So great we are doing the same units. Love watching your videos. I'm schooling my 4 granddaughter's. I also live in Oregon. Enjoy your summer.

So exciting! We're doing 1850 to Modern with my 8th grader. I'm not doing MFW with my K and 1st toutgh I have some fun state/city stuff planned for when my oldest studies his capitals.

We have enjoyed 1850-Modern times. You will need to share what fun stuff you are adding in for the states and capitals, I would love to tuck away some ideas when we circle back around in the family cycle. 😊

Yay I am also doing ECC for my 3rd grader, and VOD for pre k! Also 1st grade but I’ll be only doing the Bible reader/notebook from MFW and for reading I’ll be using AAR. When are you planning to start? I will plan to start a few weeks after you do so that I can steal all your great ideas 😂 and get inspiration from your updates.

We will be starting back on ECC in January. I am on my fifth round of first grade right now! My subscription preferences somehow got switched to personalized so I wasn't getting notified. Thank goodness you popped up today! Can't wIt to hear about the high schooler. That is in 2025 for us!

I’m glad it showed up today! That will be fun that we both will be doing the same family cycle and have a first grader. It’s going to be a busy and fun year! 😊 High school will definitely be a learning curve for us.

We are going to be using MFW with Classical Conversations. I will have a 5th grader who will be doing 1850-modern times, a 1st grader doing Learning God’s story and a kindergartener doing God’s creation from A-Z. We are so excited for the upcoming year!!

4th time through 1st! Any tips? We love MFW, but my 1x I tried 1st the phonics went way too fast, and we had to switch to AAR. I really would love to use it with my other just nor sure how to go about it yet.

My 3 older girls struggled with different aspects of the 1st grade. My tip is to take it at your child’s speed , if they don’t get it right away slow down. Also I would use 100 easy Reading Lessons in the summer before the first grade as a foundation. My 4th daughter has picked up reading really quickly, so I don’t think she will struggle like my others did. I hope that helps some. You know your kids best and do what works for your kiddos and what you feel comfortable with. 😊 God bless.

@HomeschoolandGrace I have another question for you. We have a good gap here. So debating keeping my littles together or adding in the family cycle. I'm wondering if you have done Adventures and ex-1850.
Is it really just as good to add them in the ex-1850. Or is adventures a tad better for that age? I don't mind doing 2 cycles since my older kiddos are 7th and 8th and my younger would be 2nd and down. But if it seems ex-1850 is the same for littles I'll do that. But if adventures student sheets and such are just way better for that age range. I'll re do that for my littles. So curious on your opinion if you have done both.

Did your oldest skip 8th grade? I’m curious if you don’t mind sharing because I thought she was in 7th last year, and I know the oldest child usually repeats ECC for 8th grade. Would love to hear why/how you decided to move her up to high school.

She was in 7th last year. When she was little we held her back in kindergarten, but last year she worked really hard and did advanced classes at her co-op and we felt she was able to do the greater work load for high school. We will see how she handles it all and I will definitely help as needed. It will be a learning curve for us both, but she is so excited!
