I wouldn't want every filmmaker to be Harmony Korine but I'm sure glad we live in a world that has a Harmony Korine. Bold, brave, fearless. GUMMO will never leave my psyche, no matter how hard I've tried to expunge it.
Aggro Drift is the video game movie version of the book the main character was writing in American Fiction. There's no way Harmony Korine isn't trolling us.
I think Harmony Corine in all of his movies is trying to capture the "essence" of some type of subculture that has something special "outside of the ordinary" that is in the collective unconscious of our cultural experience as a society. He does this in an intuitive way not rational. He wants to connect to something he feels or sees in reality that he finds interesting and he doesnt care the about the outcome.
So happy to see y’all’s positive perspective on Aggro drift! Been basically only seeing negative press so y’all’s perspective was refreshing to hear! Super excited to check it out when released!
Harm has been fucking with us all since the start. You will be fooled on some level everytime. I'm an unashamed gushing fanboy to anyone who will listen. But he constantly makes up preposterous stories about his life, his motivations, technique... and always he's revealing some important truths amidst countless, hilarious lies and half truths. Harm is the art as much as his product. I think I'll hate things about this and love that I know he intended to test what I will accept as a consumer and fan. I'm hyped for an Australian release if we get one. The Beach Bum Never had a cinematic release here, so I might have a wait on my hands.
Wait a minute guys, I'm pretty sure I saw an interview with Korine where he made it clear he was serious about Spring Breakers as well, meaning he treated this 'world though the eyes of a teenager today' vibe with respect, he wanted us to be immersed in it rather than make it look as hilariously grotesque as it frankly turned out to be (?). Either way, I'm a fan of SB and HK so I'm looking forward to this one too.
It was. Half the audience loved it, half hated it. I saw so many people asleep during the film or looking pissed off. I hated it but stayed cuz I wanted answers. I felt like he was trolling, but the answers he gave at the Q&A made it seem more like he was just free flow vibing. It could have been an amazing short instead of a visually stunning meandering mess.

why try? That movie is my happy place
Pointless movie filled with random vignettes.
Let’s not forget Harmony Korine described this movie as “based cinema”
Never been this excited to see a movie that has basically been panned by a lot of critics

he literally said aggro is “vibe-based” film

The haters of this movie calling it plotless and asinine, not knowing us Harmony fans loved Trash Humpers 😂
Trash Humpers one of the worst things ever created. Aggro drift was fine
@@RB-.- Trash Humpers is a lot of fun. Still haven’t had the chance to see Aggro yet, and now we have Invasion Baby coming!
I’ve been dying to see this somewhere, I hope a distributor picks it up soon!
Would you say that the music of Cole Jaeger is more crazier than this film?

When he’s lying he’s telling the truth and when he’s telling the truth he’s probably lying 😆
Spring break forever
Working the midnight Toronto oil, i see. 🐈

In Harmony Korine I trust.
Vaporwave for sure…You should watch all his other movies and this will make more sense
Have you guys ever though about dabbling in music reviewing?
I know right would love to see this!
I was literally thinking their knowledge was pretty vanilla but I'm a huge electronic music snob
I loved Trash Humpers and I love High Voltage Jamboree by Cole so I am very intrigued by this.
sounds like harmony was tryna troll a bunch of prestigious tiff critics 😭
Did it feel like a drawn out music video for travis scott-turned movie?!
I can't wait to see it
W takes
Outside of a Generation Z audience, this film will likely get trounced in its reception.
sounds like smth that should've shown at fantastic fest or sxsw, not tiff!
Its world premiere was in Venice lol (out of competition)
@@pb.j.1753 premiering a film like this at a "prestigious" festival like venice is part of the troll haha
Gummo, Spring Breakers, & The Beach Bum are great to me. Aggro Dr1ft sounds insufferable.
