    Hey, Tobias. Thanks for the comparison. I'm considering the PM421. I have a FiFine K669L. I tried the Maono AU-AO4 and found that it had a little too much bass, not enough highs. The FiFine K669 seemed to have a better frequency response. With your comparison, I like the PM421 better. Thanks for the hint about using an OTC adapter with your iPhone. Never new that.

      I wish I would have seen this video before I bought the A04, I plan on using it for music anyway so I can control the gain via my recording software, or straight from the settings but I do agree that it's a little more convenient. So not much of a loss for me but I would have definitely paid the difference.

    Hi so I don’t know if you’ve seen this yet but in Maono’s website, they just have a new mic called Maono AuHD300s I think and it’s like a Samson Q2U but with USB C so I’m interested to see a review of that mic whenever it’s available

    Your reviews, as always, are great. But this company is confusing the hell out of me with their approach to features. Now I'm torn between the PM-401 and the PM-421. How do you not opt for the headphone jack, or, conversely, not opt for the gain function? They just couldn't include both, could they. So it goes.

    • @rafaelcosio266

      @@rafaelcosio266Hello, Rafa. I had not heard that there was a 422 model. I have been in SE Asia for a long while and we don't usually get news on the "latest and greatest," concerning anything popular in the West. I will look into the PM-422. If it's available through an Asian supplier, that will likely be the solution. To ship from, say, the USA, you are guaranteed, at minimum, a 100% markup, through shipping and VAT. If it's not available, I have decided to forego the manual gain, mainly because I like the way the PM-401 threads into the shock mount. I will also be interested to know if the 422 went with a metal, rather than plastic, protection screen. Thank you very much, my brother.

    The pm421 does sound more gentle on the ears and a lot quieter, seems like it would be better for asmr and instrumental works, But it does make you sound kind of nasally. But I think its because it has a really flat response.
    But the a04, sounds more dynamic(more bass) and loud, and less nasally, but its more harsh on the ears. You can tell it doesn't have a flat response, more of a colored noise, with boosted bass. I feel like u would have to lower the volume for that mic. Their both good, just different signatures.

    Any difference in USB and XLR?

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These two mics are both USB mics, but in general when comparing USB mics and XLR mics there are some differences that can affect the audio. First of all with USB mics the soundcard is in the mic itself, with XLR mics you are going to need an audio interface. If you have a good XLR mic and a bad audio interface, that can make the mic sound bad. So you want to make sure you have a decent audio interface and most XLR condenser mics will require phantom power. Next, most USB condenser mics are small diaphram condensers and a lot of XLR mics have large diaphrams. Large diaphram condensers typically will have a lower noise floor. There are some other differences, but those are some basics
