I like most of what she said. I think its great to be a hijabi actor who practices both modesty and entertainment. However, I didn't like the part about how Islamic roles shouldn't be given to white actors. Islam is a religion, not an ethnicity. I'm English-German-Swedish heritage and also proudly wear a hijab. I know what she was trying to say, but I think it could have been worded better :)

Here we have a wonderful sister branching out, being a role model pathing a way for other muslims that love acting to pursue without leaving religion behind. Its sad that a lot of our brethren limit islam to their own understanding, as if it represents allah. They fail to realise that islam gave us borders, and we are not supposed to give islam borders.

@@khadijafulan8308 Acting is a tool we can use to do good. Im sure muslims would love to see movies/series that promotes good, islam and something our children can find halal entertainment through. The world is shifting and we need muslims to represent islam in all areas of life! Imagine if muslims didnt do youtube because 'they seen no benefit', then non of us would be able to benefit from it. If you only knew how many people have converted to islam because of the involvements of muslims in the entertainment business, you may be shocked. I personally know muslims that converted because of the influence of muslims in the entertainment world, it simply cannot be ignored

Oh she is self conscious of being different? But not whether she is pleasing Allah or not?
What a bunch of nonsense, just spreading fitna amongst ummah.
There are so many things to take in consideration for a Muslimah to be actress and for it to be halal. So, it has to be all women production, she has to chose specific characters that she would be allowed to portray (so most likely this would be mainly Islamic based movies-which is contradiction in itself) and so many other things.
Stop distorting our faith and adjusting it to your whims and desires

Salam. This is unfortunately setting a bad example for the youth in general. Acting can be the opposite of modesty, specially in such conditions (free mixing, makeup, showing yourself, etc) and even having to compromise your religion by willing to act certain scenes. I really don't see how acting can be relevant in Islam and we really don't need representations in films, specially when these have nothing to do with our religion. Also, Netflix is the opposite of a positive portrayal and representation of Muslims, nowadays this so-called "diversity" is all about making money out of it! Certainly the Holy Quran doesn't speak about this! Very disappointing!
