I used to build houses... I did the math... if i stopped eating, id be able to buy a family home in 30 years.... and my wage is above minimum wage.
Im building houses for people that are paying nearly 1 million dollars for a small family home that i cant even afford in my lifetime...
So many workers that build homes are just opting out.... im one of them.
So now they have unskilled workers doing the job of skilled at a slower pace further exacerbating the problem.
Im not building 4 house frames a day making the company record profits whilst i cant even afford my own damn roof in my lifetime.
Just mooch off the system until it collapses and immigrants dont want to come here anymore.... we tried voting, they just don't fucking listen.

      @@grantourismo0109 Centrelink in a multi-generational home.
I do odd jobs, cash in hand to get by... mow a lawn, build a deck, etc.
Im starting backyard gardening to lessen costs on food.
I dont think the Aussie economy is gonna last much longer so im setting myself up to be as self reliant as possible whilst slowly lessening what buy from and invest in society.

“The idea that the issue is immigration is weak, it’s a supply problem”
Bro, our only population increase has been from sky-high immigration…people will say anything to avoid the sniff of “racism“

    • @kennylee8936

I think what he meant is that solely pointing to immigration as the problem is weak. I agree that it is still a problem and yes the numbers should still be brought down to more sustainable levels...however I feel that it's also used as an easy excuse to ignore the other issues that result to the housing crisis.
I definitely think our culture of suburban detached home living is an issue that needs to be changed but I think many Australians are in denial of it. That's not to say that we abandon it completely, but we need to accept that if you want that lifestyle...you need to be willing to live in outer city areas or rural areas...leaving areas close to city centres for high density.
Australian culture needs to evolve from thinking suburban living is superior to one that embraces the high density as well. On top of that...both pro-density and pro-sprawl people need to stop demonizing each other for their preferences and work together to build our cities properly.

Australia is following the exact same path as Canada. We even have the same parliamentary system of government. Like Trudeau, Albo down under is a WEF puppet, and is clearly not working for the Australian people.

It was never a beautiful country mate , a big vast country yes,it was a country you could earn some crust, now the council's, government taxes, makes Australia literally inhospitable. Once upon a time it was classed as the lucky country, now its the enslaved country. Do as your told, or end up in court paying a hefty fine. Australia is about paying the bills.

Daaaaaaaaang! I thought California was bad.... 🤯 I must say however, I love my home - I don't want stacks of apartments in my neighborhood. I am totally NIMBY. I am a single woman and I worked my you-know-what off for decades to pay for and OWN my own house.

Where I live we have a saying regarding USA (at least the bottom 1/4 economically), " USA has housing/appartments like socks).
Australia housing sounds on the way to be like here.
A house(not appartment) at 3.5 million USD here are at low work spots. A house less than that needs to be at leagal questionable zone+ near battle zone.

But imagine having a walkable city center with town houses or multiple floor apartment buildings with terraces like towns in Europe.. higher density makes public transport economical

NIMBY mentality is downright awful though, considering people literally don't have anywhere to live. Yes you bought and own your home. That includes the square footage of your property and nothing more. If you expected your surroundings to stay the same over 40 years then you're incredibly naive.

    • @leoprg5330

@@mknights33 I know you do have that. My reaction was to a nimby comment above. Any resident in a single house zoning would be happy not to have an apartment building being constructed next to them no matter where in the world.
