn't handle to live her couple life with her little sister anymore, and I think it's even sadder than just jealousy :(
