  • Join me as I photograph Hooded Mergansers, Mallards, Canada Geese, and a Belted Kingfisher at my local pond. Starting out well before sunrise we'll watch the day come to life and listen to the sounds of this small urban pond.

    Cool stuff Ray, love watching the hoodies and their courtship antics. Also the new b-roll footage was a nice step up in your production👍

    No idea how I haven't found your videos earlier, these are great! Plenty of high quality duck action to watch and it was neat to see some of your setup and process.

    Great video Ray - got to say I noticed the mirrorless camera immediately, I've shot mirrorless for a few years now and that silent shutter made all the difference for close up skittish waterfowl.

      @RayHennessy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I've certainly be able to get photos of birds like this with a dSLR but absolutely the silent shutter makes a huge difference!

    Fantastic installment Ray. I'm not sure I've seen a video series that shows a photographer's thought process for set up, composition and exposure as effectively. I always look forward to watching them, thanks!

    Ray, your „Behind the Scenes“ type of videos are nothing else than awesome - your thought process about composition and exposure is golden - learning a lot from your videos and thanks so much for sharing!! Cheers, amicx

    Very nice, love these vlogs! Do you always use "area" metering?

    • @RayHennessy
      @RayHennessy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much and yes, 99% of the time I use the overall matrix/area metering. I'm so used to how that works and it's served me quite well.

    • @johnray424
      @johnray424 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RayHennessy I find myself doing the same more and more. Many times, other photographers will say I need to be using spot metering. I tend to use the exposure compensation to adjust background and/or subject's exposure. If not mistaken, seen you doing same thing.

    • @RayHennessy
      @RayHennessy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnray424 Spot metering works for some but not for everyone, use whatever works best for you. When I'm using auto-ISO I will use exposure compensation to get the correct exposure I'd like yes.
