      FYI you don't pay centerpoint for electricity. secondly blame the news weather forecast folks because they predicted the hurricane to hit mexico and the southern coast of texas originally. Lastly, name one city that was hit by a hurricane that infrastructure wasn't impacted in the slightest?

      One reason is because people don't turn off unnecessary lights or electronics. Two of my neighbors had outside lights on during the hurricane. Why? No one is outside your house in a hurricane. I can only imagine what they had going on inside the house. Turn off everything you don't need and turn up your thermostat during storms.

    Texas has its own power grid so they don’t have to go by the federal regulations. And the governors are standing by the power companies instead of its residents. They will probably need to face the wrath of millions of gun bearing citizens if there’s a 3rd incident this year. Texas is one of the hottest state in US and power outages are threatening our lives, not just a mild interruption on our work and daily lives.

    Living without power is hard and frustrating, but you will have to wait for up to 5 days for power restoration. When you have 2 million customers out and only 20,000 linemen, obviously the math indicates a long time to restore power (don't forget about the hazards linemen have to deal with also).
    Another reason to not restore power all at once is due to demand skyrocketing for AC after restoration; you do not want to overload the power grid either (the person who wrote this had no power for 17 days after Ida in 2021).

    • @JustLikeHeaven77
      @JustLikeHeaven77 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      There were 10,000 crewmen and 10,000 Texas Guardsmen stationed around the area. They are guaranteeing full power restoration by Wednesday evening. That's 48 hours for over a million people. That's good.

    Centerpoint energy is a joke. They weren’t prepared for this storm at all. They had days notice. Part of their job is to be prepared and have plans and budgets in place that help them respond to last minute disasters. This isn’t even a last minute disaster . They knew this was coming and chose not to take it seriously. I’m new to Houston and truly shocked to see how they responded with their tracking services and their power service. Truly the executives should be ashamed of themselves. We are truly over paying on our bills if they can’t even respond with answers like giving an actual update on when certain areas are going to get power. Which means they haven’t even assessed the damage which it’s been days and if they haven’t even haven’t assessed these issues indicates that they were not prepared.

If there is damage, the wallboard has to be removed and the wiring redone. This is excruciating slow, as we found out in Florida. However. we love our linemen! As we were evacuating north, the south bound lanes of the freeway were all line trucks heading south, into the storm. Now be quiet and wait.
