Thank you, this made me decided to buy a PM461TR with a boom arm, shock mount, a metal pop filter, and a windmuff. Suddently, the price is on par with AU-A04 with all the accessories, lol. Just because I want that gain knob on the mic too.
Tobias, I would recommend you doing few videos were you show us your top pick mics at different price ranges. That would be helpful to a lot of people. Thanks for your videos. Keep up the good work!
Somehow, the AU-A04 sounds more balanced and cleaner to me. The AU-PM461TR sounds more sensitive to high freqs (screechy?). The gain knob looks great, but the extra accessories for sure would come in handy too. Probably will go with the A04.
Wow ur review helped me alot. I was having a problem on which one to buy (fifine K683a, maono au-a04 and maono au-pm461tr). My first choice was the fifine k683a cause of the gain knob, mute button and the usb type c connection, but its a little bit pricey. Then maono au-ao4 sounds pretty good cause i dont hear any background noise frm ur review, but it doesnt have a gain knob and i already have a boom arm. So im getting the au-pm461tr, cause its the cheaper of the 3, theres a gain knob, when u put the windmuff at the end the background noise disappeared and it almost sound like the au-ao4. I'll just order a windmuff, so i dont need to spend more
I think AU-A04 is cleaner and smoother but, it doesn't have a gain knob for easy use. I have the AU-PM461TR and it's good and has a gain knob. I just use my scissor arm that comes with my BM-800 for comfortable use
You're welcome! I just wanted to give you a heads up that apparently mid 2020 Maono was putting a new chip in the A04, I talk about it a little this this video th-cam.com/video/WL-ZVxLEs4Y/w-d-xo.html I'm not sure what chip they are putting in it now, but apparently the ones that they had in mid 2020 didn't sound good
Did you tested the PM461TR using the arm? I'm using a AU-A04 for something about 6months, although it has a good record quality, it's so sensitive that i have to use it a little far from my mouth and take care to not get to excited, or else it clips my audio, so i was wondering if the PM461TR has the same problem, as it has the gain knob Anyway, thanks for the video :)
Hi I love your videos! Can I ask if you test o know the AU-A03? It looks way similar to the A04 and cames with all the accessories too but it is XLR to 3.5. A03 is the one available in my country so... It is my option but I dont know if I can make the choice with your video
I think it's definitely good for this price range. It's actually the best mic I've tested out in this price range, but if you have a higher budget there are other options out there. Do you know how much you are willing to spend on a mic?
Hello! Excellent detailed review! Thank you! I have a somewhat unusual task. I need to record ultrasound 10-80 kHz, and the analog-to-digital converter of this microphone MAONO PM461TR should cope with such a task. Would you be so kind as to make a test recording of 192 kHz / 24 bit? Please just shake a bunch of iron door keys so that they clink in front of the microphone and put the resulting wav file somewhere without processing.

Yeah I would try turning your gain down. Try to monitor you audio level on your computer to make sure you don't go into the red. If you are going into the red, turn down the gain until you are not going into the red anymore
Personally I have never tried, but I have seen some cool videos where people mic a drum kit with 1 condenser mic. I think it should probably work. You'll probably just have to turn the sensitivity way down
