    Arnold used 'I'll be back' in a lot of movies. He amready said it in Commando, which came out before Terminator.

    Eeeh, you're back! At the risk of sounding clingy and fanboy-ish, I freaking love all of your reviews so much, so I was on tenterhooks for this. Plus I was a little scared you weren't coming back to this one, even though I love all your other video series too.
    Anyway...I don't know how often you take suggestions; but if you were looking to do another of these series of filmmaker reviews, would you by any chance consider the work of Koji Shiraishi? He's relatively prominent as J-Horror directors go. I know you weren't too impressed with that one film of his you did in the Disturbing Movies series, Grotesque; but from what I can glean, that one's not really indicative of most of his work.

    I saw The Sleepwalkers when I was about 14. I loved it. Even at that age I could see it was more silly and weird than scary but I wasn't expecting a academy award winning film. It never pretended to be serious, it was just fun.

    Did you know that Stephen King actually shelved Pet Semetary for a time because he thought that he'd gone too far with the subject matter, his wife and his author Peter Straub also thought it was too dark and unenjoyable lol. I'm thinking about watching the movie today, as I'd never seen it. Speaking of Brad Dourif also, you should really check out The Exorcist 3, it's such an underrated movie and they have a restored cut coming out next month!

    Another great entry! Welcome back! It bears mentioning that The Running Man, the book, is excellent and very much worth a read. I love the movie personally, though it is just stupid fun. The Harold Faltermeyer soundtrack is awesome, Arnold is hilarious, oh and the random cameos like Mick Fleetwood apparently playing himself... essential so-bad-it's-good fare.

    "Misery" is so amazing... I just love Stephen King and Kathy Bates teaming up. I also love, although King is known as a horror author, when he focuses on the human mind. I love his dramas and his stories who focus on normal people going through shit. On that note, "Dolores" is worth checking out too, also Stephen King, also Kathy Bates, a touching and dark story about a dysfunctional family.

    • @HorribleReviews
      @HorribleReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess you are missing something? I don't think I've said anywhere in this video that it's the end of the series? If anything I said that I can make some more parts. Which I'm obviously planning on doing so, it's just, I have several series running, so sometimes it's hard to focus on just one. That's why I asked, if people really really like this one, let me know, and I can put some more focus on this specific series. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the video, thanks!

    The original short story Graveyard Shift is pretty much set-up and then a scene revealing the lair of the killer rats... and that's about it. So there's a fuckton of added content for the film.
    The production of Misery made me laugh because James Caan was going nuts being in bed for most of the filming. Rob Reiner went up to him and said "ok Jimmy, for this scene, I want you to be in bed." LOL
    lol You were sticking around for Madchen Amick but I was there for Alice Krige.

    I'm gonna send you a book someday....You kinda open it up and look at the markings on the paper sheets inside...don't worry, I will wait for something incredible and send instructions and even try to get one in Dutch...it's gonna change your life man...there's this function of the mind, called "imagination' in English and it makes things WAY scarier.....I promise you, you're going to love it, and me for sending it to you (its like a secret door to a whole other world ..a bit like the Le Marchand box in Hellraiser!).

    • @HorribleReviews
      @HorribleReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks you for inviting me to the book club. But I do understand the concept of a book/reading, I just don't really care for it. I feel like there's some people out there that feel like reading is in some weird way superior to watching movies/series. Why? In the end it's just a personal preference right? I love watching movies, I don't really care for reading books. Doesn't make one better or worse than the other right? It's two different mediums. Anyway, thanks for your (slightly condescending) comment, I hope you did enjoy the video!

    • @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws
      @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I never meant to be condescending I'm horrified! I just wanted you to listen to an audio book because I love films too and I love your channel but I think that books (even audio books with their sometimes iffy pronunciation. ..now thats condescending lol) offer a different experience. ...I'm not for one minute saying that everyone should read books and if they don't, they're somehow inferior, what I was trying to get across was how the imagination can really make some (not all, for instance I love Blade Runner and I have read Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep/Blade Runner, and I think the film is infinitely better as are thousands of others) its just that in some cases the book is more visceral and I don't mean that you should start joining book clubs, just the odd few that are really good examples, I know what you are saying, I couldn't find even get halfway through Heart of Darkness but Apocalypse Now is amazing. ..Please forgive me if I pissed you off I really was just joking but I do think that the occasional book is better than the film but I do agree that its a personal preference and I apologise for coming across like some English teacher (I mean the teachers at school that used to force us to read books in whatever our mother tongue is and not a language teacher lol!) I hope you will forgive me because you're one of my favourite channels!

    The Running Man was made by Paul Michael Glaser "Starsky" from the 70's show Starky&Hutch . The Running Man is also somewhat a remake from a French book from 1958 by Robert Sheckley "Le Prix du Danger" so it isn't a pure Stephen King idea . But its a great movie ahead of its time showing us how the media has the power and lies another movie have the same aspect was Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone also showing us a modern time with everything being computerizated a carebear land the same they are doing in todays real life too . Pet Semetary on the other hand is really a great movie dated or not i don't care . Graveyard Shift use the same machine like in another movie from Stephen King novel called "The Mangler" starring Robert Englund . I know you don't do the mini-series but IT is a masterpiece and brings up many memories ( Thunderdome VIII hardcore music the cover shows the clown lol ) and Rose Red is great alot people seems to not like it but that mini-serie needs to watched 3 or 4 times to get the story right .

  • @ddcgod
    @ddcgod 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    ibhorrible, so here it is:
    The reason the Graveyard Shift is probably the most uninteresting out of them all is that out of all of the adaptations that you have reviewed, this movie is actually the closest to the actual short story. Plus, it's kind of hard to stretch out a small story into an entire full length movie.

      Pretty damned good, actually. I never heard of the movie, just found it on TH-cam (that bastion on copyright law) one day. A pleasant surprise. Amazing how many Asian movies are available here with subtitles....
      But didn't he already cover Train To Busan? Or was I just dreaming?

    I fucking love Sleepwalkers, I must have watched it at least 20 times when I was a kid. I can't understand why someone would call it worst movie ever, but then again this just reaffirms that the message boards of IMDB are pure stage IV cancer.
