@@mimakalou8872 the thing is the 2k parks and proper game courts are similar in size but Volta isn't liked much in Fifa and even if they made proper pitches there'd probably be too little players for the size of the pitch but I would like to see player career with a proper story and a park system

Volta is worse than The Journey. For anyone that enjoyed FIFA Street, Volta is just such an unrelenting disappointment. Owner Mode needed although EA will inevitably ruin it.

What EA should’ve done, instead of dumping money into The Journey, is a revamp to the My Player mode...
They ent "Dumping money" into anything other than their own bank accounts.

The Journey had so much potential but became so time-excruciating and basic that the whole story was pointless. Angry cut-scenes literally had NO EFFECT on your career!

2K MyCareer even used to have a moment where you could go undrafted, how bad you played actually affected your playtime, your role, what team is interested, etc. Here there just arent any consequences, the actual career mode was basically Journey but better without cutscenes. Smh

I agree NBA 2k is the same way. That’s why MyCareer is successful you can build up you player in solo mode and bring your personalized character and play matches online. Idk why fifa doesn’t get it.

@@andreitv9921 MLS is not a retirement home, where do you think Alphonso Davies and Tyler Adams came from? Also, at least in game it made sense. They breached their contract and they were banned from transferring to any team in the PL or Europe so they had limited options. Plus it was a great way to showcase a growing league to the rest of the world.
@@vaporterra if you are american/canadian OF COURSE you are going to play there at the beginning, also, it didn't make sense either like, wtf, who has that sort of clause in their contract? That was like the laziest way to make him play in the US, and growing league doesn't mean that much, as long as they rely ln aging superstars done in europe and a few teens eager to make the move across the ocean

The problem for me was the fact in the space of 3 years you transfer to 4 clubs and one of them was to la galaxy only cause you apparently you having a few bad games at the start of the season, it made no sense
You went to galaxy cause 1. Apparently Alex wanted to go to Madrid cause of a jersey swap with CR7 and your home crowd and team turned on you and every offer for clubs fell through except Dino and ya dad where at galaxy and said we want you.
I know that annoying I feel you should get the option to stay and I feel like that isn’t too difficult to add.

I know this video is old but for me the main reason the journey failed is because youd get half way through the season and and youd get maybe 1 or 2 short cutscenes every 10 games, at that point you might as well just do a player career and have it be yourself and not alex hunter, also the whole "pick which teams to play for" and it usually boiled down to the 20 prem teams at the time and then 2 or 3 teams from other leagues, whats the point when youre forced to move and can only pick between 3 teams, also the whole forced mls stuff to cater to american fans was the most point thing ever
I actually wanted fifa to make a journey of Ronaldo and Messi and you get to choose between and you start with their original clubs as when they were kids

I actually enjoyed the journey got so excited when I got an XBOX one X with FIFA 17 went straight to the Journey I still remember that day vividly
I remember when I played it, I was so bored by the time I got finished doing the pre season friendlies that I didn't even get to experience the league. That's how bad and pointless I thought The Journey was. It was overhyped nonsense that had some 'features' that should've been added to player career mode but nope. In player career mode you can still be told that your passing has been both wayward and sublime as manager feedback from 1 half of football.

I am actually curious about how different people view "The Journey" overall. I got into FIFA at a VERY CASUAL LEVEL when I was at my mates place back in 2010 or so and we jumped onto his Xbox 360 and played some "2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa" and just getting better and better over the few games we played and the satisfaction of getting goals turned me into a sort of casual fan since.
The Journey was super interesting for someone like me who couldn't care less about the sport, or the game franchise it was a part of really, but taking that satisfying gameplay and putting a full blown Single Player story onto it was a stroke of genius and what it needed to get me onboard... Then they ended any sort of competent Story Mode after FIFA 19 and so my money and interest in the games left with me (well, the $3 I spent on them as I would NEVER pay full retail for a bloody FIFA game 🤣)
and the fact that in the first 3 seasons of his career he played for like 6 clubs

The Journey jumped the shark when EA made a key storyline revolve around the MLS.
The only FIFA memory I ever had so...
The had an idea in mind and they executed it well because a lot of people enjoyed the journey for what it was (a game mode). I’m pretty sure I heard someone say it was coming back next year which would be good because The Journey is good and it gives you some customisation, deciding which club he goes to, what he looks like and how he acts. You should’ve been able to decide whether he stayed or not because I feel like that’s not too difficult to add.
I knew it was on rails from the beginning and had no replay value, but I still go back and play it sometimes in the same way you would re-watch an old movie.
The problem with the journey is that nobody asked for it. And most people finished it in a day or two and went back to the modes they regularly played and forgot about it for the rest of the year

They shouldve just fused journey and cm tbh wouldve been good having the interview side and cutscenes as a coach, have some players leaving the stadium in a cutscene that u get to see after subbing em off, use all the home life stuff and whatever for the player side of it. I mean ffs they had the rights to the ted lasso stuff for a year they couldve implemented a game mode for it

I'm sure for some people, they enjoyed the experience! But for alot of others we hoped for something alot more customisable, alot more unique to ourselves and perhaps our dreams of having a mode like NBA 2k MyPlayer skewed our hopes of what could be. It had everything to make it amazing, just not the right execution.
@@Vizeh Yes, I agree with you, but I find myself that I played all of the 3 journey seasons, and I never play Volta....I enjoyed the Journey more than Volta.
The journey succeeded in the first one (fifa 17)but for others (like me) I played the 17 full and then a bit of 18 and completely ignored it on 19. So it failed

Am I the only one that actually enjoyed the journey? Sure it wasn’t great and had some annoying issues but it was their first attempt at something like that. I haven’t even opened Volta sense it first came out, I simply don’t care about it.

I’ll for once give credit to EA on this one, they at least ATTEMPTED to give us something new in the FIFA series and for the most part they pulled it off pretty well, I think it’s just early days. I hope they relaunch it again with improvements, more character customisation is a must.

I love Williams bro. He was a lovely guy once you got to play with him.
The first edition of this mode in 17 was actually a lot of fun, but they made it nearly impossible to continue the story, with how the story unfolded, yet they kept bringing the same mode.
The main purpose I believe EA had with the journey was for it to be a story for you to play through, not a career mode. I personally loved the journey and if you took the time to stop thinking about what it could be I believe you would have enjoyed it too.

The main flaw with the journey was that you didn't get to feed some kids during a pandemic
EA missed two opportunities to put the journey on the road to and during the last two world cups (18, 22). Imagine the journey of Alex Hunter on his rise to the national team. It’d be the only time you’d see England win the World Cup haha
The realistic part hit me the most. I chose Man United as my team in FIFA 17 because they're my favorite team, but I laughed when Alex's friend moved to Liverpool. Man United and Liverpool haven't done a direct transfer between them since what? 1963 or something? I doubt they'd go and transfer a player like Alex Hunter or Gareth Walker when in 2016, '17, they both had ambitions of winning the league. Plus the Alex customizations were disappointing. They unlocked sponsors as they gained followers, but I would've liked to have been able to choose between Adidas, Nike, Puma, or some other brand. Adidas as a default was a letdown.

I really liked the journey just something different in the game yeah it wasn’t as polished as what it should be but it was good imo. The only things I don’t like is the start of FIFA 18 when you go from your favourite team to LA Galaxy in such bad circumstances as well and Alex at Real Madrid. Some people read too much picking out everything that doesn’t look right in it just enjoy the game mode! I like playing as Williams in FIFA cause he’s in my favourite team and I can play as them again and it’s great winning the champions league as Danny as it feels like it’s not all about Alex Hunter. My opinion but it’s been one of the best things in recent fifas because the gameplay and other modes are not cared about and plays too inconsistent so it was nice for a change.

The journey was what got me into fifa and its better than volta by far. Bolts only showed cutscenes of characters gathering together getting ready for a watch which the main character is a mute. The journey though its story is deep and tells the audience what it's like to be a footballer

I had the exact same feeling, then the next day I walked by the guy who Alex Hunter was made to look like at baker street tube station as I was getting off the escalator for the jubilee line - I was so confused, I looked back to make sure and he had an EA backpack - it then felt like I completed the game

i think if they made something like a story mode of legends, like the world cup run of maradona and pele, the msn era of barcelona, real madrids 3 consecutive champions leagues like seperate stories and really good narratives, then all that wud be left is a good gameplay experiences that would not mess with the history tht much. that way, players can enjoy the adrenaline rush of barcelona winning against psg at the last minute in the champions league and many such historical matches played. i would love for this to be made instead of journey
I actually really enjoyed The Journey. Id have bought it if it was a standalone game, and not just a mode on FIFA. The Journey really gets a lot of unnecessary shit imo
Danny Williams should have been an story of an player who plays in the lower leagues where he slowly develops in his abilities and life experience throughout the football world.

I think they should make another story based career mode but u can acc lose and it be like a person that starts in a rough backround E.g : harry Watkins is a 13 yr old boy from Rio and harry has been getting involved with the wrong ppl so to get him out of trouble his uncle signed him up to a street football league ( VOLTA) and from there he gets noticed by scouts and so on ….. further on in his life (10 years on ) he makes it pro.
In my opinion I think they should also make so that in Harry’s career if he makes it to a cup final you can acc lose .
