I am curious as to why you dislike the quality of your videos: I already respect your animation style, and if you look through the comments a lot of others do too. From what i can tell you are one person working on these videos, and you are outputting weekly content with your current method. If you look back through your videos there is a clear improvement to the quality and content of the videos: and you have been producing a high quality standard of video for a month straight: 5 videos! I feel like you should be focusing on your thoughts and ideas for later videos rather than improving your animation style: it will probably help in the long run, and when you are able to, you could get another person on board your staff to cope with upping the animation quality.
Increasing the frequency of your videos will also help to get messages across faster, and more effectively. Take a look at kurzgesagt. Their videos are of immensely high quality, however take many people to make over a much broader time span. Their videos have a better animation style, sure, but they have plenty of support from millions of people (at the time of writing their subscriber count was 4,992,378, which is close enough to 5 million.) 5 Million people supporting a TH-cam channel, with a solid grounding to improve animation quality.
Hopefully you agree with some of the things i have just mentioned, and if you can't already tell i really enjoyed the learning series.

The best way of studying for me is:
1) Understand the info
2) Repeatedly test myself over and over again until I know everything
3) Teach people about what I've learnt (e.g. tutoring them through a topic)
4) Applying the knowledge (past papers or to everyday situations)

I found out early on, in my teenage years actually, that the best way for someone to really grasp new information is to teach them like they're a complete moron. I've always learned faster when someone baby's me through something so I try to use that technique when teaching others.
That's why I hate the programming community. When you try to get help with something that they deem easy, you'll get chewed out for it, as if they've never been in that position before.

EXACTLY. The first question I asked on Stack Overflow when I was a newcomer in the programming community and got two downvotes cuz I didn't know the concept of vectors. AND also because I was using Turbo C, which isn't my fault cuz my backwards dunghead Education Board drafted syllabus to use Turbo C and the ancient C++ format. Is that my fault? No. Can I learn about modern methods by asking/searching online? Yes. Will the egotistical SO community allow that? No, sir! They're too deep in their thick fucking high status to allow newbies to learn.

As a professor, I found that teaching a topic to others always improved my grasp of it. In retrospect, I think I probably should have told my students that the best way to be sure they understood the material would be to try to explain it to someone else, even someone outside the field.
This technique seems almost flawless. I’ve always thought that focusing on my weak points while studying was super helpful. This has confirmed it.

This is not how to study. This is after you already studied "the source material". In university the source material will be 300 pages every 15 days in an exam where you write by hand in a stressful manner for 1 - 3 hours.
Teemu M. exactly, this is a terrible video- it teaches you how to have an indepth knowledge of something, not how to study.. a shallow knowledge of what you are studying is much better when you have a small time scale to write your essay, as there is less to complicate you, and as examiners only have a couple of minutes to read your paper, remembering key buzzwords, and quotes and putting them on paper matters more in an exam
I don´t think you can know what the keywords are and what they mean by skimming the book. The memory cannot keep 300 pages of shallow knowledge. You lose it all one day. It can´t be about my reading technique. There must be a previous level that helps you to skim most of it, or the questions are not about the keywords but cover only the short intro of the book.

the feynman technique was never made for people to study better for school and university n shit, its made for actually understanding and practicing concepts for ur own benefit and so it sticks. school education throws that shit out the window most of the time, so u cant really expect this learning method to work very well for school studies

Go back to source and study till you can use easy language to explain.
Repeat.
Challenge: be simple and concise. An intelligent fool can make things more complicated. It takes courage to go the other way.
Be able to explain it to a 5 year old.
Create an analogy. This is the Pinnacle of having mastered a topic. Using analogies allow you to meet the explainee at his or her level of idnerstanding, not yours.

This topic has always been of high interest amongst psychologists.
In the first 50 or 60 years psychologists studied the way we learn. I especially like findings of behaviourists like Pavlov (classical conditioning) and Skinner (instrumental conditioning). I know that’s a lot has been said ever since but I can still find a lot of value in their experiments when it comes to education.

I fully agree that learning deeper improves understanding by filling gaps and connecting dots. It definitely gives meaning to what I'm studying but it's time consuming as I have such a short time between exams.

I find it hard to explain something to someone who doesn't share the basic understanding of a topic.
In order to explain you have to go from ground up, and build up your explanation piece by piece. I can understand that helps a lot to solidify your own understanding, but its a freaking time consuming endeavour

I used to think the same. But I realised that if I can't teach the basics in the simplest language (like a jargon free, simple language), even if it consists of basic formulas, basic knowledge, the basics aren't actually clear to me. Yes! Most basics in our childhood are taught to us in a way, we know their formulas, we know how to solve problems through them, we have practised theme enough but we haven't been able to imagine them in reality. So we find it time taking to explain those basics to an amateur too. Otherwise, it's extremely interesting and not as tiring to teach someone from the very beginning.

Once again excellent video. It's interesting with how you can use these various methods of absorbing and understanding information. Applying them to a routine, pushing your critical thinking abilities, and taking a step back to analyze seems to be a general idea of all of these. Granted the excecution will vary from person to person. But the effort is worth it. Think of the opportunity cost. Effort into these methods and pushing your critical thinking versus wasting time on something else haha.

Basically the 4 steps can be summed up to just study the material with more focus on your weak points until you can explain what you've learned simply and concise to someone who doesn't know the material.

Hi, I am a highschool graduates who will continue study engineering in Ireland this September. I am very excited about my future college class, so I have started to prepare my future college subjects before September. And after watching your videos of Feynmann Technique and The Effective Way of Memorization, I do inspire but also faced some problems at the same time.
Here's the problem: I took plenty of time of doing revision. After learning a new topic, I quickly do revision after 15 min breaks, and set the time I will do the revision of that topic again (the increasing time period you mentioned before). Although this actually quite effective, I use feynmann technique to do revision, which took me so much of time when I try to explain a topic. If I keep studying this way, I will spend most of my time for doing revision instead of learning new topics!!!
So, how can I improve my study way?
I met the same problem when used feyman techique. It's necessary to solve the problem between learning and reviewing. However, I find that there is no people to anwser the question.
And another point I want to say is you are similar to me, so hopeful to the future, so ambitious.

My way of studying is I have to study what I'm having a test on over and over again, then my mom or someone has to quiz me on it I usually don't do very well. Sadly I don't like studying because I just simply hate tests!
If you don't mind me asking: what is your method of study? (read, write, flashcards, e.t.c)
diamondwood1 I sometimes use index cards, read my material try to memorize it, and write and read
Firstly, what I am about to write will be less effective to you if you are doing the real tests for GCSE's (for Americans that's 15-16 yr old's) or higher very soon, as the tests you will be doing are more important to your learning journey than a smaller year 9 (13-14 yr old's) test.
If you can in any way, without punishing overall learning, try to tweak your revising process from test to test, and make a note of any errors that arise from your current process. Some examples of errors in your revising process may be:
Distractions (internet, home life, environment, or other)
Technique in revising (Lack of intake of knowledge using a specific technique, etc.)
Lack of fresh air (Fresh air, depending on the pollution in the air, will benefit your focus and productivity greatly)
Any other problems that you can detect within your study.
Use of some of the techniques made in this video and other videos by Freedom In Thought (most notably critical thinking, as this relates directly to school and its flaws), or any other techniques that you may find on the internet or from other members of society, will almost definitely increase your memory of different topics that you may need to revise for or research, and this therefore makes it much easier for memory to be used later on in life in the career path and jobs that you will choose.
_Arguing with yourself and writing that down in a systematic, ongoing plan ... that has been my recipe for a couple of years now. Its probably these three points I would give most weight to out of your selection. They make course correction so much easier that becoming better gradually, is in most cases a likely outcome, and I'd argue that they are a precursor to the other traits you described._

It doesn't work for everyone. It's all about finding your best method.
I find that when I study Anatomy with Flashcards, even if I'm doing a last night cram because I was procrastinating, I'll still do significantly better, than I would if I didn't study at all.
A great example of this is that I didn't study for my third test(I was sick as all hell.) and I failed because of it, got a 52.
Only first two test however, I got an 80+ because of my flashcards. At the end of the day, you have to look for the important messages.
Listen from the chapters beginning and write down the key points that your instructor points out.
If it's like Anatomy, essentially everything is important, Make a flashcard on everything, and start from there.
Make a Stack of flashcards, And when you're ready, read one side, and say the meaning. If you don't know it, flip it over, close your eyes and say it five times aloud to yourself. Then put it in a separate stack of the cards that your don't know vs. the ones you do. When you're all done go back and try to solve the cards you didn't know. Repeat the stacks for the ones you know vs. what you don't know.
That's how I do it, although it won't work for everyone. I suck at reading and understanding my text books.
It really hit me hard when I got into college because I was used to not having to study for test to pass.
High-school does not prepare you for college at all. You have to know how to study for sure, because if you don't you will surely fail.
so thats why teachers are so knowledgeable of what they teach.

I study by making notes and highlighting the key words. I prefer to use a text book instead of a revision book so that I can find the points myself. After each subtopic I reread my notes and test myself. Works for me :)

I am a very visual person. I learn by writing, over and over, and memorizing in images or 3D-models is pretty easy to me.
But at the same time, my brain somehow reacts very sensitively to auditory signals.
I don't know how others think about it, but to me personally the audio of the reversed piano was UTTERLY DISTRACTING. I couldn't focus 10 consecutive seconds on what was said.
