      He thought Calvinism was something close to a pagan master-morality. I think he saw Cromwell as a heroic leader that highlighted the resolute Germanic character in contrast to the debaucherous cavaliers.
      I think he is strongly influenced by Thomas Carlyle in this view. You can read about this in chapter about Cromwell in "On heroes and hero worship'"

      I didn't want to believe this for such a long time, but it does seem like it has been that way pretty much since the begining.

      Even the right-wing hope Trump was only against lockdowns because „we need to keep the Dow up, the markets need to be green.“
      Lives were sacrificed on the altar of capitalism.
      America‘s GOD is the GDP. Their Banks are their Cathedrals.
