I'll never forget this game in the arcade when it came out; you never saw so many people around a machine. Awesome fun game. AND yet another great something that made the 1990s wonderful.
Because the internet wasn’t around back then the buzz around games like this was insane. And the arcades were still very popular and an incredible escape. Some of the best memories of my childhood in those arcades.

Some of the lighting effects are gorgeous especially since they had to be done by hand. The flickering light in the subway and the blue light from Cyrax's arm panel reflecting off his face when he self destructs are really impressive
Man, this was my favorite MK. Because of the on-point animation syncing with those sound effects when the hits land...yus! Plus the screen shakes. You really sense the brutality of it all.

Even the incredible motion capture and live action actors in the past that made the greatest impressions they can make for these characters also makes them all the memorable.
Can't wait for the remakes. Like another world it's just such a beautiful game, i hope it has a similar old/new button for fast switching to what something once looked like in 16 bit in this case
They should just remaster this exact game. this was the peak of MK. Just crisp up those graphics, and some new backgrounds, maybe a few extra cool things. And this game is sheer perfection.
I completed this in a local arcade about a year after it was released. I too played as Cyrax. I couldn’t believe I did it. Unfortunately, nobody was there to see me do it. 😢. One thing that was so exciting about this time in gaming history, was the anticipation of them porting the game to your home system. In my case the SNES. It was beyond exciting to have the game, albeit scaled down, on your CRT.
Yeah the player doing the longplay was enjoyable to watch. Really enjoyed the fast execution of all the finishers possible that were offered on this tower. They definitely have a fighting style for regular players and one for bosses, but i guess a lot of us do.
Back in the day when I was playing MK3 for the Sega Genesis, Cyrax wasn't my favorite character at the time, but after I got older years later, I followed his stories thru the MK games, and he was such an awesome character and I started playing a lot now, and he's become one of my top ten warriors, I totally loved his human form in 2011's Mortal Kombat.
Gary Baker well they had to do something after they turn smoke heel to join with Noob Saibot and made Sektor just a badass. The only logical solution was to turn Cyrax face and give him more character development. Although they kind of retcon them since his original Mission was to kill Sub-Zero
Funny how when he was fighting the other fighters he couldn't get a flawless victory but he got them when he face montaro and shao Khan like it was nothing

Everybody freaks out about 2 Shang Tsung but nobody bats an eye when there are 6 skulls, 12 arms, 18 legs, 3 pairs of rib cages when one person explodes.
I love MK 3. My fav!!! I don't play anymore but I love to watch gameplays! Oh my goodness, the sound effects give me goosebumps. I love the voice actor:. "Superb", "Outstanding", and most of all "Well Done❤️❤️❤️".
@@scotthartley518 If we're thinking about the same combo, they nerfed it in a later revision. Jump kick, spin cocoon move, ground saw, LK, LK, HP, HP, uppercut, jump kick, air fireball.
Could be because one of those would have been Sub-Zero if playing as anyone other than Cyrax due to Sub-Zero playing a key role in Cyrax's ending, but I can't say with any certainty.
Kudos to you man, those battles against Shao Kahn and especially Motaro were insane. The usual 30% damage combo was only 9% against Motaro and you schooled him
It wasn't until I had access to the internet around 11 years old that I realized that Cyrax had bombs. The CPU never used them and I never thought to hold LK to find out about them.
Yo this is the best strategy Ive ever seen for beating this game. I've only ever seen the other strat with using Smokes uppercut teleport over and over again. This is leagues more pleasing to the eyes
Back in the day there was a bug/error in the first verson of MK3 where cyrax could throw the net and bomb too quickly... this allowed cyrax to keep boming and netting the other player indefinetly... loved it! I could beat ANYONE! Came in one day and they updated the game and there was a 'timeout' between net and bomb... boo fun over... :(

Not when you are playing against the CPU. The AI is incredibly cheap, which takes all the fun out of it.

There is a Sektor combo that does like 94% damage if you are near corner.
Kabal has a 10 hit 70% damage combo, but it can be tricky to pull off.
